wow! Thanks for sharing those numbers. :) I had been looking around for stats like that, but I assume they're not just floating around to be easily viewed by the public. Just out of curiosity, what shows beat it? I have to say, I was a philly fan. :)

I use Media Life Magazine as my source now. The Nielson Ratings Service has become too expensive to purchase.
You will find the latest cable ratings report here:

You can use the search feature to find past ratings for The Real World, although it often takes lots a creativity to find achieved info.

Would you really be surprised if that was it? c'mon
what was the ratings for real world denver? and is ths one the one with the most drama? thanks
Denver finished taping early for a variety of reasons. One reason was because production thought it was a disappointment. But, as Tom Bergeron says on "Dancing with the Stars," "Did the fans agree?"
Here is the answer to part of your question, courtesy of Media Life Magazine in an article dated one year ago tomorrow about "Las Vegas: Reunited."
Both "Real World" and MTV could stand the boost. “Real” was once a top-five staple among adults 18-34 but has fallen farther down the chart in recent years. Total viewership for the most recent edition, set in Denver, averaged 2.2 million, down 15 percent from the previous edition in Key West.
“Reunited" could prove a smart move by MTV, which has been searching for ways to woo back the 12-34s it once dominated, as other networks like VH1, Spike and Comedy Central gain among younger viewers.
Las Vegas was MTV’s highest-rated “Real World” edition ever among 12-34s, averaging a 4.1 in the demo. It drew widespread media attention for the over-the-top antics of its participants, including a threesome in the show’s hot tub. If “Reunited” is successful, expect to see many more reality show reunions on the network. ...
FYI, the Las Vegas season outdrew this season of the Hills. That shows how far The Real World has fallen from it glory days of viewership.
As for this season having the most drama, I don't know. I think people would have differing views based on how many seasons one watched and how one would define "drama." For me this season has drama, but I'm not sure the editing tells the story of the cast "journey" which is supposed to be what the show is about.
When drama works best for me there is full use of the "tension, open conflict, resolution" formula. So far, I'm not getting enough of that to think what we see in the show is much more that the editors' pandering to what they think the audience wants. To that extent, I think both Greg and Will's criticism of production is on point.
BMP may be having trouble coming to grips with the new hour format. Rather than deeply explore some story line, it appears that they have opted to kluge together two half-hour shows. Further, using next-day (or days-later), staged confessionals in which specific cast members are used to provide commentary which will be used as "glue" to bring the story together, provides only self-serving, revisionist moments. In last night's episode, this was Bri's function. It is the reality editor's crutch when a bridge is needed to have the story line make sense. Sometimes the cast member will record multiple versions of the confessional so production can go in several directions with the storyline. I'm not sure that equals "unscripted" drama, though.
oh **** Will, He can come on here and say it was edited but Bri and Greg already came out and said Greg said his dad passed away because he's a ****** fag. GTFoutta here Will and fix your underbite. lol you joke.
fkin Crybaby. And why the **** is Dave ****** off. he has a huge Napoleon Complex.
I heard Bri and Greg both refer to Will bringing up Greg's dad but not hearing them say anything about it being because he was gay...I know that is what edit says Will said...but I didn't hear Greg or Bri directly link the two phrases when they were saying how wrong it was for him to bring up someone who had nothing to do with the argument. Is that on real world dailies or something?

I agree Stacee, but have not gone back to verify. He did say both phrases, but I don't think they are connected together as a singular sentence. There was nothing in the "coerced" interviews that would make me think otherwise.

I also agree, in fact the words that were supposedly coming out of Will's mouth, were in written words at the bottom of the screen. Also if you watch closely there is a giant hand over Will's face, when he supposedly said what was written!

In the confessional she says that Will said "Your family knows your gay... even your dead father knows your gay."
In the confessional she says that Will said "Your family knows your gay... even your dead father knows your gay."
It didn't seem to me that he was saying that was the REASON for his death, as suggested by the previews. It was bad form to talk about a dead loved one, but I for one think this has been taken out of context.

This is exactly what I am getting at. It was purposefully presented in the previews to make it seem that Will was saying the REASON Greg's father was dead is because he is gay (which was not the case.)
Just another instance of MTV making a mountain out of a mole hill (although Will was wrong in any regard.) Do y'all still remember the Tyrie (Denver) incident where they set it up to make it look like he got arrested for domestic abuse (rather then publicly relieving himself?)
MTV knows no depths when it comes to ratings ploys...
can we not talk about the dead father, please?
We are not talking about him, we are talking about the statement that Will supposedly said. I too said earlier (on this thread or another) that we need not discuss anything about his Father because that is just wrong.

