YASSS for Japan making it on your list. They make good movies but the ones that come out here in the West are whitefied or dumb down. I remember posting the trailer of the ring vs. the grudge here somewhere, but I haven't watched it, and probably won't watch it unless I hear some good reviews about it. Have I seen battle royale ? The **** you thought! Of course I did and it's really really reallllly good.
I loved the first two but Gensis and Apocalypse ruined it. They really did veer off the path of the the first two. They were pointless, but they were fun so I'll give it that.

1) I agree japan is good for movies but imma not waste my time if its not getting good reception. I remember the White Ghost and Black Ghost movies with a couple of people from Morning Musume in it but it didn't look good so I didn't bother. I did see Final Curse Ju On and it was pretty ok.
2) Battle Royale is good but the second one is awful. I just didn't like the ending at all. And I know Kinji passed away and his son took over but stil he could've waited a year to touch it up. We almost got an american version but Virginia Tech, then The Hunger Games then the movie theater shooting happened and Neil Moritz said not right now, I feel cheated out of a good experience lol

Well not huge fan of those either. They take old popular movies and do them again, use same beats bc money. I have seen really few sequels what are good (mad max).
I just want to see some new interesting stuff, something what we have not seen before.

Apparantely the Flash has a cameo in SS and Scott Eastwood (Clint Eastwood's son, the man who talks to an invisible man sitting on an empty chair) does as well.
Unless it's filmed in Los Angeles, a fourth I Know movie will not happen with JLH as her and Freddie Prinze have declined to return. The director of Oculus is most likely directing it.
