I would be down with 2 seasons of the challenge a year if the seasons were actually good. If it's anything like The Bloodlines/Rivals 3 stretch then **** no...I'd rather them stick to the one challenge a year thing.
Cutthroat was my favorite format of all time. 3 teams, the voting, the gulags were just freaking awesome. It sucks they have strayed away from team games. Having one every now and again mixes it up and makes it interesting.
So I had an idea for a new challenge it would be like a fresh meat/gauntlet hybrid (mostly fresh meat though) You would have 14 veterans and 14 rookies (gauntlet rule - done 2 challenges maximum for rookies) and you would have every body do what the fresh meat kids had to do before arriving (the wall, puzzles, running, etc) but you have them do it alone. When the challengers arrive for the announcement of the theme they would see TJ in front of two sets of posterboards with numbers and times. Then TJ announces that he is splitting the group rookies vs. veterans but of course there's a twist. He then would say that he is going to draw a group out of a hat (rookies or veterans) and then that group will be picking one at a time, a person from the opposite *** based on numbers solely (ie: veteran guy would pick rookie girl 7) Once they make their pick, then it would be revealed who belongs to which number. A slight variation would be to have it still be fresh meat style and have it automatically be the veterans that pick their rookie, but their times would determine the order. So it would still be a pairs competition but I think a rookie/veteran pairs challenge could be interesting.

I don't remember the exact FM voting format, but maybe allowing the pair to vote seperately? Like lets say the Male of the pair votes one way and the Female of the pair votes another. I might not be common, but i think this can add to some tension.
After this shitty season that was Rivals 3 is apparent that some things need to change.
-Smart and strong competitors who'll play their own game and not cowtow to anyone is the #1 thing that is needed for this show. ************* need to play their own game, make their own ******* alliances and not settle for 2nd/3rd/4th. And I don't mean just one person...it needs to be a group of people ready to turn this game on it's head and make the competition worth caring about. These people on this show willing to hop on Backpack's **** and would rather run with him than take him out completly is not cute and is not going to cut it in the long run.
-Getting rid of Backpack. It's time that he leaves this show and they stop catering to him and really let this new generation shine. He can't do these shows forever and he's the biggest thing holding this show back from what it could be. Like I hate seeing/reading "this person needs to be cast because they'll go against Backpack!" It's like this show has become about him and I'm just so tired of that. I want to watch The Challenge: Not the Johnny Backpack hour. I want to watch a different as possible group of RW/Bloodlines/AYTO that are worth a **** every season..Not Backpack, his cousin, Wes, and everyon else kissing their *****.
-No more ******* AYTO. Rivals 3 is proof positive that aside from Devin and Maybe Cheyenne that they are bad for this show. Hardly any of them really do this show any good, none of them are good characters and while most of them are solid competitors they pose no real threat and make the dumbest decisions.
-The voting format. This last place goes it/winner chooses the other team shit has got to stop, It's old, tired, and boring. It puts the power in too few hands and everyone else in the game is bascially powerless especially if you can't win. The Fresh Meat voting format needs to be adapted from here on out. In that format everyone gets a chance to play the game and turn shit around. Couple that with smart, strong players and let me tell you: It'll go a long way into making this show good again.
-More interesting finals. Bloodlines final was cool. Do shit like that more.
These are the things that I think needs to change and things that I HOPE change. All of what I wrote will do wonders for this show in the long run.
They should at least bring back the anon voting next season so people will actually grow a set, and vote in strong players at any point in the game. Saying one thing to someone's face, and the voting results being completely different is awesome.
The thing about team challenges is these people don't make nearly as much money as they would on a pair of partner challenges. Back in the day the team challenge winners only got like $30-40,000.
I just wrote this in the finals thread but I think next season should skip the eating component of the final. The puke scenes, especially now that they slow-mo them, have gotten to be too much. We've had to watch someone barf up close in the final every season from the Ruins until now except for Fresh Meat 2 and Free Agents.

I agree 100% This isn't ******* Fear Factor. One of the reasons I loved the Free Agents final is because there was no eating portion.

I hope they stack next seasons cast. Good competitors should not be blamed for a season being boring. The lackluster competitors should imo.
I think the days of stacked casts are over given the direction they're going with this show.

Not sure about an entire cast, but the Duel was stacked with good male competitors.
