Skeletons >>>> Portland >>> Ex-plosions.The contrived drama that Nia brought with Jordan and the manager lady was not enough to save the season.

Really? I loved Portland.  But I'll be honest I didn't watch any of the gimic seasons out of protest lol I liked all the Portland kids and felt like the Nia stuff was forced for the most part, even though I liked Nia.

What Paula do on key west ? I hated real world back then

Paula story on key west was one of the best ones imo. She started that season literally in bones dealing with an eating disorder and an abusive boyfriend. Going off about Bananas while she was drunk then at some point looking for help and going to therapy. Her story was very Real in my opinion.

You should watch Skeletons ! Imo that cast didnt need a twist must the drama was between them & for the exception of Nicole they had inner struggles/"skeletons" that they were dealing with on the show.

Paula’s last words on Key West. Breathtaking really.

Portland wasn't that great of a season until Nia came on and I'm a huge fan of that season.

I'm with HonestTea. Paula's exit on Key West was iconic.

Key west was my favorite season.. Svetlana is an icon and i didnt like how he treated her but Tyler was HILARIOUS that season

I also quit when they went down the scripted shock value storytelling path. It felt anything but real.

I'm really hoping this reboot is closer to the original I grew up loving.  I'd like to get excited about The Real World again.

Paula had anorexia and went to therapy for it while on the show.  Anyone can hate her on the challenge but she brought a REAL *** storyline

Paula dealt with anorexia throughout. Her story was so real. Real World really helped her grow, I remember her saying her roommates literally saved her. Her notes to everyone on the last episode was my favorite part. I would definitely recommend watching KW because of her story.

Vegas 2 is the best Real World season of all time.

Vegas 2 was definitely up in the top. I seriously loved everybody on that cast. Definitely BEST of the new generation. It is hard for me to determine the best since there were so many good ones back in the day.

Portland cast was good for challenges but not RW. they didn't mesh together.

Agreed Skeletons didn't need a twitst. It was definitely the best original cast since Vegas 2.

Knight & Jemmye made NOLA 2. Jemmye had a great story on RW too. Very real.

Didn’t they used to film RW seasons for like 5 months instead of 2? I think that made a huge difference when people live together that long more natural drama will happen and we see more growth. It also gives them more footage which gives more interesting story lines. Watching people party together for 2 months isn’t going to cut it, i hope with the reboot they film for a bit longer

Yes. They filmed for 4-6 months for a long time until they changed it or whatever.

I could’ve sworn CT stated his RW season was like... 8 whole months. Whew. That’s a lot.

100% agree. It made people's relationships grow and made them have a stronger bond. I feel like we don't see that anymore. Trashelle said they filmed vegas for 7 I think.

NOLA2 was the first season I watched while it was airing so I’ll always have a soft spot for it but Jemmye talking about her abuse was eye opening. She was so raw and the realest she’s ever been. Also Knights history with prescriptions while it wasn’t the biggest storyline, it stands out even more now knowing how he passes

I loved Jemmye on NOLA. it is a shame she is the way she is now because she was real on NOLA

What fell short for Portland was that it felt like it depended on Nia to pick up steam. There was literally an episode or two building up to Nia's arrival, lol.Skeletons, like Pink said, was a cast that was deserving of being a regular formated season. The gimicks didn't help or hurt some of the cast tho. I think it elevated Tony's (/madison) storyline and Jason's storyline tho.

Portland and Go big were really bad seasons up there with San Diego 2/St.Thomas

Lol Nia alone makes this a terrible comparison.

And wait, did you only say this because you know Graphik and witty like Nia and CeeJai? Hmmm

We can’t act like Nia didn’t save Portland though

She didnt! thanks to that trash season they decide to do twists seasons

Uh no, thanks to her RW WASNT CANCELED. That's FACT. It was about to end.

Paula’s last words on Key West. Breathtaking really.

Nia drama on real world was all fake, didnt enjoy it at all. Like her on the challenge but she did to much for the cameras on the real world to the point it was uncomfortable to watch for me.

As far as Ceejai she had a real story but that season like bad blood were terrible as far as casting goes.

I'll never understand the Ceejai hype

Key west was my first season, it's honestly one of the best seasons to start on. It got me hooked.

I agree. Portland was the tipping point of BMP/MTV switching to the new more Jersey Shore like format and that was entirely because of Nia. She was definitely a ringer brought in to stir things up and they thought they had something good to build on. It definitely provided for water cooler talk, whatever side you fell on.

I think there will always be a divide in the fandom between the old real world and the new real world depending on what type of show was on when you first started watching.

Unfortunately, The Real World is currently remembered as a punchline of gimmicky seasons and scripted drama (in my honest opinion). Crazy as it may sound, The Real World was once award-winning, groundbreaking and generationally important television that literally helped change the world.

While I don't expect that much from the reboot, I'm cautiously optimistic that they will at least try to bring a little of the magic back from the beginning.

RW 10 Back to New York was my first season and it was honestly everything. Mike and coral were both very entertaining on this season, they are the whole reason I even got into the challenge with BOTS. They need real people with real issues again, the problem is everything is so PC and people know how much it can ruin their lives so you just get a bunch of people partying and trying to be social media famous because real people aren’t willing to ruin their futures over one season of a TV show

I'll never understand the Ceejai hype

CeeJai had a compelling story. People forget that her father murdered her mother and then killed himself. CeeJai deserved a better season without a mediocre twist and better roommates.
