The Real World: Portland - After Show

In a preview for a future episode, Marlon said he can't trust her. So hopefully that means that he now has joined Bird and Jordan in seening her for what she is and not what she's pretending to be.

Nia tried to play victim but got called out by everybody, hahahahaha. I'm glad Jordan didn't back down and apologise to Nia about what he did. Marlon made a fool out of himself, double standards.........double standards everywhere.

Does anyone have a link for me to the aftershow with Coral hosting it? MTV posted an aftershow but that is only with Nia, Jordan and Jessicia talking about the episode.

Coral was made for this. I haven't seen her on my tv since she quit on the gauntlet 3, which kind of left a sour taste in my mouth(I don't like quitters). However I'm glad shes back. I don't know why MTV didn't have her hosting aftershows and reunions years ago.

And on your second point, you are right. It's sad really. I mean they got it right so far with the Miz, Johnny and Coral. Mark was okay but not really.

The reunion though 2 seasons too early was very needed for us. the series was at an all time low and I feel the reunion somewhat helped the show though not necessarily excessively.

While I hated San Diego 2, loved St. Thomas (there is no "Saint Thomas though some of it was boring because they didn't do too, too much), the Portland season is even much over yet so to sit there and straight up say that so-so was better combined is a little premature. Portland so far is very good and leagues above let's say New Orleans 2, Cancun or Hollywood.

The casting team needs to revamped for season 29 because a lot of people on these seasons have made it to the finals more than once. Like imagine if Frank and Marie were on the cast instead of Marlon and Ana.. it could have been a totally different dynamic. St Thomas and San Diego had potential with 1 or 2 jems, but the majority of those cast were duds.

Of course the fatal flaw with the arguments above is that in relative terms, almost no one watched RW after LV 2. To argue that Portland is better than X is completely subjective and largely irrelevant. Personally, I don't find it necessary to compare this season with any other. Portland stands on its own as a colossal snooze fest. Nia's antics were entertaining but couldn't match the pre-show hype, and the editing is just about as bad as I've ever seen on MTV. Great television is sometimes completely missed by many viewers, but I'd suggest that is more likely to happen with PBS than with MTV.

You honestly consider Portland a "snooze fest"? I think it's everything but that. Even if some parts of the episodes lag, I consider it to be entertaining..far better than the last 2.

I''m still waiting for the one compelling story line to emerge. Anyone who would argue that Nia is compelling should probably be on meds. Given the ratings, my opinion seems to be more widely shared than yours.

Did not like Frank, San Diego 2 was the first Real World season I struggled to finish. I did not like Marie either and St. Thomas I struggled to get through as well albeit less than San Diego 2.

I see it as worse than NO2, Cancun and maybe above Hollywood. Also have San Diego 2 and St. Thomas ranked lower than all minus maybe Hollywood. Just my opinion though.

People tune out because it's becoming The Nia Show and it's annoying , which is very different from boring. I do do agree that some parts are a drag, but the season as a whole is far from boring. They're boring,or better yet, passive aggressive. They rather pretend nothing is happening rather than address it. In the golden days of Real World, people like Ana wouldn't have been cast. yes, she's had one altercation but other than that...whats so special? Yes, I hated Frank but I dont expect to like everyone in the house each season. Like I said before, keep Nia and Jordan but replace the other 5 with people more dynamic who are going to say what they mean and have better backstorys than "I had sex with a guy" and "I'm a hooters girl with daddy issues" and you've got Reality TV gold.

Coral said Nia knew because she said so on set. hahahahaha. I hope Coral hosts the reunion too. I saw this clip of Avery swinging on Nia after Nia sucker punched her from behind. I think Nia is all talk. She reminds me of Eddie from Leave it to Beaver the sneaky type who will play all innocent and proper in front of certain people when she's really a snake.

Thank you so much for the videos, UrbanTactics! And thank you for posting the link Bacchus! I'm not too happy with the editing, you can tell they cut out a lot of the explanations. But from what they're showing, Marlon is pretty simple. Nia contradicts herself a lot... She says she purposefully spilled liquor over his face, and then she says it wasn't on purpose, she just missed his mouth. But she's right when she says he should've told her that he didn't want her there... now he's saying that it wasn't playful when they were on his bed and that she kept coming back, but his actions and words don't show that.
