If this is the last real world then I would bet money that the next challenge will be the last season if ratings don't increase above 1.5m (which they won't).
Let's stay positive that they will! I love the challenges. For me the reason I love them so much is I get to see my old favorite cast members. Without that show we wouldn't get to see the old people anymore.
I never really watch Real World.....I watch it random spurts, I'm religious in watching the Challenge....I really liked this premiere...I'm excited to watch the series. Hope the numbers turn around because this seems like a decent group of people. I love Averey!

I always liked the challenges. I used to watch the real world religiously. I would try to to see if I could guess who would be on the following challenge. But unfortunately I haven't really liked the real world for a while now. My last favorite season was Austin and that was back in 2005. It's just not what it used to be at all. I've been tuning in literally just to keep the ratings up because I don't want them to cancel the challenges =(

If you are not in a Nielson ratings household, watching with the intention of contributing to the show's ratings has absolutely no affect.
Excluding Averey you're right.
Do you know Avery? I don't understand your odd hatered for her before the show even starts. I assumed I wouldn't be an Avery fan but she's been my favorite. Just curious why you already hate her so much.
Ugh..... I got a bad feeling. If this was a year ago I'd be more optimistic but I have rarely seen the ratings go up, especially as significantly as we need them to. Ugh....

well hopefully they still continue with the challenges.

Didn't ratings for Vegas 2011 go up?
I've never seen them start so low though, that's my biggest concern. even if they go up, how much can they increase really?
Just out of curiosity though....as long as people want to advertise during the show wouldn't MTV be dumb to let it go? I know ratings matter, but compared to their new scripted shows The Real World I would think would have to be relatively cheap to produce.
Episode 2
REAL WORLD XXVIII MTV 10:00 PM 959,000 0.6
I was hoping for +1m but that is a nice increase.
We're getting there!
The 959K number represents a good rebound from the prior week, but between 10 & 11 PM "Portland" only beat "Supernatural" and "SN: Action Week" in the top cable shows in the timeslot. "Portland" was only 9th in its timeslot when compared to the other cable offerings at the same time. It's a tough night.
With the preview for next episode, I see the ratings going down for next episode.
Probably, sometimes I wish TRW would put all its cards on the table when it comes to the previews (because there is a lot more happening next episode) but then I do love the surprises.

It went up six spots so that's good.

But the commercial for next weeks episode says someone is going home and a replacement is coming and so on. I don't understand why that wasn't the promo for last nights episode - give people something to anticipate for.
I'm happy for the increase though.

Not at all. Have you seen the response on twitter? There are a ton of people who will only watch once Nia arrives. No way in hell that ratings are going down next week.

Did you saw the preview for next episode after last night episode? They didn't show anything about Nia...it was everything about Jordan dancing in the club and Johnny/Averey having sex in a bathroom after the job interview, nothing about a roommate leaving and Nia coming.
I don't watch MTV 24/7 so I don't know what they show on the commercial, but the preview for next episode after last night episode was pretty lame. I know Nia come on next episode , but a lot of people doesn't know that. So hopefully they show that commercial a lot.

The only preview I saw for next episode was all about Nia. I've seen it about 3 times today.

Did you saw the episode last night?
The whole next on the real world for next week after last night episode, they didn't show anything about a roommate leaving and Nia coming. They just show what I wrote , the job interview bathroom incident and Jordan at the club.
You can go to MTV.com, click the 2nd episode and look at the last part of it. You will see I am not liying

You see, sucky move right there. I want to shake BM/MTV some times!

I really hope you're right. I'm counting on you. ;)

Stop saying "Did you saw" when you mean "Did you see".
And I saw that preview, but I've seen many commercials showing "someone's" legs getting into a cab and Jordan saying "That's stupid. You'll never get this chance again" with Nia calling using a fake accent saying "Hi diz is Nia I'm gone be yo new roomayte"
I don't think the 50 Nia worshipers on twitter are much to go on. But I do think ratings will rise when Nia arrives.
Considering I, myself alone have heard multiple people I go to school with and people on other forums claim they're watching when Nia gets there (and this is just from people I know), I have high hopes ratings will rise.
