Last night's episode was great! They are really going to blow the doors off when next week's episode rolls around.
My new theory: Ashley is helping Emily.
Hmmm... that's a theory I hadn't thought of...
Vicotoria certainly had a rough 'evening' last night!
I can't wait to see what part Tyler plays in the big engagement party...
Ashley's character (also named Ashley) said that they reshot the entire Fire and Ice party...so I wonder if it's possible that Daniel is still alive!! Apparently Mike Kelley (the creator) is really responding to what the fans like and don't like, which is great.
It was definitely Tyler that stole her box. Remember last time we saw him, and he tripped over that spot on the floor where the box was. He knew something was there

I honestly don't get that vibe when it comes to Ashley. I think they would have showed something by now had she been helping Emily in any form. Especially in this episode. The looks that Ashley gives Emily aren't that of the "I'm in the know" kind.

I think it's definitely possible. I'm sure when they wrote that opening scene that they didn't know exactly how it was going to go.

I have this feeling that it wasn't Tyler. Isn't Tyler in jail? Or somewhere far away? I think it's someone new or perhaps Jack for some reason. I'm thinking that Amanda finally caught up to him and told him everything. She seemed to be done with the entire thing at the end of this episode.

Which is exactly why it would be the perfect cliffhanger!!

Do you (or anyone else) remember at the engagement party in episode 1, Amanda said "You shouldn't be here" to Noel, and he responded with "That makes two of us"?? It could be Tyler.
The other option could be that Amanda's the shooter and Jack's trying to help her cover it up. But I have a feeling he's going to be the one taking the fall...
I'll tell you what though, if Victoria's screaming DANIEL DANIEL DANIELLLLLLLLLLL and he pops up and goes "oh hey guys", I'm going to laugh.
Spoilers, btw (not "who's the dead guy on the beach", but more plot):
Is everything going to come to a head once we get to the murder ep? Like, does anyone find out something about Emily’s plan, thus spurring the murder? — Jen
Oh, with the specifics, Jen! But what I can tell you is that the show will throw many surprises into the so-called murder episode, but EP Mike Kelley is still keeping some stuff up his sleeve. “It’s pretty spooky what happens on the beach because we’re going into a trial for the murderer. Some of the surprises are going to come out in upcoming episodes, after the engagement party. But there will be one thing that people did not see coming,” he tells EW’s Tanner Stransky.
Is Emily going to question what she’s doing or feel bad about who she’s hurting? — Kirsten
If you mean, ‘Does Emily have a heart?’, the answer is absolutely. In fact, it sort of gets in the way around the time of the engagement party. “The reason that Emily doesn’t cancel this party is because she’s trying to protect somebody that’s been abducted. Somebody has been kidnapped as insurance,” Kelley said. ” She’s going through with the engagement party to protect an innocent.” Oh, souls; they’re so pesky.
Any hints as to why Nolan is so cold to Emily at the engagement party? Is that something we see happen closer to the murder episode or something that’s a slow build? — Tracy
Can’t say. But speaking of slow build, you should prepare for exactly that when it comes to the David Clarke mystery at large, according to Kelley. “There’s no end to that, until the series comes to a conclusion, especially now that we have these tapes and we have new ways of learning truths,” he dishes. “The fact that Emily didn’t know that Charlotte is her sister, there are revelations that Emily is going to be having. She doesn’t have all the answers, which she starts to learn. Then you start to learn who really may have the answers and how this conspiracy really goes.” IT’S THE DOG! (Not. But hmm…)
You're right. It would be a great cliffhanger or even just a shock to most people. Did they ever go into how they know each other or met? Because I can't remember if they've mentioned it.
I do remember (now that I've gone back and watched it, lol), but Nolan is just somebody that is always in the wrong places. He probably wasn't invited. I'm going to assume that something happens at the beginning of the next episode that Emily tells Nolan he shouldn't come.
My second guess was Amanda, but is she really that upset about it that she would hurt Daniel? I just can't see that, but it would be interesting if that's how they are going to play it off. Makes sense that Jack would take the fall for her though.
If that is in fact the case, which hopefully it won't be, I'll be laughing as well. He was shot 3 times...he's got to at least be injured.
As something I just noticed. Charlotte actually picks up the gun on the beach when her and Declan are discovering Daniel. Now her fingerprints are all over it...
Probably has nothing to do with anything and they won't go into it, but just saying what I saw.

