Erika, Nick, Tommy just don't have that epicness that most Survivor winners have. Seeing all the winners on HvV and most of the Winners at War felt like legends. Even though Ben sucked at least he was relevant and memorable. A bad winner can still be a powerful figure. I still forget Nick won that ending was so off to me. This show needs to pull the plug.

Nick had an amazing pre-merge, and basically invented the minority split vote, had some real flashy moves, i had him playing a better game than Adam in his win

Something about him is extremely forgettable to me the only thing I remember is the Mason-Dixon alliance. I remember watching that season not knowing his name until probably the last two episodes and I didn't even consider him to have a chance at winning once I learned his name. That's just me though

His late game was bad, from the moment Gabby turned on The David's on the Carl's vote his game went pretty downhill, and in the end his win was 50% his and 50% Mike White dropping the towel at FTC, but still a good winner due to the first half of his game

i havent really enjoyed a winner since wendell and michele. I think this season had potential to be good, imo the cast was good. it was all the twist thats killed the season for me,

I didn't really enjoy Wendell's win because i really thought Dom deserved it more as has he played an amazing game that season, but looking back in retrospective he probably should have went all in Chris Underwood style and went to fire against Wendell to guarantee the win

If Shan or Ricard won I'd be satisfied but they didn't :(. Also I don't know if society has changed or reality TV in general or the format of final tribal council but I'm so tired of the loving happy "you did great" sportsmanship shit. The smiles from Eevie pissed me off. I want the jury to be bitter as hell and drag everyone and have the finalists bark back.

I'm happy with this winner. I liked her enough and she easily played a better game than the final 4

if dom had a better relationship with laurel he would've won. he got close tho. its a social experiment  at the end of the day and people forget that alot.

I don't need something nasty like a Corinne speech but I need an emotional Trish moment or Sherri telling Erik she doesn't need his vote and he can sit down. I need some drama and tension. All the being a big fan all their life talk needs to end too. I don't care.

im happy with her as a winner too

Even if he sent Lauren to fire against Wendell he would probably have won,he did the worse decision possible in that situation, has the vote would still be tied 5-5, and with him taking Angela to the final she isn't bitter and probably gives him her vote

I'm so happy for Erika, I wanted Heather but Ricard and Xander losing is gold

All the racists mad Xander didn't win when his game was trash lmaooo. So happy Erika won over two men. She deserved it

The editing team messed up giving Xander so much screen time and making him an underdog early merge, they turned him into a fan favourite which was inevitably going to **** off casuals when an UTR woman won. I feel like they've done a good job avoiding that in the past, Spencer being a good example where they knew they had to turn him from fan fave to unlikable so Jeremy's (very strong) win wouldn't dissapoint casuals

casuals love the xander archetype. You know the young white surfer looking straight male. They woulda been mad no matter what lol

Xander WAS the underdog there's no way to edit around it. He was the dark horse not that purple haired Canadian girl

Shan is a disease I forgot what it's called. Something fibrosis and needed to take 8 rounds of chemo before going on Survivor. Watch her ponderosa she ain't going on the challenge.

Multiple Sclerosis lol

This was the reply of the season for me. I was dead serious too SKSKS

xander was a flop and the cast saw him as he joke hence why they didnt try to get his *** out when he had that idol.

I honestly thought we were gonna get some reveal either in a confessional or at final tribal that Erika was pretending to suck at making fire in front of Xander to give herself a chance to go down and add to her resume, how the hell do you live alone for two days and not know how to use flint? I feel like that kind of sums up Erika's game for me, people talked a lot about how she's this dark horse who's actually some really smart and strategic game player making moves behind the scenes, but she never really did anything. Like did she get votes for people believing the whole under the radar mastermind thing because I don't think it was real. They talked a lot about perception and it seems Erika won because people perceived her as a smart player when there wasn't much proof to that actually being the case

I'm still not sure what Xander's mindset was at F4, he seemed to know Erika was a threat but thought that by telling everyone she wasn't and then keeping her out of fire the jury would somehow just be like 'Oh, yeah Erika must be a goat since Xander said she was' like that's just not how it works. But I hate the fact that there was a non zero chance of that working, again with perception I feel like there is a small possiblity the jury switched up after that if they thought Erika maybe wasn't considered a threat among the remaining players.

