She does now. What did she do to her face? She looks very plastic.
I noticed that also, and it looked like quite a one-armed shove. I don't know what happened between those two, but I'd guess it was inappropriate in any case. There's really no need to push people. Is Robin just angry that Tori has supplanted her in Brad's list of women to save?
It seemed like Robin was taking a ride on the delusional train--not that that's surprising after the Island. When she said everyone else cheated her out of what she loves to do, it just seemed ridiculous. It's a game. If you're not willing and ready to play both parts--the alliance part and the physical part--you're most likely going to go home. Other people trying to win money aren't obligated to keep Robin because she likes sitting on ice blocks and playing rugby so much.
The nomination process seemed so complicated. In the first Duel, it seemed pretty straightforward--people picked someone they liked/were in an alliance with who had not yet been picked. This time it seems like it's planned out to the last person so everyone knows who's going in beforehand. You know you've gotten overly scheme-y when Paula throwing out a different name is apparently the worst sin against humanity that can be committed.
I don't like Paula, but she was clearly uncomfortable with picking MJ instead of Dunbar the entire time, and Evan and others should have picked up on that and maybe changed things around a bit. On the other hand, since it was clear that MJ was going to pick Ryan if he was last, Paula really screwed over her friend/roommate for no apparent reason, because in my eyes there was zero chance that Dunbar would be the person left at the end. I'm not sure why it was so important to Paula to pick him personally.
Paula/Ryan = Ex roommates
I really enjoy the opening! It is really cool. The Haka is a very big tradition in NZ! The "players" do it before all their sporting events. It goes back years and years to when they use to go to war and that "dance" struck fear in their opponents! If you know this history, you would appreciate it more!!
I do know the history, and it doesn't help. In fact, it kind of hurts. To a small extent, it looks as though they're poking fun at the haka.
Paula/Ryan = Ex roommates
Did this happen before or after The Duel 2?
After the Island I would have thought that Paula would realize any alliance is not set in stone, and everyone there is looking out for numero uno. She got completely screwed on the Island, I would think after that the only alliance I would have would be to myself.
I think Ryan got exactly what he deserved. In the same way that he took advantage of Nick's injury last week MJ took advantage of his size. I thought Ryan picking Nick was shady and karma just caught up with him this week.
I too do not get why everyone was upset at Paula - Dunbar was in the alliance too so what difference does it make when he gets picked??
MJ and his sense of entitlement is really getting on my nerves. As a replacement player, he should have been the low man on the totem pole as far as I'm concerned. Then again I've never liked him.
I burst out laughing when Kim beat Robin - it was so ironic because Robin chose a rookie who she just knew would be weak - wrong!! Go Kimmy!
However, I did feel sorry for Robin when Kate/Diem and whoever else was talking crap about her while waving with smiles on their back. And to think I use to like Katie - I forgot how shady she can be. Diem - not surprised - I've seen nothing but shadyness from her (sorry V1 but I call it like I see it).
Dunbar and Landon in a speedo - my dream has been fulfilled!!
K I'm done ranting - back 2 work I go.

You make a seriously wrong assumption. I don't think I've every offered a positive opinion on Diem. I've only reported facts as they have come to me from more than one unconnected source. I don't have a single fact at my disposal to indicate that she is or is not shady.
There actually were a number of things that happened with Robin beginning weeks before the challenge which soured even her friends from having much interest in her being a part of the challenge. The reference in the episode the Robin being "paranoid" refer expressly to that pre-challenge behavior.
Regarding the opening, the one bright spot for me is Nick's line, because he says his part and then totally busts out "aghaggblahlabpfff" or whatever with his tongue hanging out all crazy, like he knew the joke or something. :tease: Whoop!
And Paula....stupid stupid delusional Paula. I'm glad MJ took Ryan out just as an in-your-face Paula. It seriously pains me to watch this girl. First-telling Shavoun not to sleep with girls exes, boyfriends, whatever. Pot, meet kettle. Also, I can't stand looking at her. Her make-up sucks. Someone needs to teach her how to blend, or something. Honestly I know she's almost 30 how does she not know how to use make-up? Ugh, at the risk of being more *****y, I think I'll stop right now, but you get my drift. Paula=FAIL.
Kim, way to go girl, you rule. My fingers were numb just watching that duel!!

