Maybe it's just me, but I think some people here blow things way out of proportion. I mean no disrespect to anyone but that's just the way I feel. I understand some people aren't fans of Joey and don't agree with alot of the things he's done (he's done some things I don't agree with either) but that's no reason to bash him.
So Joey said that he didn't like living with four girls that b**** all the time. I'm pretty sure that now he's friends with all of the girls (minus Ayiiia) and from the looks of it they didn't take any offence too it. But many women (myself included) can get quite b****y at times. So why should Joey (or anyone for that matter) be happy about having to spend alot of his time with girls that he hardly knew if he wasn't getting along with them? I know I wouldn't be excited about it.
Now like I said I'm not all for Joey and completely against Ayiiia, because both of them have done things I don't agree with. I just think that some people are a little over the top with the Joey hate just because they like Ayiiia. That's just my opinion, I know that not everyone is going to agree with me and I don't expect everyone to.
These are all from Joey on Vevmo or Twitter, unedited by anyone but himself. These are the reasons I don't like him. I haven't watched Cancun or really kept up on it since half way through the second ep so I have no real connection to Ayiia. It's only his words and actions that have turned me off.
On Kate dissing his season after seeing the first few eps:
I think its funny that Kate talks **** about us, don't hate girl or guy, whichever you prefer, we all had a blast...you might be the biggest loser I know for leaking this ****, I told production anyhow that you were leaking all this ****..so hopefully you will get a life, or a ****, and shut your god damn mouth for once, seriously, be quiet.
NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY
Have a great day
-joey

I may of been offensive to kate, but I'm not really sorry, I speak my mind and have no regrets on what I said, its not fair for someone to judge or say things about you when they have never even seen you before. Therefore the comments I made were supposed to be offensive and rude...thats just me haha
-Joey
Random post about watching Cancun I believe:
Watchie watchie watchie
get wasted, again.
dont watch the hills tho
because thats just stupid
they are stupid
the girls, not the hills
i mean the hills were there first
then a bunch of rich cry baby girls
gave the hill a bad reputation
poor hill

Well, I think if people can trash the women (calling them gendered slurs?), then we can reasonably criticize Joey, particularly since his behavior was far more obsessive and egregious. You know how much *** I would kick if a "friend" repeatedly told the world how obnoxious and pathetic I was, isolated me from several hang-outs, ignored how uncomfortable I was during the cutting incident and used my confession against me, and dropped C-bombs at me whenever I dared to have a dissenting opinion? And then hugged me immediately afterwards, constantly making jokes about having sex with me? Yeah, not happening.
The only reason he continues to behave in such an absurd manner is because he knows that when he throws conciliatory crumbs at the ground, they'll graciously devour them. Without validation, he would crumble, and he probably would've thought twice about deliberately triggering a mentally ill person. I believe that people are validated in their contempt for a person, *any* person, who behaves in such a manner simply because they can.
OK, not defending Joey on his words on Katelynn, she clearly started it first. I doubt he would just come here and talk **** on someone he didn't know for no reason.
You are all giving Joey what he wants, a reaction.
PS. The hills post was probably a joke, he loves Lauren Conrad.

You can talk **** without using the language and words he uses.
I hate the Hills, so I guess just another reason to add to the list.
OK, not defending Joey on his words on Katelynn, she clearly started it first. It was bigoted nonsense. Maybe next time he shouldn't rely on scraping the gutter and instead he'll present a more cerebral argument. There's no way I'd let that fly if it was a racial slur, reasoning be ******, so people have no reason to tolerate another variation of blatant prejudice.
I think validating or excusing his behavior is giving him more what he wants. I never liked social climbers who abuse their power, so my position is pretty consistent.

To be fair most people in real life act the same way when they're fired... Just because it's on television, Joey is being crucified for it. The only time you really see someone stay somewhat classy when they lost their job is when they are "laid off." So nothing Joey did was out of the norm.
I swear some of you people on this forum could quite possibly be the classiest people alive knowing you'd be nice to people who fired your ***.
I am really beginning to wonder if Joey was a female with huge breasts, sunkissed skin, and big alluring brown eyes if you all with the exception of I think...four of us Joey <3ers...would change your tune and affections? Oh wait, that's Ayiiia. Minus the huge chest. She has a very nice one though.

He is crucified for everything. Even when he is getting along and cool with everyone in the house but the *****y girls who may be flowin' that week, there is still something to pick out. He is no saint, no, but some of the comments are just getting outright redicilious.
Let's hate Joey even more because he likes the Hills. That's like me saying I now will never eat tater tots because of spiel you have to say about Joey. And don't worry, I would take tater tots over The Hills any day.

