You really can't compare saw to a "slasher" flick.
It's not necessarily comparing the movies themselves, but rather the direction that modern horror has taken. And the fact that the older school series sequels were waaay better than most of the Saw sequels. That is, however, in the eye of the beholder, of course.
There will always be clasics like Friday the 13th and Halloween. But I do believe that teenagers will put saw above 80's slasher movies, which is why they are trying to remake the 80's films. They have an entire new generation to turn ;)
People will like see the Saw series exceed F13 and Nightmare on Elm Street and say that Saw was the best horror franchise ever. It sickens me to even hear that. Nothing will ever compare to F13 and Nightmare on elm street. It's as if, people will forget the legacies of Jason and Freddy. That's what sickens me. All They'll be talking about is Jigsaw.
It's hard to believe that this is the 6th movie in the series. I am a fan of the series but admittedly isn't the same without Jigsaw. Still the last one was good so I think this will be too.

The last one was really good. But now, who makes the "games"? Should be interesting to watch.
But in V he went in that Crystal box didn't he?
Were you watching the movie? Strahm walked into the room, hit play on the tape, was told to get into the box, didn't get into the box, Hoffman walked in, they fought, he threw Hoffman in the box, and the box lowered into the floor and he was safe and the room crushed Strahm to death.

I'd still like to see this this weekend if I have the time. From what I've read online it is VERY gory.
I don't really like the Saw series. Saw SIX? I think they're going way too far. They should've stopped after the first movie, IMO.
Seems like people tend to REALLY like them or REALLY don't. To each they're own, but I really enjoy the series. :D

I really enjoy it too! :-) Went and saw pt. 6 tonight and I loved it. These Saw movies never let me down!
Wow! I would have thought that being a hot girl and black would mean that she would die first for sure.
Lol. How in the world did u come up with this conclusion?
Lol. How in the world did u come up with this conclusion?
I think he is basing it on past horror movies...the black guy/girl almost always dies and the hot girl usually dies first.
At least I think...don't quote me on that.
I saw it on Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised! I really enjoyed it!
If you like blood and guts its for you.
It was banned in spain for getting an X rating!

Exactly. Unless there is something to get him out, he is stuck in the box underground.

I'm sure there was a way for him to get out...that would make the entire point of the box pointless if he couldn't get out.
I am hoping that is part of VI, but I haven't seen it yet so I couldn't tell you.

Yes it is explained in VI. I really liked it.
