Last One Standing
Has anyone seen this show....The first episode airs on the discovery channel Thurs. at 9 but it is already on the web. I thought it was great. This is the first part of the write up about it on discovery website. In the thrilling new Discovery Channel series LAST ONE STANDING, six athletes – three American and three British – are immersed in the most remote tribes in the world, where they live alongside and train with indigenous tribespeople as they prepare to represent their host tribe in raw and intense competition. From death-defying Zulu stick fighting in South Africa to an arduous foot race in the Mexican mountains — wearing only handmade sandals — these men push their physical and mental limits to see who will be the last warrior standing. This new 12-part series premieres Thursday, Oct. 4, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Check it out if you have time.....I think it will be well worth your time!
This did catch my attention and I am a big fan of Discovery Channel Programming (Que Bloodhound Gang - Aint nothing but mammals) I hate the fact that it is on at 9:00 PM on Thursday! That is a death sentence to any show with Grey's Anatomy, CSI and The Office staring in that time slot! The good news is that Discovery has a predictable repeat cycle, so it won't be hard to catch at an off hour. I just might tune in, if I think I can fit it in.
If you have a free minute while online...they have the whole first episode posted already!
I am going to catch the replay at 1 AM on Discovery.
I watched Last One Standing last night and thought that it was a well put together show with awesome cinematography. Unfortunately, it just did not appeal to me overall. Maybe I am just more interested in who is getting voted off the island rather then who has lived on the island for 5,000 years and how they fight. Even with the interspersed tribal nudity, there just wasn't enough to keep my interest for the full hour. I was disappointed with the cast (as a former wrestling champ in high school I appreciated the sport and wished there would have been at least one true wrestler from our culture to go up against the best from their culture, rather then the "amateur hour" which we were given.) This show has all the makings of a Discovery Channel hit, it is just not my kind of programming. I also gave pass on a similar show, Human Weapon on TLC, which is a lessor series with a similar ideology. I am glad that I watched an episode and will not rule out catching one passively in the future.
I guess I just have a thing for that type of show...and survivor.. Survival of the fittest things.....I would love to do something like that! Fully clothed of course. Glad you checked it out anyway. I do agree....I sure wanted one of them to win
