STRIKE WATCH: The latest updates
EW reporters are on the scene as Hollywood writers begin picketing in New York and L.A. More...
LOST:
If the strike is prolonged and the scribes can't get back to work writing the rest of the episodes, fans are going to be stuck with the kind of stunted season they were forced to endure last year. "It will feel like buying a Harry Potter book, reading half of it, and then having to put it down for many months," explains Cuse. "There is a cliffhanger at the end of the eighth episode. It will only be frustrating [for viewers] to have to step away from the show and not see the second half of the season.
If things get that out of hand with the strike, I would almost rather they just held the Lost season until next fall rather then leave us in a torturous place in the script that was not a defined, natural breaking point for the series.
RE: Lost You have a valid point...which I am sure the exec producers are pondering right now. The whole point of the short season was the impact. If the strike lessons that then I can see them pulling the plug until they can air them as intended. That's if they have the power...I'm not sure that do.
That's if they have the power...I'm not sure that do.
ABC is probably the evil overlord in this situation (not the Lost Producers) and if the going gets tough with the strike, they will toss out any concerns about the intended creative impact of the series. The finale last year was so good that they could realistically shelve this for another year and probably end up with more viewers (people catching up with DVD, greater fan anticipation) then if they run it this spring! Actually they would be in even better shape if they sent the first 3 seasons to mini syndication (like Heroes on G4) to get EVEN MORE people caught up and help attract those people that got lost with Lost by giving them another free viewing. If they do go with a half, half, season - maybe I'll just record them all and then hide for 6 months in a cave until the remainder of the episodes are finished. ;)