I am a straight girl who has been attracted to guys that LOOK like Joey in the past. If I can't get you to understand why I don't like him by showing you the things he said himself that I disagree with than I don't know what else I can do. Like omnislashed said, if his remarks were racist instead of homophobic and intolerant a lot of you "Joey lovers" may be singing a different tune!

I'm not saying that people wouldn't be upset about being fired, but they would address their former employer in a more eloquent manner. Reciting a soliloquy consisting of swear words only makes you look ignorant and foolish.

What the hell? Seriously? So you saying that I would dislike him less if he was a girl and looked different is better? Ok then. Over this. He and this discussion are taking up too much of my time.
At first I thought it was the editing that made Joey look bad but as the episodes went on I started to notice that he's so immature. Where does he hope to get in life with this attitude, and does he think by the way he acts he's going to make 13 year old girls wanting to be all over him? I don't think so.
I am really beginning to wonder if Joey was a female with huge breasts, sunkissed skin, and big alluring brown eyes if you all with the exception of I think...four of us Joey <3ers...would change your tune and affections? This is evidenced by various comments on the MTV website: "Joey, what you did was mean, but whatever, you're so hawt!" Misogynists, transphobes, and homophobes are revolting regardless of their sex or physical beauty (which is subjective, by the way). I'm certainly not going to give him a pass. Why would I?
I criticize anybody who exhibits the aforementioned behaviors. Joey just happens to be an ~edgy~ goon on a reality show, so the criticism is much more collectively shared.
I notice that whenever people trash Ayiiia, they usually have to resort to slurs about her gender. Hand-waving away something as "just a joke" (as Joey does) is just a convenient way to avoid dealing with the repercussions of their behavior. It's an easy loophole. Particularly for people who have absolutely no principles, and think attacking somebody's mental illness or demographic identity is open season. It isn't. It's a punkass move with absolutely no cleverness behind it. And he's already proven to be unable to stomach a taste of his own medicine; he blubbers so hard at any hint of rejection. So.

I am sorry I don't fit your preset mold. I do not and will never find Joey attractive (and by saying I would probably hook up with a female given the option to veto a hookup with Joey, it is entirely truthful) nor do I belong in any of these categories: misogynists, transphobes, and homophobes.
And do correct me if I am wrong, but Joey is a homophobe because he said these nasty homophobic comments to...Derek? Oh wait, no, so far I have seen nothing out of the ordinary with his behavior with Derek. Unless Derek wants to come on here and say how awful Joey treated him, it seems Joey was peaceful and kind to Derek as well. Through MTV edit of course.
And since he said a nasty comment to Ayiiia via twitter, he is basically making fun of her choice in girlfriend and poking at her about her bisexuality? Since I believe she had a boyfriend before her present girlfriend.
I, personally, would not reach to call him phobic of LGBT due to his nasty comments to Ayiiia and Katelynn. He just uses the angle that would "hurt" them the most. If anything, this proves his blatant insecurities and nasty need for retaliation over being phobic. I'm not his psychiatrist, and unless you are, who are we to properly describe what Joey has for phobias or mental issues?
I can't really comment anymore in this thread without a headache. Fact is, we don't know him. I understand some of you who are unwilling to see any good and outright dislike him, and I get that. I even share the same philosophies with most of you. (And for the record tater, I was just playing about Joey as a female thing. No harm meant.)
He disliked one cast member: Ayiiia. He got along with the other six. The other six seem to love him and find him worthy of their time and affections. If they are willing to give him a chance and not just write him off like Hollywood with that silly wannabe model, then so will I. I understand everybody is different and their acceptance levels are as well, and I am not trying to get all of you to magically like Joey. He earned his reputation with some of you and he deserves whats been said. I just think its getting redundant and down right annoying, and the second anyone who doesn't hate Joey tries to post, we get *********ed.
Anyway, I cannot wait for the new hate fad which I think may be flung towards Jonna's way in the next five episodes. And I have read what all of you have to say, and you all have valid opinions. Some accept easy, some not so much. I just know I've done a few things I am not proud of and I would hate to be judged on those things alone when its clear he has lots of support and friends who find him worthy, especially his six other cast mates. He did bring the entertainment factor up like six notches, so I am curious to see next week without him. Done for now though =)
[N]or do I belong in any of these categories: misogynists, transphobes, and homophobes.
I mentioned you belonged to one of those categories? I was pretty clear in stating those were descriptors about Joey. It wasn't a personal dig towards you at all.

It doesn't matter if Joey treats a singular gay person nicely -- if he verbally assaults another homosexual on the basis of their homosexuality (using an intense slur like "****"), then he's making a homophobic statement. For the record, there's a Daily video of Joey & Co. describing Derek as a "cool gay" because he's not obnoxious like "those other gays". Imagine if somebody said that to a black person? Because that happens often, and it's a serious problem. Using a human being as a yardstick to define how other people in their demographic group should behave is really, really uncool.

