I cringed when I read that too. I hope he was trying to make the point that maybe they just aren't aware of it there as much. It's not something I remember learning in school growing up so I definitely don't think they teach it in the UK.

From a non-american point of view, nobody gives a **** about blackface. I'm not saying it's good, I'm just saying people don't care. Race related issues are viewed so diferent outside of the US, 95% of the world has no idea of what blackface was used in the US (as most of the people in the world don't know) and why is a big deal there. An Georgia was probably one of them.
Honestly until I see MTV "severe ties" with someone who carries some weight to their name (Johnny, Jordan, CT, or Zach) i'm not going to congratulate them for doing bare minimum behavior.
