no problem.
I guess that lone ranger thing is just less well known than I thought. Ha ha, it's kind of corny, my mom used to say it all the time (and she's white, *shrug*). But I guess maybe it's something that rings a bell more with older folks than anyone else.
I thought racial/cultural undertones came into the conversation when Bacchus posted the comment about getting out of the 'burbs and then with that video of the newscaster switching between speech patterns. So I was kind of playing off that vibe, but I guess it didn't work so well.
i see, i see... well then yes i guess i agree with you. i was specifically talking about the use of the word "we" which isnt a conversation like i said it was, so i can see why you disagreed with me about that.
and yeah, lone ranger... over my head.

That was my post you were referring to and yes, I used the wrong pronoun, yes, I was only kidding around, and no, i did not intend it to be anything racial whatsoever....as I posted a follow up saying I meant no harm
=)

Charles Barkley
Nick, I first met Charles Barkley in about 1990. You do look a little like him when he was younger. Considering his character and public views on many subjects, I'd take the comparison as a compliment, not that Sarah was competent at the time to have actually had a cogent thought about much of anything when she mentioned him.
As for the picture-taking moment of Sarah's body reminding her of the insanity of over-drinking... just tacky. You can try to dress up the pig with an "everyone did it", but the pig still oinks. You know it was wrong even inside the obvious karma-driven humor of its context. It's a 'Boys will be boys' moment best left behind for a years-later discussion.
(As a legal aside, your contact allows you to be servilely filmed 24/7, but you have no equal right under your contract to invade the privacy of another cast member. You might want to check with legal at BMP if you are unclear on the matter.)
Sarah on CNN?? pretty impressive. i never doubted her skills.. she seems capable of delivering the news. She still did a ****** job interviewing those movie-goers. and it had nothing to do with her credentials (only serious news journalist major) it had to do with her inability to relate to people. She can't relate to Bri, Joey, the movie-goers.. she's full of fakeness but i dont think she realizes it
Sarah was interviewing "people?" You could have fooled me. I thought they were all aliens/idiots... sometimes I can't tell the difference.

V1, do you think this is the appropriate place for a discussion on immigration policy? :wink2:

oh man, don't even get me started on that right now, LOL

Maybe under a "Battlestar Galactica" thread? I imagine H2 visas for the crew would be in order next year since earth's professional pool appears deleted.

(For the really slow... it's "aliens," as in "not from this world.")

I think you are right. Although I am still holding out that there might be a few natives in underground caves, lol.
LOL. yeah Sarah's interviewees were kinda weird, maybe scientologists. Also, her reaction to Nick taking her picture was cool because no one likes to look vulnerable. He had to of known it was going to **** her off so i think it was payback for the way she had been treating him.
Ok...Sarah didn't need to "relate" to her interviewees. When you ask someone what they liked about a movie and they start with "um...well...it was kind of sci-fi...so i liked that"
um. ***ktard. OBVIOUSLY THE MYST IS SCI-FI.
"How scary was it?"
"Really scary."
I really don't think Sarah did anything wrong in her movies.com interviewing...the people were just stupid. They weren't giving her good answers.

There is an art to making people give good answers. She had a stunted, rigid delivery that was destine to return an equitable response. Are you aware that people will mirror the interviewer as a natural psychological response? That includes body language and most importantly tone.
With Nick and Kiim, there was lots of energy and style in the delivery and that was reflected in the interview responses that they received (and why they did better per say.) That is why they got good answers. It was not because their half of the audience was alien or stupid people free...
Also you are not always going to get "good answers". That's part of your job, to know how to handle that and where to go from there.
The way you handle it is to scream at your producer to find you people who are not moronic, but we should also remember that the editors' specifically gave us these clips of people Sarah talked to in order to make her look bad. It was the story line for the episode, and we, like little sheep, are blindly following were BMP wants us to go this week. Shame on us; we should know better by now.

I'm not buying it. Did you see her MSNBC video? Did BMP give us that one too? It was like attack of the killer robot with a bad script!
We can argue the semantics of this all day, but the reality is Sarah is a ridgid person (socially, values wise) and it comes across in her interview style. Arguing that it does not may be mentally aerobic and entertaining, but not functional or winning the hearts and minds of the people, lol.
I just think she would be better served behind the camera........like waaaaaaaaaaaay behind the camera. ;)

You could be right, but until I work with her I won't really know. If she received any professional coaching before going on the show, whoever did it should be disemboweled and the carcass left out for vultures. She may be a nice person, I have no way of knowing;, but nearly every on-camera choice she has made this season has been wrong in terms of her resulting portrayal.
It is very obvious to me that while management at BMP quickly came to hate Greg, it was the line staff in the editing room that developed an early dislike for Sarah.
But it wasn't only the answers she got that made her a bad reporter, it was her delivery as well. She has sucky people skills and unlike Nick, it doesn't seem like she tries to make people comfortable around her.
I'm back!! I've been out of town (actually with some Sydney kids)
Anyway...I don't have time now to read all of the post, but will get to it tomorrow and also post something about the new episode. Sure to have some ppl talking... can you say 4some!!!
Also I think someone should help the new cast members with the blogging ;)

I heard you were in Mexico. Parisa even said you were "cool to hang out with." I was like, "Kim, from the Real World and cool in the same sentence? Parisa, put down that tequila now!"
Ok....I didn't really say that.......but she did say you were a blast. ;)
Nick seems to hold his own around here, but just barely as we are quite the vicious lot!

Perhaps you missed the explanation that Kimberly was not involved?

Actually, I've already deleted a few of his posts for crossing the line. I don't think he's long for this forum, lol. ;)
