Amazing Race 15: Episode 6 - Discussion
Do it for the hood! Do it for the suburbs! When temperatures soar past 130 degrees, the teams begin to feel delirious during a detour and one racer loses their cool when their partner is paralyzed by fear. I wouldn't mind if the globetrotters went next.
Again CBS, really?
Haha...the editors just love to play the globe trotter theme song...
ahahaha "If we stay here long enough Lance and Keri might show up." Mika is pretty umm...I don't even know how to describe her ways of thinking. "Do the muslim clocks work differently."
I hope the globe trotters go home.
I don't really mind who goes home as long as it isn't Sam and Dan or Maria and Tiffany. Seeing as they already finished the detour though I don't see how they'd come in last this episode, but anything can happen I guess.
Why is everyone against the globe trotters?
How awsome does that water slide look?
I know that slide looks amazingggg! Looks like another thing to add to my list of things to do in the future.
I would throw her *** down that slide.
I really want to go down that slide!
I remember when my mom made me go on my first upside down ride. I reacted the same way that girl is. I was 7.
She's one of those people that were babied all their life so they're still very childlike. My brother is the same exact way.
I love that she was screaming, "Help! Help!" As if anyone would do anything to help her, in Dubai. That guy standing by the slide would have probably busted out and lent his personal disobedience cane had he been asked for assistance, lol. On another note...she sure is lucky they skipped the bungee jumping this season...
I would have dragged her down that slide by her hair.
He really, really, really wants to push her. No cameras around and she'd already be at the bottom of that slide.
Sucks for him...
What a sucky way to leave.
Wow. Just wow. "I lost the Amazing Race because I wouldn't go down a water slide..."
What a ****ty way to go out. A water slide? Come on now.
I wouldn't be able to forgive her so easily.
If that were me and someone I really cared about, then I'd forgive them just as fast. I mean she's afraid of water and heights and that's a huge mix of both.
I bet he just put on that front for his goodbye to the cameras. Behind the scenes he was probably still ******.
If that were me and someone I really cared about, then I'd forgive them just as fast. I mean she's afraid of water and heights and that's a huge mix of both.
I could probably forgive her, but I don't think I'd stay in a relationship with her. Whining and crying about being scared of heights and water is one thing. Not sucking it up and going down the slide is another... She had her mind made up that she was not going down that slide, probably before she got to the top step. From there it was all about offering the appropriate show to sell her decision. If she can't go down a water slide for him, what is going to happen down the road when something really hard comes up? Maybe the analogy is unfair, but I think this episode gleaned something about her that Canaan should take with him should he decide to remain with her for the long haul.
I can't believe she doesn't go. I can understand how you can be that afraid of something especially of heights and water, but when you put yourself in a situation like The Race knowing full well that they push you to the limits and many have to face their fears, you have no choice but to do it. I would be able to forgive my teammate eventually but like Bacchus said it would put serious doubts into the future of the relationship if they couldn't go down a water slide for me. They aren't making you jump out of a plane, they aren't making you tread water in deep ocean, this is probably the most controlled of situations that you may be put it. Plus she had freaking floaties on! I think her reaction of yelling at him not to force her or tell her what to do or when she keep telling him not to come near her was what made me the most upset. Like use him as your strength to face your fears instead of taking it out on him.
It's funny I'm on the same page with this water slide thing... I mean it's for a million dollars...******* up and go! But I've been hearing from a lot of people how abusive he was to her... & comparing it to domestic abuse... Someone even wrote that it was the most abusive moment since Jonathan pushed his wife & screamed at her a couple of seasons ago... I was so surprised to hear it... it didn't seem abusive to me... I think he kept his cool pretty good compared to what I would do... haha

However, if she had known all along she wasn't going to do it, they should've booked it for the finish line, taken the time penalty and then hoped that the Globetrotters finished after that...although I think the time penalty was something like 24 hours. I can't remember the last time someone refused to do a task.
There was a lifeguard at the top. At one point, Canaan was trying to peel me off the wall and I looked at [the lifeguard] and went, ‘Please help me!’ And he just stared at me. [Laughs]
[via TVGUIDE] Haha, just as I suspected. I'm sure the lifeguard was thinking...."Dude, you need to get control of your property." Actually some time ago I worked with a guy from Saudi Arabia and he said something passing about his "property" - in what I thought was a quick reference to his wife. So, I asked him to tell me some of the things he owned (egging him on just to see if he'd really say it) and sure enough..."My house, my car, my dog, my wife, my kids..." Middle East cultures are...um, different for sure (not to say that the above attitude is always the case or the norm. Just like in America, I'm sure individual ideologies vary widely on just about every conceivable topic.) Anyway, in the end I think that Canaan was wrong for how he approached the situation (i.e. putting his hands on her) but at the same time that does not forgive her childish stupidity. It was probably best that they departed the race when they did as he would have probably pummeled her for refusing to get on Dumbo the flying Elephant ride at Disney Land Paris...
I watched this episode last night and couldn't help but laugh at that scene. I don't think Cannan had the right to put his hands on her (no one should be forced to do something that they don't want [or can't] do). I do think she is childish and should've done it. But at the same time I can relate to her. I know fear can cripple someone. I have anxiety attacks and sometimes your body just cant do it. Like when he told her to just sit, she physically couldn't, because her legs and mind wouldn't allow her to. When I was having a huge panic attack, my mouth became so dry and someone tried to give me water, but I couldn't suck through the straw, because my mind wouldnt let me. I understand both points, I do think she would have felt some kind of reward or satisfaction for her doing it, even if they lost the race. If she was so scared of water and heights than why did Canaan even opt to bring her? He should have brought someone else.
If she was so scared of water and heights than why did Canaan even opt to bring her? He should have brought someone else.
Because when faced with the opportunity to win $500,000, a person would be willing to do almost anything...or so they say.
