Half the cast left from LAX, half left from JFK.
Okay that make sense.
[strike]so basically, based on the first two eliminations, the vets are doing well. My only concern for that team is that they will get complacent and start losing challenges on purpous in order to get rid of some of their players. Lastly, even though many people think eric is a weak competitor there is something that you need to realize if lets say that the elimination round is something like a sumo fight, and has a high importance on body weight and not speed, eric has an advantage. In a way you could see him eliminate a lot of the competitors if that was the case.[/strike] So basically, based on the first two eliminations, the vets are doing well.
In a way you could see (Eric) eliminate a lot of the competitors if that was the case.
I don't think Eric would have had a chance against anyone in most of the Gauntlet 1 eliminations. I mean Hangman? Dead Man's Drop? Perfect Fit? Ride 'Em Cowboy? It's just luck of the draw. On the topic of location, "across the pond" virtually always means UK-US, and more specifically the Island of Great Britain. Its a British expression; its not supposed to be used to refer to mainland Europe. Google it. I gotta believe they're somewhere in Great Britain (that is England, Scotland, or Wales). I hope they're in an old castle in Scotland. That'd be awesome.

Edit: You are right, Google was very helpful. See... So using the phrase "across the pond" one really could be referring to any country on the other side of the Atlantic from the US.

Will the UK landscape even look good on camera, its a bit boring, if you know what I mean. Especially following Thailand and Canada.
I think the UK countryside was beautiful. And to be fair, When I was younger, I used to associate Europe with the UK because it's closest (besides Iceland and Ireland) to America. P.S. can one of the mods change joshboxx's name to joshfireboxx hahahaha. JK Josh, you're my east coast bud! I just like making myself laugh. :)
Heck... across the pond could mean anywhere in Europe.....maybe they are in Italy -the lovely TJ Lavin
Too lazy at the moment to go back and look up who it was that used the term "Across the pond"... but, I don't think you can automatically assume they're using to mean US-UK. I agree it means somewhere in Europe but just because the phrase is USUALLY referring to US-UK, doesn't mean that it was in this particular instance.
Too lazy at the moment to go back and look up who it was that used the term "Across the pond"...
It was Mark Long in a tweet to Emilee as you can see in the most recent post in the Spoiler thread for this Challenge.
OK, still, granted "across the pond" may mean anywhere in Europe according to Google, But I know a few people from England. And they say that term is specifically used by those from Britain.

You can't assume that Mark used it correctly or how it's usually used. I'm sure he didn't google the term before he posted.
OK, still, granted "across the pond" may mean anywhere in Europe according to Google, But I know a few people from England. And they say that term is specifically used by those from Britain.
I actually had this conversation with my mom earlier tonight (who is British) and she said that technically it can be used for anything over the Atlantic, but that generally it is used as a US-UK reference. This is Mark Long we're talking about here...not Christopher Columbus.
Just a reminder:
You can NOT discuss: 3. What kind of challenge you think this is Anybody not following these rules will be warned, infracted, and/or banned as necessary. Don't say we didn't warn you.
Assuming that, like most people, Mark didn't research the exact connotation of "across the pond", I think they're in one of the following locations if they decided to go for one of the more tropical locations (as they usually do for the spring challenges). I know people who studied in these places/went to these places/have been to some of these places recently so I've heard pretty extensively about them: -French Riviera: Nice, Normandy, Cannes, Antibes, St. Tropez -Spanish beaches: Malaga, Alicante, Ibiza, Canary Islands (I could really see them going here, actually), Valencia, Barcelona -Italian coast: Cinque Terre (in the north, but amazing cliffs, good for water challenges and absolutely beautiful--very secluded though and you have to hike everywhere so maybe not so much), Naples, Rome (actual Rome is a little inland but it's really close to the beach and they could play up being in Rome without actually being within the city limits), there are also some little coastal towns in Italy that they could be in. Doubt they're in Greece, I really don't think MTV would risk it with the current state of the country and how close it is to collapse.
They went to Thailand when it wasnt that safe either..
They went to Thailand when it wasnt that safe either..
Thailand is has different safety issues than Greece does. Greece's infrastructure and economy is on the verge of collapse, flights in and out are getting cancelled every day and people are constantly going on strike. I highly doubt they would risk their cast and crew getting stranded in Greece, which has happened to countless people I know.
Wild Speculation!
Yup, I'm just spewing names of locations I've heard of. I definitely have absolutely no informational basis other than travel knowledge of my own!
I wanted Vinny to do well. I wonder if he lost at a puzzle.
Yea I would think he lost in a puzzle because physically he seems pretty strong unless he lost to a very strong competitor. I'm pretty surprised he went home this early you would think the Fresh Meat would work together since there's so many of them.
I'm glad...unlike some I wasnt wowed by Vinny on FM2, he seems a like a Danny to me..looks strong but doesnt perform as you would expect.
I'm glad...unlike some I wasnt wowed by Vinny on FM2, he seems a like a Danny to me..looks strong but doesnt perform as you would expect.
[strike]sounds like danny too.[/strike] He sounds like Danny too.
Yeah why would it be sooo crazy if Vinny got eliminated by something physical. Obviosuly he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed and even though he looks like a competitor, it doesn't mean he is one... he was eliminated second on FM2, after all. He hasn't proved anything.
I don't think he's proven himself. I wanted him to do well but he didn't, so whatever. The main person i'm rooting for to win is Paula.
he was eliminated second on FM2, after all. He hasn't proved anything.
He was taken out by Laurel and Kenny, one of the strongest if not the strongest team there. Plus, it was a close exile.

I'm more surprised that people are surprised that he is eliminated early than him actually leaving. I don't think he's that great. I also think that Derek was actually first eliminated then Emilee then Vinny.
He was taken out by Laurel and Kenny, one of the strongest if not the strongest team there. Plus, it was a close exile.
It was close, but all I am saying is he didn't really prove himself. He was on 2 episodes (3 if you count Meet the Meat). I didn't mean any offense by it.
