Real World: New Orleans - Season Finale

It's been a running theme with the current seasons -- Eric (New Orleans), Josh (DC), Derek (Cancun), Baya (Brooklyn) -- the list goes on and on with cast members the editors just tend to ignore for some reason. It's even more interesting when the cast members they lived with speak out on their behalf, claiming they did so many interesting things while filming and do not understand why these specific individuals are never shown.
Who are these people you speak of? :D
;) And just an example of what the editors COULD have shown more of with Eric....I had NO IDEA the building of that house was still going on. It showed up in an early episode and was never brought up again until the finale. Showing more of that could have given us more insight to Eric...and even McKenzie. I'm not sure why editors choose to completely ignore certain things (that I personally find WAY more interesting and more old-fashioned "Real World worthy" than puking on the sidewalks and breaking telephones).

I think Baya got a lot of screentime too, it just wasn't interesting in either of her two featured episodes involving dance. Haven't seen all of NOLA yet but I agree about Eric. Not sure where I stand on Josh. One thing is for certain, that guy they cast every year named Subway certainly gets a ton of screentime to never say anything. I wish they would tell his story!
This actually was one of the best RW season finales that I've seen in a while.
This actually was one of the best RW season finales that I've seen in a while.
AGREED!!! The last few years I start watching new seasons and never finish because I'm so bored! I loved NOLA!!! The season finale was a tad boring though :sad1:
I didn't see much of the finale and likely will not at this point. I was surprised they showed them doing the photography though. I guess that was the only way they could get Ryan back onto the screen, but BMP traditionally has been good about keeping the behind the scenes production aspects off the broadcast.

I actually think that The Real World is a MUCH better 30 minute show than a 60 minute show. The stories often don't have an hour of footage to go with them. 30 minutes lest the editing be crisper and tighter, allows a better spread of characters to focus on, and allows more opportunities to show the cast goofing off. The scene with the bathtub was the best scene in months. That's the kind of garbage that used to make The Challenges so much fun; I don't know why BMP has decided to stop airing things like that or looking for cast members who do things like that.
If you check out the dailies, there was a lot more to the tub scene - and it is hilarious!
First I was the same way with Fresh Meat 2 though i may go back and watch it. Secondily, I was suprised too. They should do this more often.
I have a strong feeling that the only reason they showed the photo shoot was because, after reviewing the footage they captured, they didn't feel the rest of the cast was able to carry out the entire finale without Ryan... which is really sad, because he's not even that compelling... just the only one that was doing something other than breathing and sleeping in that house.
I kinda felt the same way in the back of my head that they only showed it because of Ryan was there. And the finale wasn't even that bad leading up to his return. Also, since when did they start showing "coming up" and "next on.." writing?
I wish Ryan had been gone for more episodes. I enjoyed the last two episodes because you could the other 7 all genuinely liked each other and it just felt like without Ryan this could have been another one of those really fun casts like San Diego, but they had that rain cloud constantly hovering. I still loved the season though, and the cast (except Ryan, of course).
Wow, I didn't know that.
At the reunion they said they have nothing in common and are on opposite sides of the totem poll. I highly doubt they will edit that in and show us though.
McKenzie and Ashlee don't like eachother so your theory fails :blum:
Well not really because even if they didn't like each other, it doesn't seem like it was that big of a deal and they were all still able to have fun despite this apparent dislike. Not to mention the proof in the last two episodes they all looked like they were having a lot of fun with one another.

I just think they don't feel as strong of a bond to each other as some of the others because they aren't alike in any way at all. I think there's a difference between not getting along with someone and just understanding you are two completely different people.

They probably just don't interact as much as the other cast members do, or even at all.
That could be true. I definitely don't think Ashlee and McKenzie's feelings towards each other even compare to how everyone felt about Ryan.
I was surprised they showed as much of that as they did.
I haven't watched the dailies too much since Brooklyn. Maybe 2 or 3 for Cancun and DC and none for this season. Part of it is my way of protesting that they put a lot of the footage on there that they should be putting on the broadcast IMO. Whether the show is half an hour or an hour, they should put more of the fun times on TV instead of only the petty bickering and serious backstory discussion footage. I guess there is no perfect way of doing it though. In my mind, Chicago was a good season but at the time it seemed like they showed too much telephone room footage.