I too feel sorry for Robin. I understand that her friends don't want to be in an alliance with her because she's a delusional, paranoid psycho but, making fun of her behind her back on national television was just mean. Sorry to all Katie and Diem fans out there.

I thought they did a very good job. Some people more than others. Many were not to excited about it. Think about it though. They just flew half way around the world and are jet leged! I doubt they had enough energy to focus on what they were learning.
Would it not have been intelligent on the part of Bunim Murray to give us context like that in a clear and understandable way? Just imagine that you were a random viewer tuning in a minute or two late. You might have though you mistakenly tuned to the Discovery channel.
They should have spun it another way. I think thats why they put the opening on mtv.com, with somewhat of an explination.
LOL and yes some of the cast do look like animals. "the leader at the front" looks very animalistic............. Evan *Cough* Evan

I thought they did a great job, and I think they look hilarious. Evan is so over the top and than Nick's line with his tongue hanging out. The guys look so funny.
Good episode. Nice that strategizing is happening so early.
What I don't get is: why the hell does the order matter so much? I mean, if I was Ryan and I knew I would be picked by the last man standing, then I would WANT to be last. At least that way you get to pick who you go against and have control over the situation. Kim said it best when you should just accept going in last and hope to kick *** and win. I just don't see how what Paula did was so terrible. She has no ties to MJ. But still, I can't stand Paula, or Evan, or MJ.
I'm feeling really uncomfortable for kind of liking Rachel and even Mark this season, two people I have never liked. Well Mark I never disliked him, just never cared one way or the other.
And can someone tell me when Robin went cuckoo? I was never a big fan, but still I don't ever remember her being "crazy Robin" up until last challenge. Was she masking it all those other years or did she just go off the deep end recently? I kinda felt bad for her, but I was rooting for Kim anyways.
MJ vs. Ryan, don't like either, but was surprised Ryan held up so well.
I really hope Landon and Brad see through Evan's bullshit soon and actually do something about it. Blah he sucks.
Oh and Ruthie FTW. Loved her last night. I also don't despise Dunbar like normally! Someone help me!
One last thing, DEAD at nobody hugging Shauvon. The editors really should have had crickets chirping during that scene because that was hilarious. I actually felt bad for her, especially since A. CT is Diem's EX boyfriend and B. Paula is a huge hypocrite. I did lol that MJ called her the "**** girl" though, which stinks because I can't stand him.
ps. Did Brittini replace Shavonda in Landon's heart? ;)

1. Robin has always been unstable - even in her RW season (San Diego). "Robin the train wreck" is certainly nothing new.
2. Were you actually watching the competition? Ryan was obviously over matched and put up little to no resistance. He got stomped!
3. Why would you despise Dunbar? He's such a great guy - one of my favorites from the Sydney cast.
4. MJ didnt make the "**** girl" comment, that was Issaic.
No, MJ did make the **** girl comment. Why would Issac make that comment considering it seemed like MJ did not know her name, which is probably why he called her that. Issac and Shauvon were on the same season together.
No, MJ did make the **** girl comment. Isaac and Shavoun were on the same season, therefore I'm sure he knew her name.
BTW, I do love Evan but wtf is this "godfather of the challenge " BS. If anyone is godfather on that challenge, its Mark.
Just the typical FM ego that's prevalent in these challenges, now.

How could not NOT despise Dunbar? He's a jerk, he treats other people like crap, he only cares about himself, he talks down to people, he thinks he's God gift to mankind, he looks horrible in a Speedo...I could go on.

