Maybe not for Johnny specifically, but I do believe they saved him for when two good competitors went in. What would be the point of him going in against scrubs? I think they saw it was Johnny, knew their history, knew that Tyler is a good competitor too and they'd get something good out of that, and specifically sent him for that episode. Why else would he come on the second to last elimination? That's so random and makes no sense. I think once Kenny and Evan went, and Wes became less invested in the shows, and they saw that a lot of the newer kids weren't as well received by the larger audience, they put more eggs in the CT and Johnny baskets and started treating them like the stars. He also did get screwed by production on Bloodlines. The episode he went home on should have been a girls episode since the last one was guys. Why did it randomly change to ANY team can go in? Probably because Cara came in last and they could play up the enemies thing regardless of who won. Not that he doesn't deserve to get a little heat from production sometimes, but objectively, that switch was some arbitrary bullshit.

To the Bolded: That was a stupid thing to do and it was mainly their own **** fault the new kids didn't get over. And again. It was dumb to make those two the stars. Because look what has happened since then: Diem's passing has made CT's future on the shows uncertain. He may never return again. In addition to that Backpack can't do these shows forever. They need to start building new stars and start making the cast different from season to season. Because doing the show that ways is going to give this carry this show into the future. Relying on certain people to carry this show on their backs is stupid and it defeats the purpose of this show completl imo.

I agree that it was stupid 100%. I also agree that it was their fault that people didn't like Frank, Zach, etc. I've said it a hundred times...a lot of the "fan favorites" didn't start out getting bad edits. Kenny, Evan, Johnny, CT, Paula, etc. were given fairly favorable edits at the beginning because the goal, as it should be, was to get us to like them. If Island Johnny had been the first Johnny we'd ever seen he'd have ZERO fanbase. Or Ruins Kenny and Evan. Or Rivals Paula. (I know you don't like these people regardless, but I'm speaking broadly). Frank, Zach, Knight, Jemmye, and others were given ****** edits their first go. So, instead of getting people on their side and on board with new generation, people wanted their favorites to come back and kick the shit out of them. It's their own fault. They should have gradually introduced the new people, and gradually phased the old ones out. Having Frank come in and giving him the Johnny Bananas edit, when Johnny had YEARS to get fans to like him despite his ******yness, was dumb as ****.

For all we know, this could've been done on purpose as to have a reason to bring their golden boy back every season.

To be fair, the whole Bloodlines format was a disaster. And I think they changed it when switching back into pairs cause it wouldn't be fair to have male/male teams be safe and female/female teams be safe on the opposite gender day when there's male/female teams that can go into elimination any day.

But they did alternate days at the beginning when it was pairs. Jenna/Brianna came in last on the bug day but were safe from going in because it was a male day. Cohutta and Jill had to go in. They weren't male/male. Plus on the Johnny elmination it was the only one where both partners played. Why? Probably to give Cara a chance to stay in the game, picking a neutral game, as Johnny would have destroyed Jamie in pretty much anything.

I do agree that that was a completely half assed format.

Anyone know where I can watch the Inferno 2???? Dying to rewatch.

To be fair though..They gave Wes a shitty edit his first challenge and look at him now.

But I agree 100%. They should've slowly but surely introduced the new kids and give them legit focus so that when Seasons 2 came around it would be better recieved and this show could've moved forward with the newer RW people at the helm.

True. But that would be stupid though because it's not like they needed to cast him every season. They could've had him be the male Aneesa if they wanted to keep him on the show so bad. There was no need to make the show about him.

And Tyler's chubby *** laid there and CT couldn't move him. 3. Nany's unclutch self got caught on a branch. By no means am I saying Bananas would have beaten Leroy, but he never had the chance to try. The other 3 loses Gauntlet 3, Bloodlines and the 2nd loss in Exes2 were 100% on him. John is good at this game if you want any chance of winning a season you need to get him out earlier on. If he makes it to the final he's not losing. He's lost 2 finals, one was a big team final and the other was CT's only win (CT was not gonna lose that final idc if it was CT&Wes vs. Darrell&Landon) Bananas has earned his respect on the show and no new male competitors want to test him. I would love to see Frank and Zach team up against him for a season.

He totally deserved his Backpack loss (he would've lost to Tyler anyway if CT wasn't there) as well as his Exes II losses (emphasis on the fact he lost twice).  And it's well known that Adam made a deal with Johnny and threw the Tyler/Bananas vs. CT/Adam elimination. He would've lost there too, but even if not, he should've lost that final as well, because Wes/Kenny's lead was diminished to 5 minutes on day 2 of the final, when they were well ahead of Bananas/Tyler on day 1. The only ones you can say he deserves are Inferno III, Exes, and Free Agents. Rivals was a BS win for all those^ reasons, Island and Ruins were completely lop-sided competition-wise, and Rivals 3 was handed to him on a silver platter. He's obviously elite, especially in finals and missions, but his elimination record is pretty weak when you don't count the Adam/CT rigged one. His only impressive elimination win was against Mark/Robin, he losses quite a bit, which is why it's so annoying that people hesitate to throw him in.Honestly, I'm just wondering what changed between Cutthroat and now that production went from hating him and bringing in CT to take him out, to them handing him easy wins and making up BS rules just to appease the guy.

