Oh gosh, I didn't think the ratings would be that bad! The promos looked somewhat interesting. If hipsters didn't annoy me so much I probably would've given it a try.
I didn't watch full the show (2 hours? Really?) But I'm not surprised that it didn't do well. It's on MTV aka not it's demographic. We don't watch MTV unless it's the VMA's. While, Buckwild on MTV makes perfect sense and the ratings reflected that.
And Snooki & JWwow are tanking, I don't see another season for that and I think WH will be pulled after a few episodes in.
I was surprised by the ratings for Snooki & JWwow. Demo-wise RW Vegas actually did better and these girls are probably getting paid 100x more than the RW cast so I'm sure MTV is upset about that.
I think WH will be pulled as well. Probably the same thing that happened to Underemployed - they'll move it to a Saturday or Sunday night for the people who still watch the show but it'll be taken out of the M-T lineup.
And like someone else said, hopefully this shows MTV to stop throwing RW on the back burner. It still is pretty consistent in the ratings and with the right season can easily get back to the ratings it was getting during Vegas.
Well this will be pulled soon unless a dramatic change occurs. Since it was going against, The People Choice Awards, I will give it one more week. If it still does horribly than the show needs to be axed. Sad because it did show young Latinos in a positive light. Oh well, something didn't click, and a lot of my friends thought it was boring.
I had 2 issues with the show:
1)TOO MANY COMMERCIALS
2)2 Hour premier

It's not just a flop, it's a nose dive into the dirt from 40,000 feet. Hard-won reputations in show development are quickly lost with failures such as this.

Except this was honestly a cool *** series. than sitting there watching 9000 challenges with the same people on it...
It's because the commercials looked stupid and confusing. That one line of "I wanna jump his bones. I wanna give him a religion" completely turned me off from ever wanting to watch this just because of how weird and stupid it sounded.
smh, that was just one character? I mean really? Its not as bad as Ashley's line from B2SD

Frankie said it. And that's true about the challenges, but most people who watch it have been watching for a couple of years now. I don't know of anyone who has just started watching it this season; that show has gained a loyal fan base.
While the kids from WH seem like people I would've kicked it with in high school..they're boring for television.
I live and work in NYC now. And I know couple of people from the Washington heights area who work with me. They felt the show was scripted and not portraying the "real" Washington heights. And also lots of Dominican people I know in the city called the cast "fake" Dominicans. But scripted or not I find it surprising it didn't have a higher rating.
One of the main reason could be there is no wild or trashy people like the Jersey shore cast!

Perhaps it was, then, a beautiful tree that fell in the forest with a sound no one heard...
I only thought the premiere was an hour and that was still too long for me to watch the group they presented in the previews. Not that there is anything wrong with them, at all, I just wasn't interested. Do you think they'd ever do another season with a repeat real world cast? I would say an "all star" real world cast might be cool, but I think I'd be more interested in seeing the same people again. If the same people still befriend the same people, if anyone has matured or lost it since their season. If the same people hate the same people. If any of them let the short fame get to their head. If any of them are in new relationships have those people visit. I think that would be really interesting, I'm just not sure what cast I'd like to see most. Probably Vegas or New Orleans.

You should go post that on the RW generic page

Boring television? Is this real life? Seriously its episode 1. But yet nobody is complaining about the cast of Buckwild as ignorant as they are and the fight with the black lady was so predictable and staged it's not even funny.

Fixed. For what it's worth Snooki is Chilean nowhere near Italian but she's still my fav.

Yes, it was boring. Personally, I liked it. But it was hella boring.
What's the cinematography term for why this series and the Hills looks a lot more "refined" than say Real World or Buckwild or Jersey Shore.
This has to do with more than single-camera/multi-camera because there was still some multi-camera shots on the episode.

If you look at the Buckwild thread, just about everyone was complaining about the cast being ignorant.

thank you

The main reason why some are calling the cast members 'fake' (besides it being possibly scripted) is because this isn't what they think is a representation of WH. People expected them to be worse and more dramatic while others feared that it would be a negative representation to their community. Turns out that this ended up being more positive than expected.
I live in NYC and have friends around their age who live there and watched and had this same view. While other people in the community applaud the episode, the rest of America's just not into this.

Which I think is pretty shallow but the minute they have half of a RW cast as caucasians then everybody's "into it". It's sad but true. But WH has only been on for not even a full week yet.

I was thinking hi-fi but now I'm not so sure because if I mention that as well to somebody they have no idea what I'm talking about, lol.
I don't know if this is what your talking about, but the main reason The Hills looked more "refined" to me was because all the cameras were fixed. On TRW they just use cameramen with a camera on their shoulder, so all the scenes are shaky.
I saw most of the show the other day.. thought it was boring personally.. its totally understandable why its doing so bad on the ratings atm.. its cause the stories of each person in the show is boring.. its not something that viewers havn't seen before on MTV.. don't be surprised if this gets cancelled.
Ludwid's storyline was the only one that was boring, tbh. Yeah we all knew as soon as he was cast that he passed his test. To me that was no issue of suspense. And I can't believe people in this thread expect everything to be presented upfront in the premiere no doubt.
Even if the first episode was bad or boring, that shouldn't reflect on the rating. It's like when people say "Wow that episode sucked it deserved a bad rating" well that doesn't make much sense unless a huge flock of viewers left the show after starting it.
What does that mean? The show did a bad rating because no one wanted to watch it, not because it sucked.
I agree with all of those who are saying this show is boring. It really is. I couldn't even pay much attention to it because none of them are particularly exciting at all. And considering this show premiered just a week after BuckWild, it's no surprise to me that people will love BuckWild (which whether you think it's 'trashy' or not, is still entertaining nonetheless) and not enjoy WH because everyone has seen a show like this before.
