I'm sure you've been telling yourself that for the last [strike]12[/strike] 13 years...
Actually I have! I'm an eternal optimist... you have to be to root for the Mets... Rangers & Jets!!! LOL
Red sox! Boston does dominate... http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings
Actually I have! I'm an eternal optimist... you have to be to root for the Mets... Rangers & Jets!!! LOL
Well, at least you're used to rooting for horrible teams, so your disappointment isn't as great as others with real contenders to cheer for. ;)
Enough with this 2.5 games under the Yanks stuff, let's win this one! C'mon Beckett, show 'em who's boss!
Enough with this 2.5 games under the Yanks stuff, let's win this one! C'mon Beckett, show 'em who's boss!
I'm watching, but I am more focused on the trade rumors! Is Trading Adrian Gonzalez in the Best Interest of the San Diego Padres? Also there is talk about Martinez and Cliff Lee from Cleveland. Come on Theo, sell the farm. We'll buy you a new one (at those ticket prices.)
Interesting. Do you think Gonzales would start at 1B moving Youk to 3B and Lowell coming on now and then when he is healthy? Also, YES to Cliff Lee!
Interesting. Do you think Gonzales would start at 1B moving Youk to 3B and Lowell coming on now and then when he is healthy? Also, YES to Cliff Lee!
I'm not sure how they would work it. In either event you'd have Lowell AND Ortiz sitting on the bench in a National League park in the World Series (yes, I think that far ahead, lol.) Terry before the game said, "Some of the people I hear talked about on the radio -- you guys have no idea.” That makes me excited!
Haha, I think that far ahead too! That does get me excited too. We have a good enough farm system where I could spare loosing Clay and the like, but I would prefer it to be for players like Lee.
via WEEI.com: The Red Sox sent outfielder/first baseman Mark Kotsay to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for minor-league outfielder Brian Anderson. Anderson, 27, was hitting .238 with a .322 OBP and .641 OPS, is considered a good defensive centerfielder who provides the Sox with defensive depth in case of injury. He will be assigned to Triple-A Pawtucket. He had been shipped to the minors by the White Sox, where he was hitting .279 with a .799 OPS in Triple-A Charlotte. Kotsay, who started for the Sox in last year's playoffs and returned in a reserve role this year, was hitting .257 with a .615 OPS. He was designated for assingment upon the arrival of first baseman Adam LaRoche on Saturday. According to a report on Yahoo! Sports, the Red Sox offered a package of pitchers Clay Buchholz and Michael Bowden and minor league outfielder Ryan Westmoreland to Toronto for Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay. The report goes on to say the Red Sox may be trying to get a third team involved in order to acquire the shortstop that Toronto covets, and that the Red Sox have declared pitchers Casey Kelly and Daniel Bard "off-limits". For more on trade deadline see the Full Count Blog. YOU HEAR THAT BACCHUS! HALLADAY IS POTENTIALLY COMING TO BEANTOWN!!!!!
YOU HEAR THAT BACCHUS! HALLADAY IS POTENTIALLY COMING TO BEANTOWN!!!!!
As long as we keep Bard (who should be 100% untouchable) then I might be popping some champagne in the near future! :D
THey already said Bard is 100% off limits.
The Braves are doing fairly better than they were but they need to get their ***** in gear soon. And yes we were doing so bad that 3 games over 500 is considered good.
My CUBBIES are in 1st in NL_Central!!! :dance4: Go, Cubs, Go Hey Chicago what you do say the Cubs are going to win today!!
UPDATE: Bradford says the #redsox and #Indians are close to a trade that would send Lee to Boston for Bowden, Reddick and another prospect
[via WEEI] They are also deep in talks over Adrian Gonzalez! Could Christmas come early to Beantown this year?
B, my man, Nick Cafardo just said that the Sox shot down the report of the Halladay trade that added Buchholz to the mix.
B, my man, Nick Cafardo just said that the Sox shot down the report of the Halladay trade that added Buchholz to the mix.
I think they are saving Clay for Gonzalez. ;)
Who knows B. If they get GOnzalez, they better get rid of someone from first base. They'll have like 6 first basemen.
Previous reports of an imminent Cliff Lee-to-Boston trade are false. Apparently a person created a fake WEEI Twitter account and posted the rumor. Cliff Lee is still very much in play, and the Dodgers are considered "front-runners" by a handful of experts. The Phillies are also picking up talks. Cliff Lee Rumor has been shot down.

:( looks like Christmas isn't coming early to Beantown.
We could be dealing with three more days of this, so we might as well kick back and enjoy the ride. I am going to try and break my habit of refreshing MLBTradeRumors.com every 5 minutes.
:( looks like Christmas isn't coming early to Beantown.
The Sox are in every deal. Our farm system rocks. Something will come out of this, I promise. Just not yet...

MLB trade: Cliff Lee traded to Philadelphia Phillies by Cleveland Indians - ESPN The bad news is the Sox did not get him. The good news is that means we move to the top of the Halladay sweepstakes.

I have been COMPLETELY out of the loop on baseball this year..... I don't even have a CLUE to how my own team, the St. Louis Cardinals, are doing. Sad but true from a former avid baseball lover. Bacch, how about your boys in Boston? Do they look like they have a good shot at making it to the series this year? Also, memo to Cubs fans: loyalty to your team is all well and good, but there's no need to get nasty! I worked a concert in Chicago Sunday and a guy asked me if I could give him directions from the concert to O'Hare airport.... I said sorry I couldn't as I am from St. Louis, MO and don't know the area that well. His response was, "Great, thanks a lot *****. And by the way the Cardinals ****ing suck." Now that was just a tad uncalled for! I probably should mention that it was the end of the concert and the guy was hammered but STILL. Sour grapes are not attractive on anyone Cubbies! ;)
Bacch, how about your boys in Boston? Do they look like they have a good shot at making it to the series this year?
The Red Sox have a good chance every year.
Well not this year Bach. If we have the human train wreck who so far has given up a solo homer with 1 PITCH! and is losing 2-0 with runners at the corners with 1 out, still on our team, we are screwed.

What we consider to be doing poorly for most cities is the BEST SEASON EVAH! ;)
