I thought it was lovely to not only see Evan for the majority of the episode, but to also see him during the commercials! I don't hate Evan, but enough is enough. I think he was being sarcastic when he said he said that him and Davis had a "connection".
Nehemiah probably picked Paula because she was crying. Maybe I'm missing something here, but I don't understand why it was fine for Paula to change her vote but then Evan couldn't change his.
Because Paula did not choose someone over Evan - but Evan chose someone over Paula. That is a slap in the face to someone he calls a "friend".
Quick thoughts on this episode:
I'm so glad that Ruthie and Landon won! I am loving Ruthie on this challenge and I have tremendous respect for Landon. Why would Evan make that comment about them not being favored to win? I think his head is swollen up with his alleged "Godfather" role.
Nehemiah really made a bad decision in picking Paula. He set it up so that two of his friends were put in a position to go home. I do credit Davis on choosing Evan. I thought that was a ballsy move on his part trying to take out the mastermind of the big alliance. Did anyone else notice how many people were rooting for him to win? As far as Brooke goes she looks like a fun gal to have at these challenges but lets face it she is like the least physical threat among the girls there.

Wasn't that Brad that made the comment? He said them as a pair was a "wildcard" win. I think he was talking more about Ruthie than Landon.

The idea that Rachel could be afraid of Aneesa is laughable. Look how soon Aneesa fell off the rope. She is not very good at the actual challenges. The only thing she is good at is scraping, but I don't think she could handle a bigger and stronger Rachel.

I see that side of it, but I also think it was Evan making a point that if she goes against him by not following their plan to keep them both in the game, than he will do the same to her. Yes the main alliance is between him, Brad and Mark, but Evan was going to do what he could to keep Paula there on the girls side because they are good friends. Since Paula chose to pick someone she wants to cuddle with over who she was supposed to pick that would work with the set plan, why should Evan continue to do things for her when she wasn't doing anything for him?

You are correct it was Brad that made a comment.

Right, I agree.
Paula picking Dunbar last time had nothing to do with Evan not being safe. And Ryan was not a part of their alliance. All Paula did was not keep the direct order, and it left MJ last. But MJ was not a solid member of the big alliance (he was aspiring to be) and the alliance guys were all on Evan's back for picking MJ first, because he just got on the challenge! That's why I am extra annoyed with Evan - he did the same thing as Paula, but I felt he tried to paint her as extra shady to the alliance guys, to the point they were telling him to cut her loose. I think one reason for that was he wanted to shift their attention from the blame they were putting on him for the first elimination round, and I think another reason is because he didn't want them to think he planned with Paula to change the order (he didn't). But overall they'd both changed things once at that point. Both of them should be looked at as untrustworthy. I really wish the alliance would drop both of them, or at least I wish someone else in the alliance would take charge.
I think Paula started feeling secure because of Evan and Kenny in these challenges beginning with G3. She was a member, albeit a quiet member (just based off of TV footage) of that FM alliance, being one of the girls along for the ride - one of the girls who would let the guys do whatever they wanted because they thought they were liked and protected. So I could see why she thought she'd be OK on The Island as well, and she ended up not being. Now the same thing is happening with Evan, though it's partially her fault. I wonder if she's going to continue to cling to him and try to get back in with him, or if she will figure he's not to be trusted and forget about getting picked by him. She needs to learn.
Wasn't that Brad that made the comment? He said them as a pair was a "wildcard" win. I think he was talking more about Ruthie than Landon.
I thought it was bizarre as well. Both Ruthie and Landon have proven themselves to be strong competitors in the past.
Just watched and read all 28 pages of this thread. My only comment is come on Denver get it together!!!!!!!!!!!
Or BMP create a challenge that one of us can win.

Well I guess I understand that, but that may only be because Paula was never picked before Evan.

Yeah it sucks that both Brooke and Davis went home. Nehemiah screwed that one up big time. :ireful3:
Wasn't that Brad that made the comment? He said them as a pair was a "wildcard" win. I think he was talking more about Ruthie than Landon.
I thought he was saying that it was going to be a surprise who Ruthie and Landon picked first because they have ties to different people.
I really don't understand why Paula was angry that Evan didn't pick her... She went against what they had agreed on the previous ep, so that really should not have surprised her. And everyone keeps whining about friends throwing themselves under the bus, if I had a friend that told me he was going to save someone then he just "randomly" changes his mind I would not care so much for picking em either.

That's what I was saying. She should have expected it.

