Intervention
Has anyone else ever watched Intervention on A&E? Initially it is quite depressing, but to see people get turned around is usually worth it. I use to watch regularly, but it seems over time I moved on to more cheery programming. Anyway, I got sucked into the 12/29 episode that was just replaying with Brittany the Dilaudid addict. I watched all the way through and waited for the payoff - and then it says she left rehab 3 weeks in (and is probably back to prostituting herself for a fix.) WTF! Kill me why don't you. What a waste. You have a free ride in front of you and you quit? Now I remember why I stopped watching. The failures are brutal. Especially when it is a young pretty girl with her full life in front of her. I am going to give Casie a chance later tonight and see if she can turn things around...
I've only seen like one episode of Intervention, I've always wanted to watch it but never really knew the channel or times. Is a new season beginning?

It is much better than that sober house or celebrity rehab fauxreality junk. ;)

Crap I've missed it. So its every Mondays at 10 pm eastern in A&E?
Crap I've missed it. So its every Mondays at 10 pm eastern in A&E?
Mondays at 8PM ET is a repeat, 9PM ET is a new episode and then they both replay at 12AM and 1AM Tuesday Morning, respectively.

Especially if you have ever dealt with substance abuse in your life. It hits home hard. I have seen some very sad stories, and I have seen some pitiful ones!

When they watch Celebrity Rehab sometimes my boss can't find me for a few hours because I get sucked in and never return to my office. Not to be depressing, but unfortunately a majority of those with substance abuse issues will eventually relapse, so the show is probably pretty representative of the actual rate of sobriety. We have a wall of photos of those who have died because of addiction that went through our program, it still stops me in my tracks some days when I walk by.
For some reason I decided to watch an old Intervention today. It is one I'll never forget (Audrey Withem.) The scene where she is passing out while standing up bouncing off the mirror after shooting up heroin always stuck with me... Looks like she is doing really well (although about two years ago she said she was getting married and is currently listed as single on her myspace page.) The sad thing is, even after most of the people on this show commit to rehab, if you were to look them up 5 years down the road the vast majority have propably relapsed, so it is great to see a story that has a happier ending than most. This show is definately one of my favorites. It doesn't hold back and is so engaging. I found it awhile back quite alarming that when they did the reunion that most of the people that have been on the show have become soper/currently soper.
There have been a few that have stood out to me, the biggest one is the girl who was huffing computer cleaner. She was all kinds of messed up, she took a huff and said" It's like I'm walking on sunshine" I keep trying to see if they are going to revisit her, but there is nothing so far.

They are actually doing a follow-up special tonight with her, called "The Dangers of Huffing" or something like that. She'll be on tonight. From the previews I saw this weekend she actually looks really good now. EDIT: Per FutonCritic.com it's called Intervention: In Depth: Huffing, and it's on tonight at 9pm. :)
The weirdest one I saw was the one were the guy wasn't treating his diabetes properly. They brought him because he was depressed and to learn to life agian.
