Landon is a strong competitor all around and if he had been in the final...he could have very well won the whole thing. But I wouldn't say that he is the best out of all the challenges. Alton definitely was a tough competitor but he seemed to lose a little bit of steam on I3. Either way now to get back more on topic and to point out something kinda funny in the process. Brad has been in two duels that have been controversial among some fans and he has come in second two straight times in a Duel final mission. Not the best luck going right now.

Yeah, and before the Duel 1, he was always voted off on the challenges a few days before the finals. On Battle of the Sexes 2, there were 15 eliminations ceremonies and he was sent home at the 14th one. On I2, there were 4 men Inferno's and he was eliminated in the 3rd one. On G2, there were 8 male gauntlets and he was eliminated in the 7th one

Thanks Golden Warrior, I agree with your point, Alton did lose some steam on I3, I guess those ciggs catch up with you lol. Anyways I agree, Brad doesn't have the best luck in these things but he is still a really strong competitor and I think excels more in a team environment where you can def. count on him to always do a solid job...Maybe not first but def. in the top five or so
When did Landon hurt himself? Did I miss something? because he seemed fine in the final Duel?
See comment #235 above. It may help you.

****!, You go Brad!!
Evan worked pretty hard this whole challenge so I was proud to see him come in 1st..
V,
In previous threads, I've read comments written by you stating that the ending was going to be huge and it would be really exciting, etc. Were the injuries what you were referring to, or did some other stuff happen that might not have made the edit?
The last show was pretty good, but not insanely crazy like I was expecting. I was expecting Mark to turn on Brad or something and there be a huge fight. Maybe I just set it up too big in my mind. :)
----------------------
On a general note, I did think it was interesting that Rachel wanted Evan instead of Brad. She made a comment about Brad hurting from his duel, but I always saw him as stronger than Evan. Evan did win though. As far as him screaming at Brit, he IS friends with Kenny and Johnny, so I guess you can't expect too much from him.

I thought the final episode was huge -- two duels and the final mission all in one! Look at all the response above to Landon/Brad. Looks like people cared about it.
Evan passing Brad with only seconds between them seems like a big deal to me, too. Clearly Rachel was right about the affect on Brad from two duels the previous day (remembering every duel lasts longer than TV affords us to see). Yes, there might be a few things that didn't make it into the edit that I've heard about, but overall I don't think they would have affected your opinion.

Ok thats cool. I'm not saying people shouldn't care about it. I guess it wasn't as much of a shocker to me because I had unfortunately read the spoilers. Knowing that Landon wasn't in the final mission kind of took the shock and awe out of what happened between him and Brad. :)
I'm also partial to the scenes not involving duels (especially if I've read spoilers, because I already know who wins) but I know thats probably not a popular opinion. I'm unfortunately the type that likes to read the last chapter before I finish a book, and then am disappointed when it's not as earth shattering as I had expected. Maybe that's why they had to make Jack die in the movie Titanic, because we already knew the ship was going to sink?? :)
I WAS shocked about Evan beating Brad though.

Why? Evan clearly caught up to him. IMO, Evan is stronger than Brad and if it was head to head race with out any partners, and climbing up poles with bikes, Evan would have won anyways.
Brad has a lot of heart and he's a good person but he's not the best competitor on these challenges. He's no landon, Wes, Derrick, Evan, CT, Abram, Alton, etc.
BMP likes to milk the "Brad has never won a challenge" like they did with Derrick, so I suspect he will back until he wins. I don't mind because I love Brad but I don't understand why anyone is shocked about him losing.

I think your bias in favor of Evan continually clouds your judgment.
I think your bias in favor of Evan continually clouds your judgment.
No it doesn't. I think everyone else's unbias favor of Evan clouds their judgement.
I never said Evan wasn't beatable but to me Evan catching up to Brad and beating him was no surprise. If it wasn't for me reading spoilers, I would have thought Brad came in third anyways.
I think your bias in favor of Evan continually clouds your judgment.
Personal feelings will cloud your opinion of anyone, I completely agree with this. Not just Evan, but with anyone, I hate to admit it but I have always been a CT fan. Therefore when he gets into a fight or something goes down concerning him I tend to lean on the CT side, because of my personal preference.
Or let's say Veronica, I have not been able to stand her since her "Mean Girls" stint on the show, so when I see her on The Ruins list, I immediately say "ughhhh not her again."
Bottom line is they all serve a purpose for what MTV or BMP thinks is good television, and personal preference will not allow you to see clearly.
I have to agree with TJ...I think Evan deserves to be a lot higher on the list of strongest competitors but people's personal opinions keep him back. I just watched the Gauntlet 3 finale and was impressed by his performance in that as well. He was the leader for the entire Veteran team throughout the whole mission and seemed to be doing like 3 times the amount of work as the others.
He is a different kind of competitor than someone like Landon who just seems naturally good at everything. Evan on the other hand works really hard at just about all of the missions and gives it EVERYTHING he can.
I would want to be on Evan's team any day and would definitely not want to go against him any any duel/gauntlet/whatever! Hopefully his proven record of winning Duel's and the final mission in this challenge give his strong performance some more credibility.

