I think they will finish up the current contract and that is it. So RW: NO, Challenge, RW: Wherever, Challenge. The end. The ratings are horrific. They should build a little next week if they get a lot of replay viewers and enhance the audience, but clearly people are moving on to even trashier offerings...
Bummer. It'll be a sad day when the Reality TV Godfather goes down, but all good things...I suppose. They should make the final challenge way epic. Get some really, really old school peeps involved.

Get some really, really old school peeps involved.
That's what I've always thought. The final challenge should be a huge event, with a huge cast, and an effort made to get the best variety of RW and RR people from the beginning until the latest seasons. And I'd love it to be a RW vs. RR one. Or maybe even allowing the alumni to come up with their own pairs or something. I wouldn't be surprised if the shows end soon. It will be really weird without them around, but they've run for so long, and they aren't quite the same. Especially The Real World. It has to end eventually.
Amen to that, sister.
Why do you want it to end? I think it does a lot of good for the youth of America, unlike other reality shows.
Why do you want it to end? I think it does a lot of good for the youth of America, unlike other reality shows.
No, The Real World used to do a lot of good for the youth of America. Because for every season where they have the potential to enlighten, educate, or even stimulate our "youth" they have 5 seasons of debauchery which only further serves to lower the standard we set for ourselves as a society. There's no getting away from the fact that The Real World used to be socially relevant but chose to go for the low-hanging fruit and gear the show in a different direction (either that or they dramatically lowered the casting standards in which case the show itself is still culpable). And being that virtually everywhere else took their queue from TRW the show is also just as culpable for having its hand in creating the downward trend resulting in the litany of vitriolic programming which plagues our screens today. Not that I enjoy proving Godwin's Law, but eventually you have to stop pointing the finger at the SS Soldiers and start going after Hitler. Unfortunately, much as with drug cartels, once one superpower is overthrown there exists another thug or mobster to step into its place.
I really don't agree with you on that one. I think the (mike Dc) and you have done a lot for people. You go around and see what you did and continue on spreading the word about LGBT rights. Without the real world many people would have been confused and scared. Maybe because of what you and Mike did (in the past few seasons) people will feel good about themselves for the first time in their lives and think things are going to be okay for once. I think getting rid of the real world will hurt a lot of people. Yes it's not what is used to be, but we still get a few "good people" and that makes it all worth it.
Dude, it's just a tv show and if your luck or happiness depends on the existence of The Real World, then something's wrong with you.
Dude, it's just a tv show and if your luck or happiness depends on the existence of The Real World, then something's wrong with you.
I am not saying me. I know for a fact there are many people who are inspired by the people on the real world, ask Kate I am sure she comes across them on her tours. I have an opinion and so do you. No need to be rude.

Maybe I was a bit rude, sorry for that.
They should do what they did for Hollywood and Brooklyn.I don't know what they did but it worked. Those season seemed the most real to me.Hopefully they will learn from their mistakes (doubtful) and will revamp the whole series. PS: Somebody really should get the producers to read this.

K8lynn, **** girl, that post was epic. Brava... (Godwin's Law reference, FTW!) And RMD, no, one or two like-able cast members every once in a blue moon, does not a flourishing series make. I've watched The Real World since it started, and besides Chicago and Brooklyn, NONE of my favorite seasons were post-Vegas. The show was past it's prime a long, long time ago.

I have a feeling 2morows episode ratings are going to be really good :D
I have a feeling 2morows episode ratings are going to be really good :D
Really? I don't. They are not replaying last week's episode at all tomorrow. Despite the low ratings this is still the #3 best rated show on MTV. I wish they would make an effort to replay the show to help boost ratings. I certainly hope you're right though.
Episode 2 picked up 1.243 million.
Episode 2 picked up 1.243 million.
Maybe they need to change the time slot.
Episode 2 picked up 1.243 million.
That blows, because this episode was awesome and this season is shaping up to be totally different. They totally need to show reruns!
Well they didnt have a good preview for last nights episode..they just gave a season preview because they didn't want to give a lot away...which was kinda dumb because a better promo would have helped. Last nights episode was a good episode. For shows to get a high rating on mtv some idiot has to hit a girl...
Here are the full ratings. Episode 2 Ratings Real World Road Rules Challenge - 1.243 million viewers - 0.9/2 HH - 0.8/2 A18-49 - 1.5/5 W18-34 A loss of over 100,000 viewers. I really, really hope that MTV puts on a lot of reruns every week and airs a lot of promos. Lets hope they pick up next week...
This was the best episode of a challenge in the past couple of years IMO, they better re-run it to ****!
This was the best episode of a challenge in the past couple of years IMO, they better re-run it to hell!
I agree. The viewers wanted a change of events, they got it. The villain went into exile and won, but it doesn't look too good for him. If people see the episode in a re-run I have no doubts that they will get attached and tune in to see the outcome. But it looks like MTV is rerunning this one less than the premiere.
Is MTV trying to screw this series into the ground? It really annoys me that they run a 16 and Pregnant marathon EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND!! They still show episodes from the first season. They can't simply show an episode of Fresh Meat 2 after a highly-viewed show? Why didn't they show a re-run from 3:00 - 4:00 today, was Parental Control really necessary? END RANT/
And ya know, it really bothers me how MTV runs marathons on the day of the finale for other shows leading up to the big episode, but for RW/RR they don't do any of that. Example: 16 and Pregnant finale night next Tuesday. Marathon featuring all episodes of the show leading up to the big episode... We never saw this for D.C? The Ruins? Cancun? Duel 2? Brooklyn? I don't know why MTV doesn't air that many reruns for this show. Its beyond me. They ran like 55-trillion reruns for Jersey Shore and marathons over the weekends. Same with 16&P and Teen Mom, but then RW/RR barely gets anything. :scratch_one-s_head:

I just really don't see it either.
SPK, we were just ranting on the same thing. LOL. Thats sad. I just really don't see it either.
:D That's great :laugh1: I think MTV wants this series to go to the *******. It's a shame, the Real World is the father of reality shows. :(
The whole problem here is that the ratings are already so low that there's no way other than showing tons of reruns to get them up. It's got a weird time slot and people will not just randomly tune into it while channel surfing. If anybody thought fresh meat was going to automaticaly pick up ratings they're mistaken. What they need to do is advertise like crazy for hte next real world and start playing reruns like they used to twice a day.
I AM SHOCKED!!! i really though the ratings were going to pick up.:[ Hopefully next week ppl wil tune in for the jenn vs mandi fight..
I remember in the old days when they not only reran the previous episodes before the finale..but they reran the past seasons in a huuuuuuuuuge marathon for real world. Why MTV doesn't promote it as well as they could is beyond me..but hey its MTV who have forgotten what the M in their name means, and have turned into the reality network. I think them making a deal with Hulu or something to post past challenges or something, and pick up the advertising on their own channel. BMP should also pressure MTV into helping them, unless BMP also wants to get past the challenges and real world.

It was definitely on of the best in a long time.
