That is not cool. Total disrespect to that player.

I absolutely love this conundrum. I'd say on at least 22 teams in baseball, they'd all be the Ace. And I can already say with confidence, Clay Buchholz is going to come to the forefront this season. And I'm not that sad about having a Dice-K/Wakefield 5th starter issue...
Yes, you heard it hear first. The Red Sox will not only have the best record in the AL East, but all of baseball. I calculate 105 wins. Note: I will start whining about the Yankee's payroll in late April/Early May and will go back on the above statement, practically boycotting baseball (although still watching every Red Sox game, which is not an effective boycott) but as it stands now, I stand 100% by my prognostication!
Eff. Source: Johnny Damon, Detroit Tigers agree to $8M contract - ESPN
Suprised he got 8 million. Didn't think he garnered that kind of money.
So basically you guys gave the Yankees 28 year old (hitting his prime) Curtis Granderson for 36 year old Johnny "Old Man Judas" Damon and are paying him 4.5 Million more a year for the swap. Sounds like a great deal! ;)
Suprised he got 8 million. Didn't think he garnered that kind of money.
Yeah...hence the "eff". Never been that impressed by Johnny Damon ... As for the BoSox, probably one of my fav AL teams... mainly because being here in AZ we are still Schilling fans. I'd rather be a BoSox fan than a Patriots fan any day of the week. ... More chances to take a bat to the Yankees ... I don't think 105 but I'll give you 85 easy, maybe even 90. My DBacks will probably get about 80.

Not that good, even though we have a deep farm team (2nd behind the Rangers. The Yankees are 28th overall.) The thing is, we don't have enough of the Kobe Beef (i.e superstars.) The good news? I was looking at those players in the Tampa and Miami systems and thinking how easy they will be to poach in three to five years when they are demanding 10 million a year. ;)

Yes! The Red Sox are beating Northeastern with a split squad, 15-0 in the 6th! This is an omen! From these early results, I can accurately extrapolate out that we will win the World Series this year in 4 games. Great news for Red Sox Nation!
I am watching The Mets play the Cardinals on MLB Network, so excited that Spring Training is here. I am really looking forward to the baseball season. MMMMMM an Evan Longoria commercial for MLB 2K10, he is so yummy.
MMMMMM an Evan Longoria commercial for MLB 2K10, he is so yummy.
I said the same thing for the Joe Mauer one.
I said the same thing for the Joe Mauer one.
Joe Mauer is a god, now he is drool worthy. However I cant decide which Twin I like more, Mauer or Morneau. I love blonde, pale guys with blue eyes and he is Canadian! I go back and forth but I think Morneau edges out Mauer. They are both so dreamy.

I mean...ahem. Go Tigs!

I'm actually about 1 mile away from Scottsdale Stadium where the Giants hold Spring Training for the Cactus League. Next year, the DBacks & Rockies will be up in Scottsdale as well. ... bet you wish you could see Cactus League or Grapefruit League games every day.
Our break-up might hve been bad but it feels great to have you back again. Love you forever #5!
Nomar Garciaparra retires as a Red Sox‎
How awesome is that? I just shed a tear. ;)

Becket was perfect over his first 3 innings. We overpaid! Joe Nathan will be out for a while it looks like and Webb is nowhere near 100% because his head not really in the game yet.
Joe Nathan will be out for a while it looks like and Webb is nowhere near 100% because his head not really in the game yet.
Ouch. Nathan is out for the season. This is devastating news to Twins fans everywhere... The consensus is that they go from contender to pretender with this blow as you bump everyone up in the pen and it costs you 5-10 wins down the stretch. Hmm, I wonder if the Twins start off dragging out of the gate, maybe Mauer might start to consider another team to sign with next year. I know he loves his hometown, but players of his caliber know that to become an immortal of the sport you need a ring and I personally don't think that the Twins organization is a place where he can get one in the next 8-10 years, being they'll always have the Red Sox and Yankees in their path to the series (with both of those organizations in a high priced "nuclear" arms race.)

8 years? Dang! Yea, I don't see him getting a ring with the Twins any time soon. It's a shame, would have loved to have him on the Sox.
An extension that big means he'll never get traded unless some team is willing to part with a lot in the back end of the contract around year 6 or so. It will be even worse for them if he goes down with an injury for a season in the next 3 years.

That can be a serious amount of ouch too.
