Sucks out here cause the only games we see are Seattle vs. some California team. (No offense to anyone) but I would rather see the East/Central teams....
Now the anger is setting in...
LOl, while others rejoice!!!Sorry B, I didnt think we even had a shot against you guys.. But sriously Papelbon.. omar Santos?
I quit baseball. It is a waste of my time.
I probably devote 1000 hours a year to the sport. From now on I am going to use that time to knit. I am sure I could make a sweet sweater for next winter if I refocused my energies...

I'm not going to acknowledge that anything good is happening in the sport lest I jinx it...

I wont jinx you yet either, not at least until the Phillies leave .:devil2:
Although I am quitting baseball, I did read my normal websites this morning and got a laugh out of this: These times, they should be changing - The Boston Globe

What, there is no TIVO or DVR in the Rocky Mountain and Pacific time zones? Record the game on time and play it back when you get home. Fast forward through the commercials and the batter stepping out of the box to scratch his nuts and you'll be caught up with us Easties by the 7th inning. What's the problem?
Ok, it is safe to talk about baseball again.
Interestingly the Red Sox found their way to first place in this mess. Don't ask me how.
I am going to give up knitting for the time being.
As for the westies, I've lived on the West Coast and I always enjoyed the fact that I had an excuse to go to a bar at 10 AM in the morning and catch the early NFL games. I don't get the negative side of the argument.
It is going to be two east coast teams in the world series anyway so I don't know why "they" care in the first place. ;)

Thank goodness for this game, it was getting brutal to watch baseball for a while there. Luckily I have been moving lately, which has been my own form of knitting, to distract me from the errors and bad pitching and missed runs.
I also like having baseball and sports in general on early over on the west coast. The only bad thing is that I don't get to watch as many games since I don't have the sports package or NESN and MLBtv is too expensive for me now too.
If you as a fan of certain west coast baseball teams can only muster up the energy to show up for innings 3-7 of a game you paid to see, you have nothing to complain about in my book.

I wasn't going to go there, but that is the sad reality.
At Fenway, down 8 runs in the 9th inning - the house is PACKED.
I think there is a different mentality to the sport. Of course, Fenway has been sold out for years and has the longest streak of any team in history.
We take our baseball seriously.
As for MLBtv, at least that option is there for the future. I can remember when it was impossible to get games as an individual.
In addendum:
I can remember when Fenway was empty every night in the mid 90's and I could buy bleacher tickets and just walk around to home plate.
Fortunes change. We are in a great era, but it will only last so long.
I got ridiculed for taking Mauer in the 6th round (who on God's green earth would take a catcher before the 12th?) Guess who is getting some revenge these days.

What is going on with Mauer? This guy could hit ping pong balls a mile. He is on fire.
Another good win, but I want Mauer. The Red Sox need this guy for the future. I think the number one concern for Theo in the off season is stealing Mauer from the Twins.
Forget about Salty, let's get the best hitter in baseball.

Cal Ripken Jr. said he's got the best swing in baseball. Someone else said it too, but I can't remember.
And it doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eyes either ;)

I definitely think getting a catcher should be the top priority. I live Tek, but he's getting older and catchers get worn down so quickly compared to other position players. We need some new young blood behind the plate. A good swing doesn't hurt either ;)
As far as the whole Cali fan attendance goes, I could understand if your team was horrible, but the Dodgers are good and the Angels are good and both teams fans walk around like they own the sport. We, Boston and east coast fans, do take it more seriously, and I like it that way. We know out stuff. When I get to go to a game, I show up for batting practice and stay late to either celebrate or sulk, haha.
It's sad, but I kind of miss the days of losing where I would be able to go to more games and move down a few sections to sit by the field...I wouldn't trade the 2 Championships though, so I take the great with the bad!

I was just telling my husband, next year if someone is hurt and is scheduked to come back within a reasonable amount of time we should take them... someone in my league took arod in the 5th and mauer in the 9th. I dont know how many points he had in your league but in mine he had 122.I cant complain though I tool Inge as catcher and he's doing better than anyone ever expected.

I'm in a CBS league. I've been with them for quite some time.
The only time I can think of that more points were scored in a given week would be Lester's no hitter + another start in the same period.
Mauer racked it up and he is back at it.
Pinch hit home run? He should now be walked at every at bat. It is stupid to pitch to him right now. He could break [strike] Bonds steroid[/strike] Aarons HR record in an injury season, should he see too many pitches!
p.s. I love Teck too, but can you image a catcher that was feared like that in "our" lineup?
I know it's early but my Cubbies are playing horribly  They seriously need to snap out of this losing streak. I can't believe the Reds are ahead of them ugh.

I've had several players who had close, Kinsler had 111 one week, and Cantu had I think 105.

LOL watch it you never know who's doing it and who's not.Look at Manny, I got burnt with him this year.
