Journee did kinda get screwed but she was not relatable. She had little personality and her story of being married at 18 to a girl in the military was dumb. The producers didn’t put any black people through with star quality, the show only likes black church singers and that doesn’t win the show.

Catie was okay with her original songs, nothing that hasn’t been done before but she could sing. She left at the right time imo. Cade I could maybe see in a band making stoner music but no real star power or peak there.

Catie had strong enough vocals but was a hot mess. She still outperformed Michael J so she should have stayed around another week. Not loving any of them this season but the mixing is off to me. The music is crowding out the vocals too often.

I do agree the music and the crowd over powers the contestants singing. I watched when Cade was singing and I could not hear him at all.
The sob stories do suck but it’s a tv competition show and being relatable or rootable is the name of the game. By a certain point of the competition everyone can sing well so something has to give you the edge i know not all of us have rooted for the text book BEST singer on every show, meaning something irrelevant to their talent stood out to you. Maybe their looks or personality. To me that’s no different than the sob story card
That's why I can't stand watching these singing competition shows. They prioritize good TV over actual singers and finding breakout stars. Work in the industry so it irks my life knowing how fake those shows are.

Idk about her live but her songs are pretty great. She had to be a good enough singer to get the role of Selena back in the 90s
she’s passable, in her defense she’s mostly known for Dance/Performing so I understand her role as a judge, but a stable vocalist she is not
