Preston asks Ryan if he will clean. So to Ryan that is "getting in his face." I dont agree with what either of them are doing- but I think Preston does it because he knows it gets under Ryans skin. Ryan is another story. He doesnt know what to do in an argument, or what to say because his anger is usually created by his own drama. So- he just says the meanings thing he can think of (i.e. trailor trash, ***) He knows that everyone in the house thinks he is a drama queen- so he calls his brother. He is showing how ignorant he is. If Preson is making him think poorly of gay people, it should also make him think poorly of african-americans. So that itself shows how ignorant he is.
But I am saying there are some people out there who are gay, and say things like that.
I'm just butting in on this convo to say that you are right, and this is evidenced by the fact that it was revealed that Preston also called Ryan a 'fa***t' while in that house.
This drunken conversation is way too funny.
Hahha, Jemmye cracks me up. At first I thought I wasn't going to like her, but I love her. She's great.
Yeah it seems like Preston wanted Ryan to act up, and say or do something. He was also calling Ryan the f word, but that's okay I guess? They're both wrong, maybe they should go on "If you really knew me" haha.
best line in the thread! Lol

I'm kinda annoyed with the roomates who know Preston urinated on ryan's tooth brush and didnt tell him about it
Mtv just missed bleeping it out once.

I guess Preston just responded to what some of you guys where saying. That word is wrong.
Thank you, I was beginning to think maybe I worded things wrong, but I'm glad at least one person sees what I'm trying to say.
It all depends on context. Going to college in SF, I met a lot of gay guys and gals, a lot of them called themselves **** all the time. I even used it a few times with really close friends. But just like the n word, it all depends on context.
I'm kinda annoyed with the roomates who know Preston urinated on ryan's tooth brush and didnt tell him about it
Me too, even if they don't like Ryan they should say something.
Me too, even if they don't like Ryan they should say something.
Looks like they do eventually end up telling him
It all depends on context. Going to college in SF, I met a lot of gay guys and gals, a lot of them called themselves **** all the time. I don't agree with Ryan calling Preston that, or with Preston calling Ryan it.
Its not right to use that word... ever.
Yeah, and that is what I am saying. I never use that word. But I do know a lot of people who do, gay and straight, and it depends on the context. It isn't cool at all.
Not really sure what is the right word to use...but I guess I will go with funny...I think its funny that Preston will comes off looking worse to the roomates even though what Ryan did was just as bad. But does Ryan seriously try to press charges for that?? After what he did? And his is on film...***?
It was nice to see more of Ashlee in this episode. I got really excited when I heard her say that she's not only a communications major, but ALSO loves doing radio stuff! That's what I'm pursuing in college and I was quite jealous to see that she and Preston got right onto a radio station in New Orleans. SO JEALOUS. As for the Ryan/Preston situation, as a gay female I understand the hurt that Preston went through during his childhood. I lost a few friends over my sexuality so I know exactly where he's coming from, and it sucks. At the same time, he called Ryan that word first and he should know better seeing that he is gay. He did admit at the end of the episode that he only uses it so that people think it won't bother him. I feel like they were both being really chilidsh (Preston peeing on Ryan's toothbrush, Ryan putting Preston's cigarettes up his ***, etc) about the whole situation. Ryan does seem like a huge pain in the ***. I wish we could see more of Sahar and Eric. :(

Both of them really want to cause physical harm for each other. If it wasn't for zero-tolerance to physical violence, it would have been Jersey Shore in that house!

I live in a not so good neighborhood and boy do they drop the "N" and the "M" like its nothing.
I really thought Ryan's comment about Preston making him see gay people a negative way was sooo stupid. I wouldn't say he's making me see white men a certain way because I can't stand his behavior! Why is it when it's a minority, ignorant people think one represents all? Ignorant. But as for the fight, they are both wrong. Preston is no angel either because I can tell he WANTED to fight with Ryan when he went upstairs and he was disappointed when he wasn't. It wasn't just about asking him to clean, he was going on and on like he was really looking for a fight and was getting mad when Ryan wasn't saying anything back at first. My favorite castmember is Knight. He seems like a funny, cool guy that would be fun to hang around. Jemmye is fun and seems real too.
Yea it depends where you live. I don't really take part in it obviously...
I agree with what Knight said about how he thinks Ryan is afraid he might be gay due to the fact that people call him gay. I know not all male hairdressers, but Ryan should know a few being in the business, whether it be through the school they went to, or through work. Also, judging by his style he probably does hair for a few gay males as well. This in addition to the comment he made about his views on gays make me feel like he has tried to avoid becoming close friends with anyone who is gay. He sees Preston as a gay guy. While everyone else sees Preston as Preston, a roomate/friend who happens to be gay. I am not trying to defend Preston, I think he is immature as well, I just think Ryan is very ignorant and very insecure.
wow this episode was really good. Mckenzi going off with that guy and him offering her more drinks (to get her wasted and probably have sex with her) reminds me so much of the real world. It also scared the crap out of me during the commercial break I thought something bad would happen. Ryan is obviously insecure/uncomfortable about soemthing. I'm not saying he's gay... but he gets worked up over nothing, even his phone conversations are about Preston. Not just because Preston called him gay but even when Preston had sex with Maxwell, Ryan was right on that phone talking about him. Like, why do you give a crap and no one else does?