I'm not his psychiatrist, and unless you are, who are we to properly describe what Joey has for phobias or mental issues?
The "-phobia" descriptor isn't meant to be literal, though. The technical term is "heterosexism" (and for transphobia, "cissexism") -- and I believe it still applies here. Besides, I'm not sure how Joey relying on scraping the gutter for bigoted attacks to "hurt" people makes him a defensible person. It just shows how tacky he behaves when under pressure, imagined or otherwise.
I mean, they're collectivist insults. If you antagonize one person on the basis of their demographic, you insult every person in that group, whether it's intended or not. Even if *one* other person gets caught up in the crossfire, you've overstepped. The target is diminished not only because the language implies that they are lesser for having those traits (being a "****" or a "C-bomb" for example), but they are diminished at the expense of those people the language was intended to degrade. I hope that's clearer.
I just think its getting redundant and down right annoying, and the second anyone who doesn't hate Joey tries to post, we get *********ed.
I don't think anybody intends to bludgeon Joey defenders -- just Joey. Yeah, there's a lot of partisan behavior towards cast members we prefer, but I think if we're allowed to criticize the behavior of cast members on reality television, I don't think Joey should be exempt.

I agree with the points you made. Joey was out of line making that comment about Ayiiia.
Alright so I tried to give Joey the benefit of the doubt but even outside of the show he's doing jerkish things...apparently he told his myspace buddies to verbally attack Ayiiia and Christina. If this is true I've lost whatever respect I ever had for Joey.

That must be his way of showing how much he "doesn't care". :sarcastic_hand:
Not to be a complete apologist for Joey, but I have lived with people who had very sympathetic stories who were just as flaky as Ayiiia. That crap does get old pretty quick. There is a point where you have to sort of push back against high-maintenance people or be consumed by them and their drama no matter what their good traits may or may not be or how awful you might look.

I think the problem with this logic is Joey was the most high maintenance person in the house. Always attention seeking, always in the middle of everything and going out of his way to create drama.
That's not pushing back against the problem. That's being the problem...

I guess it could be a chicken or egg argument, but Joey is pretty much consistently Joey throughout. Ayiiia, however, comes across as a little Three Faces of Eve.
I guess it could be a chicken or egg argument, but Joey is pretty much consistently Joey throughout. Ayiiia, however, comes across as a little Three Faces of Eve.
See, I agree that Joey has been himself the whole time (which is not a good thing in his case), but I also believe Ayiiia has. I can't say the same for some of the other roommates who appear to flip flop, but that's not for this thread.
And like B said, Ayiiia wasn't the high maintenance one. Ayiiia was completely fine with ignoring Joey and she had no problem admitting to her faults and stating not everyone will like everyone, but Joey refused to be ignored. He constantly went at her because he wanted a reaction out of her. Maybe this was just Joey being Joey, and maybe that's him being real, but that doesn't make it right. I don't think just because Joey is a self proclaimed "bad boy" means it excuses any of his behavior.
(For the record, I'm not saying you or anybody else said it does excuse his behavior. Just pointing that out...)
I guess it could be a chicken or egg argument, but Joey is pretty much consistently Joey throughout. Ayiiia, however, comes across as a little Three Faces of Eve.
I'm not entirely sure about this. The Dailies reveal some fascinating illumination about Joey's behavior -- everybody's behavior, in fact -- and the overall group dynamic wasn't so cut-and-dry. Most of the cast exhibited severe vacillation in their approaches toward Ayiiia; i.e Joey laughing hysterically at the "piglet" comment and then later braying about disrespect, Joey persistently trying to have sex with Ayiiia and then later on describing her as physically hideous, CJ having an intense heart-to-heart about Ayiiia's abortion and then pumping his fist during the fight where Emilee used it as ammo, etc.
I don't know, this entire cast just strikes me as incredibly shady. Yeah, Ayiiia's behavior can be rather obnoxious at times -- I certainly won't deny this -- but on the other hand, she doesn't particularly seem desperate for approval and validation from the boys, which seems to enrage the cast. She seemed content to ignore Joey in the beginning, but he seriously couldn't handle somebody who rejected his ways, appeared indifferent to his "bad-boy charms", and held him accountable for his own behavior.
IMO, it's more meaningful if a person is consistent in their beliefs, ideologies, and principles, rather than just consistently having a nasty demeanor. I suppose a reasonable argument can be made that he exhibits some joviality, but I noticed he often masquerades a lot of repugnant comments as humor. His eventual actions usually end up proving otherwise ... that it oftentimes isn't just a joke. Just my perspective on the matter.