But that is not saying that he died because he was gay...Don't get me wrong there was nothing defendable about Will's words or actions, BUT I also din't think he said what was claimed he said which I beleve was something like {{Your dad died...because you are gay}} (I didn't want to put it in quotes because I am going off of memory).
I agree though, I don't like mentioning Greg's dad on here anymore, even if it does have something to do with the argument. I vote we all refrain from talking about that specific part or from now on just talk about Greg being gay and not use the word dad or father anymore. Just to be respectful.
V1 Man you got your season mixed up. RW XI was Chicago not Philadelphia.
Hey, don't blame me. I copied the data directly from Media Life magazine. It is Philly's number even if the Latin numerical notation is wrong.
OK, I can't believe I am on a RR message board (not a big message poster). I have been watching since the 1st season (except london), can't seem to get enough of the drama. I am now outside the target audience age 38, but still very interested because THIS YEAR IS OFF THE CHAIN...GREAT CASTING-- A REAL MESS!
The Will/Greg (reva) thing really hit a nerve. I thought Will was all good and Greg was the villian till recently. Will is DIRT DIRTY, just the way he's behaved (or edited) was super corney. He is such a side-buster how he gossips like a lil girl, ALWAYS takes the ladies side, talking **** behind the other brother's back, knocked his (greg's) girl and THEN TALKED ABOUT HIS DEAD POPS AND SOME HOMOSEXUAL STUFF, C'MON MAN? I have never been so pumped up to see a episode like I have over the last week, so much so I have been trolling around these RR sites. No matter how unpopular this may be, Greg has become my favorite cast member. I really don't like how he's been treated over being cocky and a few pranks. He is actually a funny dude and his mannerisms are hilarious. Like when he told bri in the episode before last how "Dave and Greg brought over females that they wanted to smash...which may be true, or may not be true, but why does reva need to know yada yada" and also the theatrical grandstand he gives when he goes off on Sara and boyfriend--his gestures and body language had me in stitches. I'm not saying I'd like to live with dude but it's great television. He is not gay (my opinion), some of us (african american men) are more flamoyant and animated in how we speak and carry ourselves vs. mainstream america. He does some weird stuff and is self centered but should not be enough for people to be so **** over-the-top upset. Funny to see Will's big tough guy grandstand when he knew nothing would go down...fake punches, hitting walls and trees, his lil *** strikes no fear in anyone. Sad thing is it SEEMED as though Greg was coming around and inviting his friendship.BTW he (WILL) is getting CRUSHED ONLINE and rightfully so.

Welcome Big Cee. I don't think you missed all that much with the London season.
You make good points re Greg and Will. Good to have another perspective. I wonder, though, what you make of Greg's latest 19:45 minutes of rambling at facebook where he actively courts people to post **** about Will at Will's youtube site and elsewhere.
Seems like the bro has some serious punk-ass show post-mortem insecurites going on.
(WILL) is getting CRUSHED ONLINE and rightfully so.
The facts:
The outpouring of hatred toward Will generally comes from an extremely vocal, fraction of the viewership. Basically, some young African American men who have bought into the idea that Will is the all too white acting, not manly enough, token Black guy (as announced by Greg.) I don't think this is representative of the audience's thoughts as a whole.
The perspective:
If you watched the primary elections this winter/spring you might have heard of Ron Paul (or probably not.) He didn't really win anything - except online polls. "Every" forum on the Internet said he was a genius. After each debate on CNN, ABC, MSNBC, etc - those network websites would be buzzing with how Ron Paul won the debate by a 100-1 margin. The secret hidden truth was that less then 1% of the populous was producing 99% of the material on these disparate forums. If an uniformed reader stumbled on to ABC.COM and looked at the debate comments, they would be convinced Ron Paul was the only Republican running. Also, when a poll about Ron Paul was put up anywhere, sites like Digg and Reddit (with millions of combined, left leaning readers combing the Internet) would send 100,000 people to vote for Paul. It made it look like Paul was a political demigod.
If we went by the Internet alone, he would have been crowned the Republican party nominee by an unprecedented margin. Of course, that was not the reality of the situation.
The truth
Online polling and online forums are entirely driven by group think as designed by the minority to project a seemingly defacto majority opinion. In the "Real World" situation and the case of Ron Paul, a small percentage of the online community bang the drums loudly -close to the source- to make it sound like there is thunder, when in fact the skies are blue and the sun is shining. It is just that many of us are too lazy (or stubborn) to look outside and view things in perspective.
The moral of the story:
Don't believe the hype, and even worse - don't become a mouthpiece for it.
Thanks for the kind welcome V1. Yes, he prolly has some issues especially having his enormous ego and then seeing your good ole buddy Will getting some "brain" from the person he thought was his girl a week ago. On the show last night when Greg and Will talked outside it still seemed as though greg still thought that Will was "trying stuff" with his girl as opposed to his girl actually "doing CPR on Will's stuff". He's prolly pretty ****** off because alot of this is new news to him, however, some of the stuff he and his supporters are writing about Will online is some of the worst stuff I've ever read...really outrageous bold over-the-line type garbage. If he (greg) would sit back and watch and not instigate he would be better off and the lynch mob would come for Will anyway. He can't, he's a cocky 21y/o...hope he learns.

Exactly Bacchus, unlike those ******** on youtube I am a young African American male who does not have time to E-THUG on the internet. Greg please get a life. And another thing, I hate the "uncle tom/token" thing greg rambled on about.
And another thing, I hate the "uncle tom/token" thing greg rambled on about.
In speaking with Will I got the impression that the "token" statement reflected upon a very touchy and hurtful subject in which Greg knowingly exploited, to get a reaction out of him.
That is why I have Greg as Darth Vader in the Real World/Star Wars Tribute picture that launched this thread. He brought out the hate in Will with a carefully selected phrase, like a lightsaber slicing through the mind.
Then Will came back with his slurry of hate...
If any of you Star Wars fans remember, on Planet Dagobagh when Luke takes his hate out on Vader in the cave and chops Vader's head off, it was actually his own head in which he was chopping off (lots of parallels here, lol.)

I understand what you are saying just reporting my personal feelings and what I see on the net...not heading any HATE ON WILL CAMPAIGN. Hope he has thick skin or stays away from his youtube page though...YIKES!

As for Will, he is in Mexico doing a gig with Parisa (of all people) and looks to be staying off the internet for the most part and enjoying the Tecate, Coronas and free flow of tequila. I think he'll be fine.

I'm probably going to hate myself for this, but probably the one thing that can turn our Bacchus against young Will is Will spending alone time with Parisa in Mexico. I mean, if they are making music together as young musicians might be want to do, then Will might become the victim of an Internet "drive'by." One never knows... :sofa:
