Set against the backdrop of the Twelve Colonies at peace and living in a society close to our own, Caprica revolves around the entanglements of the Adamas and the Graystones. 51 years before the events depicted in the re-imagined series, the worlds of prominent civil liberties lawyer Joseph Adama, father of future Battlestar commander William Adama, and Daniel Graystone, a wealthy technologist, collide when their daughters are lost in an act of religious terrorism. Obsessing over his dead child, Daniel sets his considerable wealth and sprawling industrial corporation to the singular task of bringing the girls back to life. After experiments with startling breakthroughs in robotics and AI take a questionable turn, Joseph becomes a vehement opponent of the path Daniel starts down.
[via wikipedia] YouTube - Caprica Official Promo 2009
Looks like Caprica has been picked up for 20 episodes. Not sure if this is going to be my thing (i.e. Star Wars meets Dynasty) but I'll give it a shot.
Apparently the two-hour Caprica prequel film will not be broadcast (on Sci Fi Channel) until the whole series launches in 2010, but eager fans can buy it early as a DVD or digital download beginning April 21 of this year. The series proper, currently scheduled for a 22-episode first season, will launch in 2010.
FRAK! I am not going to buy the DVD of a show I am yet to see. 2010 it is...
Ok, 2010 is here. I never did get Caprica via netflix. Plan to watch the premiere tonight.
Ok....I've watched the first three episodes. I am going to give it one more week. It just feels contrived and more of a soap opera than futuristic drama. I'm not feeling it...
I think it is getting better as it goes on ... James Marsters started his guest starring role this past Friday and from the looks of it will be a major factor in the younger set's lives as a terrorist leader named Barnabus.
