A reason it may have dropped is maybe because finals are coming up for semester students and mid terms for trimester students. That's the reason why I did not watch last nights episode. Ratings might not change next week either. I'm no expert on how t.v ratings work, just putting my two cents in... and procrastinating studying...
That is really bad. This season is on pace for the worst ratings in Real World history and its not even close if im not mistaken.
There was twitter buzz last week with the whole Nia thing. Those people may have tuned in to see what happens this week. saw that she didn't "deliver" and may feel cheated and not tune in next week. After the first 10 minutes people might have tuned out as well. All I know is one thing, Duck Dynasty is the greatest reality tv show of all time. 10 million people can't be wrong, right? :victorious:

To be honest, the show doesn't really offer much anymore. It used to have meaning but now it's just a bunch of 20-somethings drinking and fighting. The formula is overdone.
I think the problem is they aren't drinking and fighting enough for what people want these days. The show is probably too tame for what it's trying to do. People want to see crazy ****, no wonder why the only time it got some buzz was when one girl was threatening to "Suck the skin off" a house mates privates.

I mean, if this was a season like Vegas 2 where they all had an interesting dynamic together as a cast, them sitting around doing nothing an entire episode would still be interesting to watch but this cast doesn't really gel together or have any chemistry so if they aren't fighting or screaming at each other it's boring which why I'm guessing last night's episode dropped so much.
RW: Portland - 890,000 Duck Dynasty - 9,600,000 Ouch!

Leroy and Mike's conversations in the "Man Cave" are ten times more interesting than anything I've heard out of this entire cast yet. This cast just has too many people that don't bring anything other than looks to the show. It's eerily reminiscent of the SD2 cast in that regard. So I'm not surprised the ratings aren't very good, considering the dynamic of the cast. MTV pretty much brought on a girl built for BGC, and her antics still might not be enough to save this show.
RW: Portland - 890,000 Duck Dynasty - 9,600,000 Ouch!
Well that was the season finale so that was to be expected
RW: Portland - 890,000 Duck Dynasty - 9,600,000 Ouch!
I remember when Jersey Shore got numbers like that, and we all know how that ended up.
Well that was the season finale so that was to be expected
Well. therein lies another problem. Every week there is a different excuse for the numbers. At some point, the excuses begin to sound very lame.

This was just bad episode but they will bounce back. I starting to think no season will out do Las Vegas 2 that season got me hooked to real world till this day I still watch it
Well. therein lies another problem. Every week there is a different excuse for the numbers. I thought the episode was fine. There should be no reason why these ratings would be lower than the snoozefest St. Thomas (I had to quit watching).
I suppose I should actually take 20 minutes and watch Duck Dynasty instead of bashing its overwhelming popularity all the time. With that said, I'm happy the season is over cause I get tired of seeing it take every program to the woodshed every Wednesday. I hope reruns wont be doing the same.
Well, if RW loses to reruns or Duck Dynasty, then I might have to resort to using the word "infamy" in respect to how far RW has fallen with America in general. SMH

How many @RealWorldMTV seasons will run? Jon Murray stated "it will definitely see at least a 29th season." #stillgoingstrong via @Deadline 2:15pm - 26 Apr 13 found this on twitter on bunim/Murray page

For everyone talking about total viewers, that number means pretty much nothing. The number that matters is the A18-49 demo number. At a 0.8, that's pretty awful.

At a 0.8, that's pretty awful.
I don't know how you could come to hold such an opinion. Every show has a target demographic, and no programming on MTV seeks success across the 18-49 demo. That would have MTV abandoning the essential part of its growth audience. MTV's average viewer age is 23.2. This is the audience captured in the 18-34 demographic. The number of MTV viewers over 34 are statistically anomalous, if not insignificant. Most of us will never read about the key measured demographics for MTV and RW which are 12-24 and 12-34, because those numbers are released only to specific subscribers (who pay tons of money for them) and they are generally not releasable by those subscribing to the service. Just about the only time we hear about RW's ratings from MTV is when they issue a media release announcing some particular episode's success in the young demographic. A couple of organizations report ratings as 18-49 and others announce the 18-34 demo. Unfortunately. those are all we really have to work with.
REAL WORLD XXVIII 1024 0.7 Glad Nia helped a bit but honestly this is still pretty awful. Hopefully it'll grow again next week.
REAL WORLD XXVIII MTV 10:00 PM 1024 0.7 Ratings went back up to 1.02
Well I stand corrected. Nia brought the ratings up from abysmally bad to just pretty terrible. What would we do without her and her wacky hijinks?
With even more drama next week, I only see an increase coning. Maybe not a large one, but an increase nonetheless.
When I saw how MTV promoted this season, I thought the show might get ratings close to 2 mill per episode. I'm realizing that's not happening. MTV allowed all this nonsense to take place, and the ratings still suck. The days of Vegas 2 getting 2.5, 2.6, 2.7 per episode seem like yesterday, but in reality they're a distant memory.
All MTV shows are tanking.
Not really. Teen Mom is still doing extremely well. Ridiculousness was doing extremely well too. In terms of ratings, RW is still MTV's lowest rated show.
Not really. Teen Mom is still doing extremely well. Ridiculousness was doing extremely well too. In terms of ratings, RW is still MTV's lowest rated show.
Some shows are still doing well, but they are not doing as well as they were in the past. MTV as a whole is doing worse. The first 2 seasons of Teen Mom 2 had every episode with 3+ million viewers. Season 3 had 2 episodes put up such numbers and Season 4 had 0 episodes put up such numbers. The Real World is doing horrible in the ratings, but you can't expect it to be where it was at when MTV was at their peak with Jersey Shore putting up monster numbers. They should be able to get the 1.5 million viewer mark, but to expect 2 million is unrealistic, since MTV's base audience has deteriorated greatly.
