Cutthroat: Real World/ Road Rules Challenge - Speculation (Spoilers)

This is all just ridiculous to me. I can barely remember half the names of the Fresh Meat people from the most recent season of the Challenge that barely ended earlier this month, and now BMP wants to shove even more nobodies down our throat that are even more unknown than the Fresh Meat?! Ugh. What makes it worse is that we have to watch this complete unknown for a good duration of the Challenge before she is booted, rather than getting to see some of the most beloved cast members get more airtime--like Katie, because she didn't make it as far. :/ Well, I suppose we don't have to. It is our choice.
Idk why everyone is judging. It is no longer the RWRR challenge. It is the challenge. Maybe she will bring drama, who knows. She lasted pretty long so she must bring something to the table. I think we should give her a shot before we judge her. I am happy that some new people might win this challenge.

Well pretty much what the deal is is that older viewers are upset that their favorites from the 90s have moved on and are never coming back. So, they are pretty much just going to tear everything that BMP does apart until Eric Nies and Melissa from NO come back. Which will not happen. So just watch the show for the competition. Relax!
Exactly, and that's the majority of the viewers. People like us who have watched lots of seasons and look in depth into everything are very rare. There's obviously people that love them if they keep asking them back. You'd be surprised, at the reunion the people were going crazy for kenny.
They may be the majority of the viewers now but there aren't exactly tuning in in droves. If the low ratings weren't the final nail in the coffin, I'm pretty confident that this move will be.

People are judging this chick before they even see her. They talk all about how they dont even know who she is. Well most of you didnt know who Kenny was before FM but you sure as **** watched that didnt you? Do you personally know anyone from RWB2NO? Probably not, but ur gonna watch that...

Is that really that much to ask for since Real World is still going on and MTV still calls it the RW/RR Challenge? I don't think so.

No, what will give them higher ratings is advertising, advertising, advertising. Yes, us die hards would be happy with more Road Rulers or more people from the "golden years" but it's changed and if there's anything I learned from Toy Story 3 tonight, moving on is a natural process. Bringing in these people will maybe entertain us but it will not double the viewers by any means.

It is ruining the consistency and tradition of getting to know someone on a show first and then watching them compete on a Challenge. We don't care if new people are the majority on a Challenge--that is all fine and dandy. But ONLY if we get to actually know something about them first! I would be all for this chic being on the show had she been on a new season of the Real World or something. But she wasn't. How are we supposed root for her or care about her/the show if we can't even remember how to spell her name.

Or was, to get to see your favorite 'alumni' compete with others. But oh well.

They have to have some kind of make up for Road Rules being cancelled to keep the challenges alive.

During the time that Fresh Meat aired, many people became fans of the Fresh Meat people. From Fresh Meat 1 to Fresh Meat 2, a lot of people became fans of people like Kenny, Evan, Ryan, Diem, Evelyn, Casey, etc. Thus continuing the purpose of the show. But whatever.

Or, I guess not obviously.

The truth of the matter is that there is not one other show in the world remotely like [strike]Thc[/strike] The Challenge on MTV. It is truly one of the most competitive and entertaining television shows in the world. The Elimination rounds, no matter what they are and who is in them, are always extremely intense, and I would sell my soul to compete in a show like The Challenge. I thank everyone who ever had any part in any of these challenges, and respect each and every one of them. They have entertained me since 2003. I could never turn my back on a show like this for one stupid person. Especially Camila since I loved her on her original show. Which brings me to my next point. The FM kids do not have an original show other than the actual challenge. These SBC kids, do, in fact have an original show: The Spring Break Challenge. I just read the post above this. If you were a true lover of the show, you wouldve watch the SBC, even though it was obviously going to be a cheesy way to hold us over until FMII. And before someone goes into cardiac arrest, I'm sure the only SBC kids that will be cast are going to be the Most Memorable Players. Whilst watching the SBC, I even said (when they showed the MMP) that those kids are gonna be on the real challenges soon.

It's one person, this is basically her original show.

The people that I know that watch/watched the show only watched to see their favorites from past seasons of The Real World or Road Rules shows, most people I know stopped watching because they dont like the new people, but the ones I konw that still do watch (as a regular viewer of the show) favor the Kenny/Evan/Johnny/Paula/Susie/Johanna people. Just Saying. Even the newer viewers dont want to see random people on there, unless it has something to do with the show, like Fresh Meat, thats what the other reality shows are for.
The thing is, no one knows who this new chick Camila is. People wouldn't care if she was a wallflower on an actual season, or even on FM, but she was on a show for a week with 50 other spring breakers. Obviously, Klounsnax you're still fairly new when it comes to these shows, but when they put out a challenge, people who have been watching it for years would like to see people (and root for people) that have appeared on a season. Even if they were Fresh Meaters. The whole concept of bringing in someone from a show that was basically shot in 2 weeks to fill in airtime is not compelling. Whether or not she brings drama, it's still a horrible decision. They changed the name from RW/RR challenge, because of the FM kids. But by BMP/MTV standpoint they still consider it the Real World Road Rules Challenge.

