San Diego and St.thomas ratings were better than Portland.
The ratings were slightly better but they were also consistently dropping with each season after Las Vegas. My point is San Diego and St. Thomas did not deliver after the success of Las Vegas. Portland was a good season but after two terrible back-to-back seasons people were already checking out of Real World. Portland had the drama and entertainment that would've kept Real World alive if it had aired right after Las Vegas.
If Portland was as good then it would have done what New Orleans and Las Vegas did after DC.
In my opinion after Las Vegas the only season that had a great cast overall was Skeletons.

I still disagree. There are other factors you have to look at between the time periods of NOLA and Portland like MTV as a network along with the growing competition of reality shows. Also as I first pointed out Portland came on after two terrible seasons while NOLA only came on after one bad season and Las Vegas aired after a great season.
The second New Orleans and Las Vegas seasons really brought The Real World back to life. I remember Back to San Diego had high ratings in the premiere since it was coming after a successful season but then ratings flopped because that season was so boring. I honestly couldn't even finish it.
It's too bad that Portland aired after two flop seasons because if we had New Orleans/Las Vegas/Portland/Ex-Plosion/Skeletons back to back then I believe the ratings would've stayed consistent.