I don't even know what a winning game's supposed to look like anymore, since anyone perceived as a leader or threat has to be eliminated by like final 8 or 7 due to firemaking, idols and whatever other late game advantages may help them claw their way to the end, and the endgame has become so meta with all this resume crap instead of the jurors just being like 'Hey I like person A and think they played a solid game, here's my vote'. All three finalists were decent but flawed players, so I'm not super happy or upset with the result, other than the fact that we got out first Canadian winner, first female winner in 7 seasons and third Asian winner. Congrats to Erika on winning and not having to pay tax on it, she might even be able to get herself a two bedroom condo in Toronto with that 1.3 million

There's a lot of factors.

To start, Erika never voted incorrectly. She helped orchestrate the Shan blindside by suggesting the split vote. She got what she wanted in voting Danny out over DeShawn. She got to the final four with a known duo with Heather. She and Ricard were really the ones who helped dismantle the majority alliance (which is likely why Ricard went so hard for her in the FTC). But most of all, she articulated her game very well and had the perfect answer to many of the jury's questions. Something Xander and DeShawn failed spectacularly at.

And if that's not enough, then let's take a look at Xander and DeShawn's game. Xander almost never voted correctly. He was never in a position where he was calling the shots. He wasn't the challenge beast that people expected him to be as Erika won the same amount of post merge challenges as he did. His so-called advantages? They had little to no impact on the game. He might be the first Survivor in history to have so many advantages at his disposal and still do nothing significant with them. His big flashy move in duping Liana? It was revealed that Tiff/Evvie actually came up with the plan. And even if he did come up with that, he was still at the bottom of the alliance and his allies went home back to back without him even trying to save them. By then, no one even considered him a threat anymore because he was so clueless. And if that wasn't enough, he had horrible reads on the game and made one of the biggest blunders ever in taking Erika to the Final 3, despite not only being told by Heather that she would beat him but also after realizing she was crap at making fire. So yeah, his 0 votes were earned. Him being an underdog premerge is irrelevant post merge.

I'll keep DeShawn brief. He played an overall decent game but it was marred by messy moves that made no sense at all for his game. From the premature Shan blindside to the "truth kamikaze", DeShawn's ship had too many glaring holes while sailing down the finish line and that's what sunk him. There's no point in making big flashy moves if those moves make no sense to begin with and actually hurt you.

Having said all that, by the time the FTC rolled around, the jury made the right choice. But because of editing, the casuals are whining that Xander was robbed. Production needs to do better next time.

Immediately I was tuned out pretty much all season cause it was so horrific but how did Xander play a bad game? I usually don't like his archetype but he played a great game as an underdog. He played/didn't play his advantages perfectly and overcame the odds. I don't know what Erika did besides participate in the games worst twist ever. I'm pretending Danny won this trash season and then pretending Jeff didn't kill Survivor with this "new era" trash.

the jury thought Xander was a joke and not a threat there's your answer. While Erika was called smart and sneaky multiple times by multiple people and still strategically masterminded everyone. And before you flops said she got lucky... umm almost every winner got lucky somehow in some way at one point. Anyways hope we get a black woman to win 42 it's been far too long there too

Because he didnt do anything besides that advantage play. Which he didn't play perfectly because his ally was STILL voted out, which people seem to forget.

Xander is the epitome of new school survivor since he failed at the social/strategy but made 1 flashy move and people think he played well

I feel like people especially the ones on reddit, facebook and southern moms are just upset that with this new diversity rule that their white faves have to now play just as hard as the minorities always had to play to get their shine.

People just want the cute white boy with long hair to win. There's still people who think joe should have won.

I wanted Erika to win but people wanted Xander to win because of the edit. Let's be real and stop pretending everything is about race.  I wouldn't have been mad if anyone in the final 5 won even though I couldn't stand Ricard.

the edit.

yes the edit that always picks the either nerdy super fan white boy or surfer/nature white boy to give fan fave screen time to.

Xander got exactly the number of votes he deserved.

I mean it wasn't even close a 7-1-0 vote ain't no fluke. Xander was perceived as a joke and no one tried that hard to flush his idol bc he didn't pose a threat. Even Erika was talked more about being a threat than him.