Thats my point in all of this, everyone, I'm just fighting for my favorite show. I'm sorry you guys find fault with it. But when it comes to a show like this, I have to fight for it. Even if I go down on Vevmo. I'm just trying to show you guys, that its really not that big a deal. So many of you were so excited to see this cast put together until they added Camila, and now all of a sudden its just the worst cast ever. Its the same cast, just more people added to it.
...a lot of people became fans of people like Kenny, Evan, Ryan, Diem, Evelyn, Casey, etc...
The "a lot of people" didn't translate into ratings. In fact there is good data to show that as some of the people you name made it toward the end of any challenge, the ratings went into near free fall. When you combine the fact that ratings are substantially down and a challenge is a relatively expensive show to produce, MTV may have more cost effective ways to fill their 10 PM time slot. Directed market advertising would help, as some smart people here argued a couple of years ago, but rumor has it that MTV networks had to drastically cut their marketing budget. About two years ago Jon Murray commented for an article in a NY paper that the RW would be around for a long time. I wonder if he still believes that "a long time" also means a relationship with MTV, since fate has been unkind to both MTV and VH1 in the Viacom family. More recently, BMP has entered into more relevant deals with Direct TV, The Weinstein Company, Oxygen and Lifetime.

Even if you did watch the SBC, you don't know anything about her. To support a show, is to embrace the cast, and a lot of people can't embrace someone they don't know. The only reason people watched the SBC was because of the Alumni. If the Alumni weren't on it would anyone give it a second thought? And for the record, I thought this cast was awful. Camila just put the cherry on top! You are entitled to your opinion and like I said I commend you, I just disagree with you.

I for one haven't watched as many seasons as you or others on this site so I dont see this as a big deal. When gauntlet 3 came on i basically knew everyone on the cast expect for Jillian but because she did well on the season, I ended up liking her so i dont think you need to know these cast members to embrace them. I also think Camilla is actually somewhat memorable and as long as their aren't completely random people from that show I'm ok with it. If they had a bunch of people from the spring break challenge I'd be a bit more concerned but one or two memorable people is fine.

Anyway, I watched the Spring Break challenge and do not remember anything or anyone from it, except that there were alot of people. I do not understand the decision to cast her, does this mean the next challenge could feature 10 or more people from the spring break challenge. Ridiculous, but anything seems possible at this point. Furthermore, this discussion I feel should not be in the speculation thread and likely should be in the cast member thread, but maybe I am wrong
I'm obviously going to watch the challenge and probably love/hate some parts of it but I'm just kind of confused. There is no way that BMP was actually that desperate for a female cast member that they needed to call in this girl to take a spot, which leads me to think they actually knowingly and willfully casted her. I just question the decision making process that is going on over there and why they do some of the things they do. I am completely realistic when it comes to my cast predictions and I know that people like The Miz, Veronica, Coral, Shane, Beth will probably never come back, but come on, we have to draw the line somewhere with how random and new-age these cast members can be.
Why is this girl here? Nobody remembers her. Is BMP going to cast Pat from Real World Cancun now? Wow,stupid decision.

It is officially now the RW/RR/FM/SB Challenge.. aha LOL in the first episode of the new season TJ is gonna be like welcome to the 20th season of the Real World/Road Rules/Fresh Meat/Spring Break Challenge.
Its not like they are asking people from a shot at love, jersey shore, or next, Now that would be trash.
Its not like they are asking people from a shot at love, jersey shore, or next, Now that would be trash.
I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
Its not like they are asking people from a shot at love, jersey shore, or next, Now that would be trash.
A Jersey Shore crossover would at least bring in ratings. I like some of the Fresh Meatheads (at least from FM2), but I do not like the idea of inviting people that weren't on a season of RW or RR onto the RW/RR Challenge (and I don't consider SBC a real show). I am willing to give this Camilla chick the benefit of the doubt, but I agree that adding all these random people is the series' death knell. I'll probably find this challenge mildly entertaining, but at the rate BMP is going, I definitely won't mind if the RW/RR Challenge is put out of its misery soon.