When will Sahar and Eric get a storyline? I literally don't know much about them.
If Eric and Sahar get a storyline it'll basically be Jemmye & Knight 2.0.
Mckenzie really annoys me. Ryan is a very insecure individual. I am kind of starting to like Ashley a lot. She seems like a cool and fun chick!
Mckenzie really annoys me. Ryan is a very insecure individual. I am kind of starting to like Ashley a lot. She seems like a cool and fun chick!
CGR bro! How can Mckenzie annoy you lol? Her beauty is blocking me from understanding what she is saying. It's like the teacher from Charlie Brown. Actually better reference, from the movie "Not Another Teen Movie." When the girl walks in a room, and everyone stops what they are doing, and just admire her beauty with the music in the background lol. That's how I feel about Mckenzie when she talks lol....that came across sort of weird :-/.
In semi-alphabetical order: Ashlee: I already viewed her as a breath of fresh air to The Real World akin to Scott Herman, Mike Manning and Isaac Stout (to name a few), but her defending Preston and getting him back into the bar gave her, like, an elementary, secondary and high school's worth of extra credit! Eric: High-yellow hotness. I'd like to see a storyline from him, but even still, I like him a lot. Jemmye: Raw and real! Someone in another thread compared her to Snookie--a southern version of Snookie and I love it. That, and she reminds me of my former boss at my old job at Aeropostale. Ryan Knight: I thought he'd be bland as ****, but he's definitely proven me otherwise. His accent cracks me up, and that's an added bonus because he reminds me of the moose from Brother Bear. I typically loathe these dating storylines, but his and Jemmye's is, like, hard not to actually want to watch. lol McKenzie: Actually, she kind of reminds me of myself--conservative. Not only that, but she has ****ty friends and tends to go for the wrong people--those who string her in--and it's only after the fact when she realizes it...story of my life. One key difference is that I don't drink. Preston: My man! He's not my type (i.e., too flamboyant), but he'd open my mind up. ;) He went up even more points when he, you know, stated that we gays really need to quit using "***" as regular speak, and the same with us Blacks and the "N" word. The only negative thing I have on him is how he handled Ryan because he simply played into Ryan's frail little hand, both at the McDonald's on St. Charles and at the Dufossat house with the toothbrush. Other than that, he's one of my all-time faves. Then again, so is the rest of the cast...even Ryan. Sahar: I love how she always sounds like he has a cold. I'd like to see a storyline from her, but even still, I like her a lot. Ryan: Yikes. If he's constantly been teased about being gay (not saying that he is gay or bi), then of course he'll have a stigma about it. Hell, as much as I love skinny jeans and as much as I wear them, I have a stigma about it because I hate the fact that people can clearly "tell" that I'm gay. Either way, I'm not going to constantly ***** about it, or be passive-aggressive. Him constantly saying the most homophobic **** is inexcusable, no matter how he said it, nor why he said it! Either way, he and Presto were both being immature as ****. Even Ryan's brother basically said it on the phone: if you're not gay, then why are you constantly bringing it up about people calling you gay?? All you're doing is making yourself look suspect--you're bring more and more attention to yourself, but then again, that's clearly what he wants. Great episode, great cast, great season and GREATEST city.
Yes very true. If you dont like being called gay, and dont like people thinking you are gay- its probably not a good idea to ask the gay roomate if he would sleep with you if you were gay, and then getting offended when he says no.

Yes you're not going to as angry about it because you actually are gay while Ryan repeatedly has told his roommates he is not so it's a completely different situation. I dont see it as insecure that he get upset about his sexuality constantly being questioned by his roommates.
