I enjoyed it. I can't believe Sarah didn't stay ****** about the rats/mice.
I thought it was a a well put together introspective behind the scenes look at the show, although I am not sure how many secrets were revealed...
Is that like the theme of this season "secrets"
I thought it was a a well put together introspective behind the scenes look at the show, although I am not sure how many secrets were revealed...
not the overall show, bacchus. i mean the end of it where they showed the This season on the real world. EJ, I might be wrong but I don't think real world so much as concentrates on themes but from the trailer it could be said that it has to do with who they are as a person and what they want to become as a person
I just caught the tail end of this show and was surprised to see it. It's about time MTV did an introspective type show on The Real World, especially since E! and VH1 have done that type of show on The Real World already. I can't remember if MTV did one many years back, but either way, I feel it was time to see one or an update. I am surprised that it was an hour and thirty minutes long. On MTV's site it is listed to be on again today at 4:30PM and at midnight. I'm really going to be up tonight or I'll have a lot to record since I wanted to watch the Two a Days update marathon that I missed yesterday due to work. I was happy to see Landon and pleasantly surprised to see Amaya and Heather B. Can anyone list all the people shown? I see some of the names in tags at the bottom of the thread, but that's not everyone, is it? I am more excited for this show than the new season, I must say. I saw the trailers and it doesn't capture my attention much. But I watch TRW on and off, anyway. I am not someone who just watches to see them party. I like learning about people with different backgrounds and seeing how they relate to each other the most, so if the season were to focus on the relationships of the cast, I would be happy with it. It doesn't have to be chock full of drama as long as I like the people and the vibe. And I am happy that they actually just eliminated the job since they are trying to have a focus on careers again. They should have eliminated the improv thing on the Hollywood season, or at least made it optional, IMO. Perhaps I'll watch the first episode at least. P.S. I agree with those who generally don't care much for Danny, yet really felt for him because of the sad stuff that happened on his season. He started annoying me during his season, actually (though most of that cast did). Interestingly enough, I thought he would be my favorite on the Austin season from the preview/casting show. I do hope he and Melinda are happy together and treat each other well.
this show was really good, but I was so sick and tired of hearing all about Austin. Danny and Melinda weren't the only two people to get married. Also they left some things out as well. Wasn't David (Seattle) invovled with a casting director. I think the Pedro movie will be a good idea, becuase it will be good to show the younger generation the strugle that he endured. PS I love Colie (Jew pride all the way)

