That it is. After seeing the movie, I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I do want to mention that many things that were added were useless and confused me.

I saw the movie last night. I didn't care for it. There were parts that made me giggle... but for the most part it was a bomb. I felt like the movie built and built and built up to something that never happened. I've talked to some people who have read the books. They clarified a few things for me. However, I still wish I wouldn't have wasted my money.
Yeah Insider. I found myself explaining many things to people. What's so weird is, hardcore fans are so disappointed with this one, yet this movie has received the best reviews.

After seeing the movie, I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I do want to mention that many things that were added were useless and confused me.
Kind of spoiler-y for non-book readers but here are my thoughts on the added scenes:
I thought the attack on London scene was fine, but the fight at the Burrow really didn't accomplish what I think they were shooting for. It definitely ended up being useless and a time filler which wasn't necessary. They had already established that things weren't safe outside Hogwarts with the London attack I don't think they needed to show it again with an attack on what Harry would consider his home away from home. It would have been much more productive to just do the Hogwarts mini-battle that was in the book. My only guess is that they didn't want to be repetitive with the final battle in the 7th book, but they already kind of did that with the Burrow attack assuming they keep that in the 7th movie.
I enjoyed it also. I only compare the movies to each other. Like, how well did it advance the story line from the last movie, did the plot make sense, was it filmed well, all that stuff. This was actually my first HP movie I saw AFTER reading the books. After seeing 'Order' I was convinced I liked where the story was heading so I decided to read all the books. Plus I didn't want to know the end by someone telling me and the 7th book was coming out soon. I think I read or listened to all of them in about a month! Audiobooks help work to go a little faster that's for sure :) I wish there had been more Neville, more quidditch, more Tonks and Lupin but overall I quite enjoyed it. Probably my third favorite movie, smack in the middle of the bunch because it still felt a little too rushed with each storyline.
Tater, I agree with some points. I think that it is only fair to compare the movies to each other, rather than against the book which wins everytime. Tonks and Lupin definitely should have gotten more time, considering their role will be greater in the next two movies.

Who wouldn't Tater? Their stroyline is huge and if they don't do it, I will be upset. I think the fact that this last book is split in two may give more time to add as much as possible. I have faith.

The fact that they at least mentioned their relationship at the Burrow is good and maybe they are saving their development for the next movies. If both movies are 2.5 hours that is 5 hours of HP goodness! I have also seen some photos of scenes being shot at Shell Cottage that look really well done as to how I would imagine it so that is also giving me hope :)

My friend told me the next 2 movies will be released fairly close to each other, so I'm guessing maybe they'll be released in 2012 or 2013. Anyone know for sure?

They are filming them back to back only to break for promotion of the 1st film I believe.
I like that they will be coming out close together, that way people don't forget much about the movie. There is a lot to remember from this one to the next.

Good to know!
Me too Lamb Chop! November birthday here. I like that they release them at that time. This movie was the first one though to actually make me sad.

Probably because I know what happens next, but that last look Alan Rickman, Snape, gave to Harry at the end was just heartbreaking.
It was Tater. It is a lot worse when you know what happens next. Like I knew what was coming at the end of this movie, so I was already prepared.

I answered your question a few days ago:
I also saw that the release date for Deathly Hallows (part 1) is November 19 2010, with part 2 following July 15 2011.
I'm not a huge, huge fan but here are my thoughts: Like the books a lot...and obviously the books are always better...but this movie seriously sucked. It was slow, boring, too long, and cut out ALL OF THE BEST PARTS of the book. Book 6 is one of my favorites too. No battle scene? No funeral!? What terrible, terrible choices in adaptation. First Harry movie I saw in the theater. And also the last. I'll wait for DVD for the rest, thank you.
Yeah, I was pissed tgat they left out the funeral because it is important for later.
I thought I read somewhere that they may include it at the beggining of the next movie, but I can't remember where or if it was credible. I will try to look it up when I go home today.
HP6 brought in $159.7 million dollars in 5 days, which is a new record. The second "Goblet of Fire" (in purple) is Chamber of Secrets.
Broke the Dark Knight records for biggest midnight Wednesday opening. I feel there was so much story to tell that they didnt fit it all in, obviously. I am glad the next film is two different movies because I feel things will be explained better. The ending was wayyyy to rushed. What is the order of these movies in terms of the most successful money-wise?
Sorcerer's Stone: $974.7 (5th highest grossing film of all time) Chamber of Secrets: $878.6 (14th) Prisoner of Azkaban: $795.6 (21st) Goblet of Fire: $895.9 (12th) Order of the Phoenix: $938.2 (7th) Once the last two movies come out, it'll be the highest grossing series of all time. It's currently second.
What did you all expect? Yeah it sucked that they left some stuff out like the funeral. Really though you think about it this book wasent as exciting as the rest. Honestly out of all the books this one had the least action. This book and movie was basically getting ready for the last part of the series. This was basically setting up events for the next book the final one. It was really just about Harry finding out about more of the past and finding out about the Horcruxes. This next movie will be EPIC.
Really, They left out the funeral?
Really, They left out the funeral?
Yes, among other parts.
Damn, they can't pay tribute to a major part of the series?
Damn, they can't pay tribute to a major part of the series?
I'm really hoping that they somehow incorporate it into the last movie, as it plays a role in the last book.
Sweet the first part will come out the day before my 20th birthday! MIDNIGHT PREMIERE!