Sorry, that's not what I meant. I meant that when everyone is crowding around the body, he just strolls up as if he was on a long walk. Not that he literally pops off the ground, haha.

Haha I get it now. Did they ever really show that it was Daniel that got shot? I guess I wouldn't be shocked no matter what they do at this point.
Holy **** it was! Knew it was gonna be Tyler. Daniel is too loved. That was most intense last 20 mins I've seen in while. Who killed Tyler? Is fake Amanda going to die now? Craziness!!!

I'm kind of mad that they didn't wrap up the Amanda getting shot thing. Can't be anything too serious. But they're definitely making it seem like Daniel killed Tyler. We see he gets arrested in the promo, but who knows if it'll actually stick.
EDIT: What I really want to know is how the Japanese guy knew Nolan, and what they had going on? The Japanese guy was definitely the guy who picked up Amanda, so it seemed like that was the plan between he and Nolan! No idea what's going on...so many ****.
Great episode I must say. Definitely called the Tyler thing. They were so keen on not showing the person's face laying in the sand. It was kind of obvious.
Here's an interview with the show's creator Mike Kelley, and he says that we will find out very soon if Charlotte and Emily are half-sisters and that the relationship between Nolan and Emily is "deeper than one of them is aware of". It's a pretty cool article if you're interested in any (minor) spoilers.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the relationship Nolan apparently has with Takeda. I was really surprised when I saw Nolan nod to him and Takeda take off to pick up Amanda.

I've gotta admit, I thought it was Daniel until they flipped him over. Victoria should have known right away...isn't Tyler a lot shorter than Daniel?

I thought they had a height difference. I also thought that it was for sure Tyler the first time they showed him in this episode because his hair was darker than it had been (at least I thought it was). It was still somewhat shocking though. Nolan and Takeda is a strange combination. It's interesting and brings out questions.

Well I was wondering if Takeda was the one who took Tyler out and gave Daniel something so that he doesn't remember any of the events of the evening... Because Takeda told Emily that he was here to put everything back on track and not to worry...
Takeda and Nolan's relationship has to come from Emily's father... They prob knew each other for a long time....
Here's my thing: we clearly saw that whoever fired the last two shots had a glove on. Daniel wouldn't have had a glove on, so I doubt he was the killer...even though he's going to be arrested for it.
After hearing good reviews and seeing all my friends watch it. I decided to give it to a watch and now I'm on Episode 5. It's not the best tv I've ever seen but it's definitely good enough for me to watch it. And I'm surprised I haven't heard of any of the actors before? They're really good for a broadcast network.
So I finally caught up to the big episode and it was GOOD. I kind am glad Daniel wasn't the one who died even though I bet he was the original one. Too many people like Daniel, I would be mad if he died too. I think there's a lot more ways for this storyline to be twisted around to last another 3-4 seasons. Also I think Amanda was kidnapped as insurance only and won't die more than likely. I think Ashley could be well on her way to being a villain though.
One thing I am curious maybe I missed it but how did they draw the conclusion that David Clarke did the planes? He obviously didn't operate the airplane if he was still alive. Just wondering how you would frame someone for that?

They said he was the one funding the terrorist organization.

Wait. I am so confused. Does Daniel actually like/trust Emily or not? His feelings change almost every week and I am getting whiplash from his inconsistencies.
Oh, and that one episode where Victoria hooks up with her old flame...that came out of left field for me. One second she is arranging a beating for her son and the next she randomly sees an old flame that she hasn't seen in about 20+ years.

I think Daniel is supposed to be confused himself. At points he really loves her, but can he really trust her? That's one of the important story lines.
It really did come out of left field, but I was kind of expecting it sooner rather than later. She obviously doesn't love Conrad whatsoever.
On to last night's episode. I really enjoyed it, but it didn't really give us much that we didn't already know. It was great to see some characters back that we haven't seen in a while and some that are dead as well. It tightened some loose ends as well, which was good. Can't wait for the final 2 episodes.
This honestly just gets better and better with each episode!
Brilliant writing!
True I just wish it was on Nbc of Fox to really push the buttons.

If it was on NBC, it wouldn't make it past the midseason break.