I'm watching it for the first time. Why did Wes have to be a co-host?
Funny that they were hesitant to cast Wes because they were afraid of his history of fighting, then they thought it was ironic that Wes was the only one who didn't get into a fist fight. However, he was extremely close hitting Rachael, it seemed, on the last episode. That was the biggest scene of rage (outside the Will/Dave thing on Hollywood, faked or not) I'd seen in a season. I didn't see Denver and Sydney and just saw pieces of those incidents, so I don't know if they were worse. Still, he was super heated up (Rachael and Nehemiah as well).
My gosh, Landon had even more hookups that we didn't see?! He really got a lot of women that season, for a guy who claimed he didn't have any game. I know the cameras get them a lot of hookups, though. I knew of one that wasn't shown, but two more? Probably more than that. I'm even more surprised Shavonda hooked up with him now, since she seemed kind of creeped out by how he could bring a random girl home one night. I'm starting to see him in a different light more and more... That's really nice of Danny to not press charges on the guy who punched him. Felt like they talked to more male cast members than females, or at least they used more of the male cast member interviews.
I'm watching it for the first time. Why did Wes have to be a co-host?
Because he is a very close friend of one of MTV's producers??? I though he did a decent job of script reading.
I was real pleased with this special, it was very very well put together. I was surprised to castmembers like heather b, andre and amaya on it. I know that there are 20 seasons of the show and they had so much to choose from, but there was a lot of other important things they didn't touch on like Frankie's illness and Lindsay's friend who committed suicide. It would've been nice to also see castmembers from London-Seattle interviewed as well. Can't have everything, but I really enjoyed watching this special, I can't wait to watch Brooklyn
I really wish they made references to Frankie Abernathy and not just focusing on Pedro, once again.
Also, I haven't "seen" the episode in years, (i merely read the reviews at tv.com) but I don't think Lindsay's friend committing suicide was that big a deal during that season. Enlighten if I was wrong. Also why didn't they focus on things like homosexuality on the show, unrequited love stuff like that would've been great to lead up to Katelynn.
It also would have been interesting to hear more from cast mates that hooked up with other cast mates during their season during the talking about intimacy on camera and such. Amaya talked about it the most concerning her and Colin, so that was good. But they could have talked more to Alton, Landon, Colie, Kelly Anne, and even MJ to some extent about it. Instead they had Alton and Landon give like one quote on hooking up, and it was either general/vague or about a non-cast member hook up. I'm not looking for details on what exactly they were doing or anything. Just wanting to know what it felt like to have a personal thing like a relationship or a hook up unfolding while you're on camera and it's someone you live with. And you're in a house with five other people who will know everything, so it must be awkward. And tough to find moments for privacy, or a space away from the other roommates and such. I would have liked to have known if it was really awkward to certain people to do that, and more about how cast members tried to avoid the cameras as to not get caught, etc. I think I would have felt very weird having a relationship on TV because I'm not a public display of affection type of person. At the time you know it's not broadcasting on TV live (but months later), so some people might feel a little more comfortable about knowing they wouldn't have to have it broadcast until later. However, there are still a lot of people around filming you and producing the show. Also, some of these people came onto the show with relationships, or were hooking up with a castmember who was in a relationship. It would have been interesting to hear more about that stuff. At least to me, anyway. I also would have liked to have heard more about specific situations in which people tried to dodge the cameras or avoid being miked. Had there not been so many commercials, perhaps they could have put in more of that content. But I am still glad they gave the special a timeslot of an hour and thirty minutes. It was a nice and unexpected treat as well. Brad was pretty funny to me with the jumping out of the car situation and then trying to hitchhike a ride.
Also, I haven't "seen" the episode in years, (i merely read the reviews at tv.com) but I don't think Lindsay's friend committing suicide was that big a deal during that season. Enlighten if I was wrong.
I only saw a few sections of the show, but I saw the part about Danny's mom, and I was surprised that there was no mention of Lindsay's friend. It may not have been a season-long storyline in Seattle, but it is one of the things I remember most about the season. Lindsay, who was always so perky and optimistic and full of life, was absolutely devastated and it was devastating to watch. I can't imagine it was easy for the crew members, either. And she, too, learned of the news in a phone call on camera. So while Danny's situation was terribly tragic and influenced his season a lot more, it wasn't the first time production has had to bear witness to grief, and I was a bit surprised to hear it spoken of as though it was.
I'm going to try to catch the upcoming midnight viewing. Glad to hear that Heather and Andre (Andre, of all season 1 people!) appear on the special, but disappointed that Julie didn't show up (from what I've heard). I know she's a mom now, but it doesn't mean she has to retire from appearing on TV!
I was kind of hoping for Eric and/or Julie from S1 to appear on the show...
Not Eric. He is everywhere! I'd rather see someone who we rarely hear from, like Julie. The last time she appeared publicly was in that '01 "Where Are They Now?" special People Magazine did! That was close to a decade ago! Am watching it now, and it was good to see Heather and Andre. (Too many recent castmembers, though!) Casting director: "Melinda is one of the most gorgeous people we've seen." Me: "Not to me!" Too bland and generic looking.
It would have been nice if Norman did an appearance on the show. He hasn't been on TV since like the gauntlet.
I'm also surprised to see Suchin Pak. The only time I bother to watch MTV is for RW (with the occasional episode of Made or True Life) and didn't know she was still with MTV.
Here is a list of everyone I remember seeing. Some of these people only had like one comment shown, so it was easy to miss them (correct me if I'm wrong): Andre Heather B Beth S. Syrus Amaya Cara Frank Alton Anessa (I think she had one comment)? Adam Brad Landon MJ Nehemiah Wes (co-host) Danny John(ny Bananas) Zach Tyler Paula Colie Shauvon Trisha Dunbar Kelly Anne Kim Brittini Will Would have been nice if they could have maybe had a couple less Sydney people and could have shown someone from Miami or BtNY (two of my favs) or Seattle or New Orleans. And I think without the commercials it ended up being around 40-50 minutes total. I wish they didn't have to have so many commercials and they could have given us what amounted to 60-65 minutes of footage. I'm hoping there will be extras on MTV.com eventually. But I did like that they did a special. It was a treat.

Yeah, I forget, they're catering to a different demographic so they'll show newer folks more. D'oh! :no3: Amaya looks great with the darker hair! It suits her. The blonde made her look fake. I think now she only appears on MTV occasionally since she doesn't do MTV news anymore.

As soon as it's back from commercial they're back to commercial!
Yeah. I meant to say people like Beth or Andre or MJ only got a couple of lines. You could easily miss some of these people if you walked out of the room for a few seconds. I thought Heather and Andre looked good as well. I did like the blonde on Amaya in the past. I do think the dark color looks nice, though I think the bangs are kind of thick. She looks good, though, overall. Some of the previous cast members look better than the recent ones, in terms of aging and taking care of their appearances. I recorded it earlier and must have missed a couple of minutes of footage, so watching it again it looks like it's about 40 something minutes and I edited my earlier post.
dplayer, Beth was on there. I saw a quick interview clip of her. And you know what's sad? I had no idea who Brittini was---I had to dig deep into my memory to remember her. That weave she's sporting is tacky! Cara looks better with a little extra weight (though I never want to see her night-vision sexcapades again!). And I knew they were going to mention Becky's tryst with Bill during the first season!
Paula was on it. Don't remember seeing Beth S, except for a small clip of her season.
Just noticed and will edit. So they could have did fine with one less Key West person as well, IMO. Also, though the hurricanes were a big deal, I wish they would have talked a little less about that and more about the construction of other houses for other seasons. Beth made a couple of comments in the sections about intimacy. She said something about it being a big deal back then just having a kiss on camera, and she said something about how it's shocking if you aren't hooking up with a lot of your castmates today. realitywedding, I think that's Brittini's real hair, but dyed. I remember her having naturally curly hair that would look way longer when she flat-ironed it (of course).

And thanks Cara for explaining why Aneesa was naked half the time. "I'm a nudist" my behind.
ya know. this may be me and my bad eyesight, but I thought Zach looked a bit like Ryan Kehoe. Not alot, just a tiny bit.
I wouldn't be surprised if she really does just like to be nude, but I as well found it interesting to find out a reason, or partial reason, for Anessa being naked so much. I do think it had a lot to do with the mic. But wouldn't she also be on the toilet with the door open? I thought I remember reading that somewhere.