Because Battle of the Seasons 2 didn't do well in ratings...

Yup and look at BOTS2 ratings compared to bloodlines and rivals 3 ****. rivals 3 only got over **** viewsers ONCE while every episode in BOTS 2 was over ****.

You are only comparing rating numbers without looking at the big picture of how the network was/is doing as a whole.

Back when Battle of the seasons 2 aired , MTV had shows that were pulling 2-3 millions. For a show to pull the ratings seasons 2 was putting at the time was bad, it was one of their lowest rated show when it air.

At the time Bloodlines/Rivals 3 aired MTV hardly is getting a million as a network. So a show pulling 700k-**** is okay , hence why it got renewal and MTV was happy with Rivals 3 because it was one of their top shows at the time it air.

I agree they should be consistant, but I think they had it wrong at the beginning and right at the end. I don't think it was to screw Bananas over, I think they realized they had it wrong at the start. Teams like Cohutta/Jill, CM/Jamie, KA/Anthony would have been eligible for every elimination, while the male/male and female/female teams would only be eligible for half if that format continued.

The pairs/teams but bloodlines still go home/back to pairs was the sloppiest format we've had since the Island, maybe ever.

Fair enough. But I wonder what you think they would have done had Cory and Mitch been exceptionally stupid and thrown in Aneesa/Rihanna against Jamie and Cara? Do you think they would have kept that game that did have a strength component when only one team had a decent sized guy? Do you think it would have still been a 2 v 2? On the next elimination it was the same situation: A m/f team went against a same gendered team, but they made it back to 1 v 1 and required Cara to go in. Again, I don't think it was necessarily to target Johnny speficially (that change would have hurt Cory and Mitch too), and a lot of it speaks to how poorly designed the format was, but as much as anyone hates Johnny it's tough to say that he didn't get the short end of the stick in that situation (which of course probably makes up for other situations where production benefited him).

Bloodlines was just a shitty format all around. They really should've just had all the alumnit bring a family member of the same ***. All the male alumni bring a male bloodline and have all the female alumni bring the female bloodlines. Would've made it much easier and made more sense.

I don't think the elimination was a short end of the stick or disadvantage for Bananas. Of course he probably would have beat Jamie in something physcial, but he's known to be good at puzzles, while CM is average/good. He just wasn't given an advantage for once. Aneesa can't complain either because physical eliminations are her bread and butter.

It seems like that was the plan, with the same # of male and female alumni, and then only 4 teams were male/female and just decided to let that slide? They probably just had trouble getting casting right. It was a difficult Challenge to plan, but they did an absolute **** poor job with it.

I think it actually would have been cool to see them in large teams, but split up by their team genders. For example, 2 male/male, 2 female/female, 2 male/female Bloodlines per team or something to that effect, and individual eliminations?

They never should've done that challenge in the first place honestly. I personally never saw he point of it.

bloodlines they were trying to cater to the older fans with a half *** team challenge and the voting and the switching of partner to team back to partner was just sloppy and stupid as ****. i didnt have anything against the actual theme, but the way they formatted it was god awful. either fully commit to the teams, or fully commit to the pairs.

Bloodlines should've never been done period....like for why? Then to have AYTO people with a bigger presence on the very next Challenge....makes no sense.

The stupid part about it IMO is that Jon Murray / the producers claim that Bloodlines was basically Fresh Meat 3....but you can already tell they won't be casting the majority of them again so what was the point? They should've just done an actual Fresh Meat 3.

lol i wonder if AYTO production company is paying murray under the table big money to keep recasting ayto

They really need to just utlize the people they already have instead of bringing in people from a different show/random people. Like they could've did something else instead of bloodlines and had several skeletons castmembers on there instead of just Tony, then Rivals 3 should've been something else so they could get people from past seasons that haven't been used/want to come back. I don't get why they just refuse to do that.

Random hope for the future, but it would be cool for a Challenge to be filmed during a snow season, where the whole season's  daily missions had them competing in colder weather/snow. I wish they would simplify themes like that. Like why not just have a big 2 team Challenge where teams are picked dodgeball style and the theme could be The Challenge: Whiteout or Blizzard or something cheesy like that.

Tbh I wouldn't mind seeing an Ex-ile like twist on a Free Agents or Duel. Make the cast think there is only going to be a final 2 then have the winners come in as the 3rd guy/girl. They would need to make those 1 on 1 exiles lit tho not the trash they were on Exes 2

I agree,  but I'd want them to return at final 5 so they can still play a little of the game before finals.

After catching up with all of the Season 29 spoilers, I'm glad BMP and MTV have stepped up their game.