That is not the case with me. I can admit when Evans being an ******* (Gauntlet 3 where I couldn't stand him the whole entire show, yelling at Brittini during the finale) but whenever I stick up for him, everyone always uses the "well you like Evan so bla bla bla.."
Actually, there are cast members I like more than Evan but there is no reason for me to sit here and stick up for them because they don't get trashed on the forum and everyone around here pretty much likes them.
However, just because I like someone doesn't mean my view is clouded. I love Katie, but I can recognize that she's not a good competitor. And I can't stand CT sometimes but that doesn't mean I won't stick up for him when it comes to defending his athletic abilities.
And I liked Brad way before I even knew who Evan was so that doesn't mean anything, I never said Brad wasn't a good competitor but I just don't think he's up there along with CT, Alton, the Miz, Wes, Derrrick, Landon, Evan, etc. My personal preference doesn't mean anything. I don't care for Alton or CT but that doesn't mean I don't think they are the people to beat when it comes to challenges.

And than everyone seems to forget he won more missions than CT on the first Duel. lol.
But thanks for agreeing with me.
I have to agree with TJ, Evan is one of the strongest competitors in the game. And since I had some free time I decided go back and see his records in all four challenges he has done: Fresh Meat, Duel, Gauntlet 3, and Duel 2.
Fresh Meat: Evan/Coral won 5 of the 11 challenges. And for the last couple of challenges they were injured.
Duel: Evan won 6 of the 13 challenges against the rest of the men. Lost in the duel.
Gauntlet 3: His team won 10 of 15 challenges. Won one gauntlet. Lost the final challenge due to Eric quitting.
Duel 2: Won 2 of the 10 challenges. Won 4 duels including the final mission.
Total: Team and or individual challenge wins: 23 out of 49. Elimination or final round wins: 5 out of 7.
Evan wins nearly fifty percent of all challenges he is in and seventy percent of elimination and final rounds. While the Gauntlet three helped bolster the overall average because the veterans were stacked, Evan still has compiled an impressive record.

I do not recall anyone stating that Evan is worthless. ****, he has an impressive track record. Perhaps I tire of his supporters' incessant aggrandizement and idolization of him more than I tire of Evan himself.
Wikipedia as a source? Beware the wrath of Bacchus on that.
Thanks V1man, so landon was hurt during the duel and realized it once he got back to the house? or the next day? what was he injured with?
He partially pulled his arm out of the socket (according to his blog). He realized it within an hour I'd guess. The injury happened during his struggle with Brad in the Duel.
I'm done discussing this and The Duel II. If you want to know more, ask Landon or Brad.

I don't think of Evan as my idol, I don't think of any of the RW/RR/FM cast members as my idols. Everyone has cast members they stick up for and I will continue to do so with Evan.

I like Evan a lot. He is just an ******* ;)

I clearly do not like Evan as much as TJ, but I agree and think Evan is a much stronger competitor and opponent than Brad in all but one aspect of these shows - Evan loses his cool and can get flustered where Brad is seemingly solid as a rock.
Fact is, everyone is biased. Personal favorites, clients and friends, and one viewers' opinion versus a second differing viewer opinion are all reasons for it. We all cannot be insider's to these challenges or know the cast (although I wish I was as fortunate! Maybe I should start a career change now...) And until they cast some Juggernaut Challenge show that hosts all the of arguable "Top Dogs" of the Challenge to find out who is the best eliminating social strategy, alliances, and manipulation and just plain "duking it out" - we will never have one agreeable answer to all. And even if that did happen, where is the fun of debating differing opinions ;)
Total side-note: I was pretty ecstastic when Kim messaged me back on Facebook. Silly of me, I know, but it was nice to see someone respond back to a fan! =)
Add me onto the list of people who thinks Evan is one of the best competitors from the challenges. And I don't care for Evan much. To me, Brad is definitely a good competitor, I consider him one of my favorites, and I've been rooting for him on all of the challenges (to at least make it to the end, though this time it was bittersweet because it was over Landon), but I don't think he's better than Evan based on what I've seen. That doesn't mean Evan will always beat Brad, but for me it's not surprising when it happens.
What is surprising to me, however, is seeing Evan get so flustered sometimes since he is such a good competitor and seems to have some intelligence. It's not necessarily good to go into an elimination round all cocky, but it's not good to be overly nervous, either, I think. I'm sure he knows anything can happen in these games, but I think it might be better for him to try and work on keeping himself calmer in certain situations (however that can happen - easier said than done). Maybe nervous energy helps him, though?

I agree, Brad is not in the same league as guys like Alton, CT, Landon, and Evan. Those guys do great at everything and are top performers on virtually every challenge that they take part in.
I'd have to put those four guys at the top of the food chain, then a level below them is guys like Abe, Derrick, Wes, Darrell, and Mark. Guys that are solid performers and fairly consistent, but don't win as often as the other guys; these guys also tend to have a mission here and there that isn't really something they're strong at.
A level below these guys would be somebody like Brad. He's pretty consistent, but he's usually in the middle of the pack on a majority of the challenges and doesn't stand out as much as the others. He's been on a ton of challenges but the only challenge I ever remember him being the top performer on was the Roller Derby one on the first Duel where he won the bike.

I know this was a few years back, but on I2 on the episode where Mike wins the lifeshield and has to decide who to send in so they draw out of a hat, Darrell said something like "I know I'm the weakest guy here (on the good guys team) but I'm not about to volunteer myself into the Inferno." Now I know a lot of people here think that Darrell is one of the best, but this was from his from him.

This doesn't necessariy prove anything..Some people may have all the talent in one's eyes but can not see it through their own eyes..Darrell may have thought he was the weakest player on his team but that doesnt mean he is nor does this mean that everyone agrees with that opinion..I rather base a good competitor from statistics and how they play the game mentally..
Of course Darrell was the weakest one... he was left with Landon, The Miz, and Brad on the guys' side, but if you based it on the whole group of men who took part on the Good Guys then he wouldn't be the weakest one because Jon was on that team as well.