I'm not sure why Ryan thought he could keep himself out of the duel, but here are my two best guesses at what he might be thinking...
1) "Seniority." This was his fourth challenge and he sees himself as a vet, so rookies (Isaac, Nick) would be beneath him in the pecking order, as would anyone with fewer challenges (Davis, Dunbar).
2) Alliances have served him well in his last two challenges. I didn't see The Island but my understanding is that he was given the easiest possible road to a key. In Gauntlet III, he spent half his days protected by the Veterans and the other half being protect by the Austin girls. His history was telling him an alliance would save him here, too.
I can't really answer the Robin thing, but it's been mentioned before. I remember a Svetlana quote from The Duel... "Beth just isn't as intimidating as Robin because Robin is just crazy. Like, I can't control myself, I'm so nuts I might kill you by accident."
Evan has an impressive stat sheet. He won 5 or 6 challenges on the last Duel, and 5 or 6 challenges on Fresh Meat before that. He's not as good as he thinks he is, but most of these people aren't. Landon, Mark and Brad are better off aligned with Evan right now than having to deal with him as part of another alliance. The previews foreshadow Landon reeling him in a little, but they won't break ties with him until the end, if at all.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! Where have you been all my life?
BTW, I do love Evan but wtf is this "godfather of the challenge " BS. If anyone is godfather on that challenge, its Mark.
Ep 2 - just saw it (Spain) and a good episode. I just want to say that I am glad thus far that this challenge is focusing more on the game and the vote as opposed to the other meaningless crap of past challenges. It is refreshing. anyway
Aneesa smoked Shavon, and I throughly enjoyed it. Yes Aneesa can be testy, but she is duel proven. Shavon put up a better fight than I thought, give her credit. The ice challenge was OK, but the team seperation at the initial outset said alot. I was rooting for Derek's team since they are underdogs. Nevertheless, the challenge was good.
The selection process and deliberations. It is good to see a little bit of this element in the show. However, someone is going to be left and they have the option of picking "whoever they want". I found it somewhat hypocritical of Ryan to take the low road last week against an injured Nick, and then have the audacity to get upset when MJ picked him. Paula didn't do anything special, she was actually trying to spare Dunbar and Ryan, but then took credit for setting up Ryan to Evan and the others. If her fate is similar to the Island, she deserves it for simply failing to keep her mouth shut. Robin, on the otherhand is perceived as Ms. Paranoia, so I actually found it easy for her to be isolated.
The duels. I was very impressed by Kim's effort and attitude from the edit. She showed no qualms about going in, and she pushed herself in there and came out with renewed confidence. I have had low opinions about Kim based on the past (edits or whatever), but I must say she has shown the best attitude of all the competitors thus far. She was dead on, "someone's going to be last and just be prepared to go in and win, don't cry about it." I glad MJ took out Ryan, because Ryan took advantage of a situation last week that wound up costing him more than helping him.
It was good and it's good to see that alot of the outer circle are gunning to take out members of the inner circle. I just hope to see the likes of Evan, Brad, Mark, MJ, and Landon faced with having to go in and hopefully more than once.
How could not NOT despise Dunbar? He's a jerk, he treats other people like crap, he only cares about himself, he talks down to people, he thinks he's God gift to mankind, he looks horrible in a Speedo...I could go on.
You cannot judge someone based soley on their season - if their behavior is consistent on subsequent shows then yes your judgement of their charcter is valid.
I personally thought he was very different on The Island that he was in Sydney. It's not easy living with people, especially if they're like the Sydney girls (ALL of them).
Johnny is from Real World Key West.
yes children I am aware of that - I have been watching from season 1 not just Key West or any of the other wannabe seasons. What I meant is that the ego thing is not really a FM thing - more of an Evan, Kenny and Johnny thing - thats just how their personalities are.
1. Robin has always been unstable - even in her RW season (San Diego). "Robin the train wreck" is certainly nothing new.

1. Robin may have always been crazy and loud/dramatic or whatever, but I never remember her being so weird shaky psychotic paranoid Robin.
2. Yes, I was watching, and yes MJ did overpower Ryan, but Ryan held up a lot better than I thought he would. I was expecting another Alton vs. Danny competition from Gauntlet 2 where Ryan was thrown off in one swift motion, which wasn't the case at all.
3. Dunbar a great guy? Maybe we have been watching different shows, because he was a lunatic on his season and he seemed just as crazy on the Island. Yeah he looked good compared to Johnny and Kenny, but IMO he was just as crazy as he ever was AND was much more paranoid then say Robin. Different strokes, I guess.
4. As mentioned before, yes it was MJ. I think Isaac knows who Shauvon is heh.

I'm not judging him based solely on his season. I'm looking at more than just that.
Of course he was different on the Island. It was his first challenge and he had no room to be a jerk, yet he still had his moments. Second time around? Much different story. He's right back to his old ways. Therefore, my judgment is valid.
Yours? Not so much. If you speak about not judging someone based solely on their season, then you can't judge all of the Sydney girls like you do. Parisa and Trisha have yet to appear on a challenge.
Also, I really don't appreciate you calling people "children" on this board. We're all adults here.
