well, i'll be ******. the "powers that be," as it were, have actually taken to posting clips that show cast members strategizing about how to win the game (instead of just drinking, fighting and behaving like maniacs). poor ev, though. the more i see of her interacting with the other cast members, the more i think she must have felt something like an fine art enthusiast in a sea of fingerpainting kindergarteners.
As far as caloric intake goes, men have more lean muscle mass then women do on average. Yes, they use more calories, but usually only about 5-10% more. Active men will usually consume 2700 and active women 2000 calories. For Dunbar to say he consumes 3000 at least tells me he takes supplements and likely, indeed, has "vanity muscles." Let me also say that right now, not many of these people are active right now, so their caloric need will fall a few hundred calories. In this case, on the island, Johnny, already set a precedent for evenly rationing out supplies (toilet paper encounter with Ev) so if they had originally rationed it out evenly, then they shouldn't expect the women to be okay with a rules change once they've eaten all their food. And they surely shouldn't be consuming alcohol. However, women do have a harder time recovering from starvation (which in reality, these folks aren't being exposed to long-term) and it can have long-term effects on estrogen levels, and women's ability to carry a child to term. Again, the women on this challenge aren't being exposed to long-term starvation and likely went and stuffed themselves after they got back home. However, it does take them a longer time to regulate their body chemistry than most men. Also, there is a rich food source all around these folks if anyone would listen to Ev. I'm not just referring to vine snakes (though I find snakes to taste more like fish, though I've mainly just had rattlesnake) but the amount of insect and plant life. If any of them had read up on a survival manual in the last few months, they would have plenty to supplement traditional food intake.

when I agreed that men need more calories I never meant to imply that dunbar would be the first to waste away or that he should be entitled to more food. Nor did I mean to imply that he needs 3000. I do however agree that he is at a disadvantage because he is use to consuming more calories. It probably is more uncomfortable than someone like johanna who (I'm assuming of course) doesn't eat anywhere near that much. Unfortunately for Dunbar this is the nature of the game. BMP gives alcohol to people who aren't consuming enough calories to sustain their weight. I doubt highly that they give a **** about who needs more food to be comfortable. Note: please excuse spelling and puncuation errors. I'm posting via mobile. :) Posted via Mobile Device
Insider makes a very good point about a disadvantage the men do have on this Challenge. On the whole, they are probably used to consuming considerably more calories (food) than the women are. For the women who are rationing their food reasonably, their discomfort probably isn't as high as that of the men who ate their food to satisfy their normal hunger urge and now are left with much less. Besides women on average go ketotic sooner than men. So any of these girls with natural breasts are going to start having a lot of fat stores to burn off too.
So any of these girls with natural breasts are going to start having a lot of fat stores to burn off too.
Uh-oh. I'd say most of them are in trouble then! ;)
Well, those with implants have some fat stores still left, but they aren't the same as those with natural breasts. Also there are fatty deposits in the butt that can be burned up too. For those girls that don't come onto the Challenge already looking like they could eat five or six Big Macs and be closer to a healthier weight.

Actually, I was really concerned about the girls who are already so small. Some of them could stand to gain a little weight... not lose it.

Ha, today on the dailies when I saw the picture of TJ on the Feverish Forum clip, I thought we were actually going to find out what the new rules were. I guess I was expecting a bit much.

I've never met her in person. She may be smaller than she appears on tv. Ashli looked rather "average" as well. Girls like Paula and Johanna look like the need every meal they can get. (KA too)
As far as caloric intake goes, men have more lean muscle mass then women do on average....
thanks for saying all that more eloquently than i (in my hotheadedness) could/would have. :D
when I agreed that men need more calories I never meant to imply that dunbar would be the first to waste away or that he should be entitled to more food. Not to mention the fact that there was more than one occasion where a girl said that, if asked, she would eat less, but who the **** wants to be told that they can't get their fair share? If the "men" expect to get more, they need a better reason than just because they're bigger with more lean muscle mass--they need to be using that mass for the good of everyone else, which they aren't really doing. And it's also annoying when Johnny is ****** at Evelyn for being "greedy" when she saved her eggs and used them to supplement a later meal but didn't take less food. It's not her fault you ate your eggs early on. She's entitled to her fair share, and to do what she wants with that. I do wonder about two things, though. Does anyone know if the rice was rationed, or was that unlimited? They looked like they had some serious rice supplies. And is fishing/hunting allowed? I know they were doing some kind of fishing things early on, and there was the daily with the knife in the crab, but they just didn't seem to take advantage of that stuff, and it made me think that maybe they weren't allowed to (although seeing as how BMP allowed the place to be trashed anyways, I'm thinking that maybe there was no such rule). Edit: forget that second question. I just read the Medications thread, and that article gave me the answers. So their "starvation" was really more their own unwillingness to work for food. Not that I should really say anything, since I've never been a farmer, but I mean, come on...if they really did have as little to do all day as they say, doesn't it just make sense to spend that time getting food? God, I wish I could trying subsistence living for awhile...

I mean yeah she is still very thin but her muscle tone looks amazing to me...when she was talking to evelyn sliding her foot on that dumbell her leg muscles were really cut...well in my opinion anyway.
Am I the only one who thinks that Kelly Ann has really bulked up
Kellyanne has definitely bulked up, but she takes a hard knock to the chest and she'd shrink right back down to size. :D

The Paula/Ryan fight made me sad. :( Why was Robin crying? I don't get her.
I keep forgetting Ryan is on this Challenge. Then again, I forget that Tyrie, Colie and Cohutta are around too...
ugh. i hate paula. her voice=nails on chalk board. i used to like robin, but she is seriously crazy now. geez...
ugh. i hate paula. her voice=nails on chalk board. i used to like robin, but she is seriously crazy now. geez...
It seems like everyones issues are coming out on this challenge, people I previously liked, I don't anymore. And people I did not care for before are the ones that seem to be normal. I will always like Derrick and Cohutta though!

Anyone see the dailies today? I wonder what Ryan and Paula were fighting about.
i saw them. thats why i commented on how annoying paula's voice is. she squeaks when she yells.
I just saw that, and I was kind of surprised.... Has Ryan ever really gone off like that? I don't really remember him ever really getting into a fight with anyone.
I just saw that, and I was kind of surprised.... Has Ryan ever really gone off like that? I don't really remember him ever really getting into a fight with anyone.
They live together, so who knows what they discussed before the show to get some camera time.
They live together, so who knows what they discussed before the show to get some camera time.
You really think that was planned? Hm.. By the way I watched a clip of Ev, Robin and Jenn talking, and it looks like maybe, (and I hope) that the three of them plus KellyAnne might form an alliance. We already know that Ev and KellyAnne already have one. And Robin is sort of with them, some of the time it looks like atleast. And Jenn said that she was to float around. I'd like to see the four of them band together.

I am simply speculating based on the facts 1) Ryan gets no camera time 2) Paula is a camera ***** 3) Johnny and Kenny are doing nothing to take advantage of the moment to get their own exposure. 4) They do live together in NY and it would have been smart of them to discuss options like this for their game play before they left home. To be fair, # 2 is only my opinion.