It's a much different element when survival is on the line. Aneesa's elimination record speaks for itself. In addition Aneesa has a size advantage over Rachel, so Push Over and Back Off would be no problem for Aneesa over Rachel. Rachel would easily win the Pole Dance and the Spot On duels. The elevator duel favors Aneesa because Rachel is much smaller than her and you pull your opponent upward.
In addition to the above statement, Rachel hasn't been in a 1 on 1 face off to where you lose and go home minus the Island. The one time she was in a face off, she lost to Kelly Anne. Jodi was cnsidered a beast, and the 1 time she went in, she lost handily to Veronica. Nerves also is a factor.
Yes, mission wise Rachel is unbeatable imo, but Duels offer a different element to where experience in them have their advantages.
I will say this about Kim. I despised her during her RW season because based on edits; I thought she was pretty ignorant and using words out of text especially with her dealings & absurd assumptions of Brianna. I really believe that some was edit and some was who she was. However, she acknowledged her mistakes & growth at the reunion. Classy.
Now, I have the most respect for her of any cast member of the Duel. She basically has nothing as far as strategy, but she has confidence, the attitude, and is competitive. And thus far, she is the only one who seems unafraid of the duel which can be an advantage.
Evan was on overkill this episode, but I am starting to see him not as the mastermind, but the fall guy for being the mastermind. Brad, Mark, and Rachel have kept a very low profile and it's evident that their alliance is much bigger than the 3 males; it looks like an 7 person alliance to me (Rachel, Mark, Aneesa, Landon, Brittani, Brad, Tori, and Evan). Aneesa is in on the strength of Rachel and imo Rachel's personal interest in Aneesa, her past, and her fear of facing her in the Duel otherwise, Aneesa would not be in it.
I love Kim, and on the RW didn't like her, but once I heard here and from the cast that her edit was very messed up I definitely discarded what we were shown.
He did get a bit too much airtime this episode. On Ev's blog she stated that the other people in the alliance are playing the game much quieter and better than some others. I think Evan is high up there, but is also faulty to the rest of the alliance, like as if they wouldn't need him because together they are stronger.
I have to say I enjoyed Nehemiah talking about the inner ***** that Evan apparently has lol
I agree. I thought it was really funny, because I have never heard it put into those terms before.
I agree. I thought it was really funny, because I have never heard it put into those terms before.
that was quite entertaining to watch. However, Ithink what was failed to be mentioned is why Jenn failed to vote her cast mates. She left her Denver cast high and dry and could have picked up Davis which would have left Paula/Dunbar as the last 2. Nehemiah, through all the rant was honest imo about Jenn's soliciting his vote for Paula ........
Question 1 - how did she know that Evan wasn't going to pick up Paula? Hmmmnn
Question 2 - did she suspect that Davis would not go after Evan and go for an easier target, Issac or perhaps Brad. she had a shocked look when Davis called out Evan
Question 3 - Why is she even concerned with Paula after Paula's fake list?
Question 4 - How close is she to Rachel (which imo is the catalyst & glue) of the whole alliance.
I suspect Jenn to be guilty of being of a double agent.
RW561015,
I believe he was talking more along the lines of Ruthie, not Landon.
Yeah, I know you said that, but like I replied, both Ruthie and Landon had proven themselves as competitors in the past. I can take Landon out of the sentence and the sentence would still stand as the same for me. Ruthie is most definitely a competitor - she had one of the most awesome performances ever in Battle of the Sexes.

This is my opinion.
In regards to Brad saying it was a "wildcard" win is because they aren't in the same alliance together. Therefore, it was going to cause problems with the picking order because nobody knew who would get picked first because they had ties to different people. Kind of like Rachel & Mark winning together last episode, there was no problem because they are with the same people. I don't think Brad meant anything athletic wise. I think we all just over analyze everything.

So glad Kim's doing better than her roommates. Tori seems to be coasting on her alliance and Diem dq'ed for the second time in a row. Fashion tangent: Diem's got some serious wardrobe issues. An off-the-shoulder tank worn over a bikini top, who does that?

As loony as it is, I kinda appreciate Paula's misguided plan. At least she tries to play her own game and not just be a mere accessory to the boys.

I noticed that Brad said during this conversation with Nehemiah that he considers Evan a good friend but he does not agree with the way he plays the game. I know they're playing for a lot of money but this is freaking Evan! Brad should be taking him out, not making an alliance with him. I guess everyone has a price and Davis has more balls than he does. On side note, not liking the extra weight on Brad. It makes him look like an aging guido.

I am glad she is doing well too. If it weren't for Ruthie's edit, I would have sworn Kim would have had a chance at beating her. A small chance.
Really? I understand it is your opinion, but since when has Paula ever played her own game? She showed this episode that she is dependent on Evan calling her name.

I can't remember the exact quote from Brad (or whichever other competitor commented on it), but from the way I read it, I took it that quote to mean that it was surprising to him that Ruthie and Landon won. And from thinking that I said how I thought both of them are great competitors and I'm surprised it's was a shock to him. That's all, no over analyzing from me on that topic. Just maybe reading what Brad said the wrong way.

Ok, I don't know where I got that wildcard win. I think I was reading someone's response at the other forum and thats where I got it but this is what Brad just said. I just watched it.
"Landon and Ruthie are an interesting combo of people that nobody predicted and I have no idea how their politics will combine and I have to see how the list comes out."
As I stated before, I think what he was referring to is that they are not in an alliance together, therefore the picking order is going to be complicated. It would be like Isaac and Rachel winning, weird combo.
I am sure Brad is well aware of Landon and Ruthie's athletic abilities. Brad was in BOTS 2 and G2 with Ruthie. He was also in I2 with Landon.
I figured he was exaggerating, but he did look a lot bigger on those ropes to me. But thanks for the info!
I just looked up Mark on imdb to find out his age, and his height was actually listed as 6'3 1/4," so that's very close to MJ's 6'4," and MJ always looked much taller than Landon, so I guess Landon wasn't exaggerating.
tjhallow, you could be right. Like I said, maybe I just misread what Brad said.
Yeah, not to mention even Ev said he was 37. So I think 41 is an exaggeration.
I just rewatched the episode, and I never realized how many people were rooting for Davis.
Landon said Mark is 2 feet taller then him when he has his arms up. I think he meant height from hands raised to feet is taller then Landons head to toe.
