They can't cast based on previous seasons. They tried the whole "getting back to its roots" thing with DC and look how that turned out. The audience has changed over time. While working at an AIDS clinic is something to admire, no one whould care to watch that. They can't just say "this person looks like they would have an abortion on the show, lets cast them so we can get back to our roots!" It's not too late to "save" the show. It bounced back after the **** show that was DC and it will do it again after saint thomas. My thoughts on Tami are that when she was on the show, I loved her. HOWEVER, I think it's very very very sad to see how she acts now on Basketball Wives.
I'm not sure if any of you have heard about this, but I'm watching "Happy Endings" right now because I saw the commercials of them saying this episode was showing lost footage of the characters had once been on The Real World: Sacramento. Not sure if this show is popular or not, but I'm glad to see RW getting some publicity.

They were kind of poking fun at TRW but it was done so well. It was especially funny because the season that some of the cast on the show was on was supposed to have taken place in 2002 but everything about it was so 90s.
One of my favorite episodes of Futurama has a part where Layla and and Bender are watching The Real World : The Sun
I find that sad.
Why though? And pay no mind to that poster. Tami is not incoherent on Basketball Wives. She just became very messy where as on LA RW she was just outspoken if you will.
I'm 6'4" and most women are not tall enough in many respects. I've also seen other pictures of her that were not from TV that made her much more appealing. Don't get me wrong both Kina and Ibis are beautiful as well. As for what RW Season she could have been on, what year did RR X-Treme air compared to RW?
Summer 2004.
I think height is something that makes someone look better in person but it doesn't translate to TV very well.
LOL, True.
One of my favorite episodes of Futurama has a part where Layla and and Bender are watching The Real World : The Sun
LOL, there's an episode of "Charmed" (1999) where they go to the future (2009) and the TV goes "next up..The Real World: on The Moon"."
Hmm, I understand that the show wanted to portray as this party girl and whatnot, but I kind of wish they had showed her grandad dying, it could've been pretty interesting to see, in my opinion. I also found it sort of interesting how she said she and Colie didn't really talk that much, considering on the show they were really close.
Jenn you mean? I didn't know her grandfather died
I'm watching Restore The Shore right now and I think it would be awesome for season 29 to be in New Jersey. The roommates could help in the community just like the NOLA season did for Katrina.
While I agree it wouldn't be that interesting of a potrayal.
I was just thinking who from TRW became household names based solely off their RW antics, I'd say Eric Nies, Pedro, Puck, Flora, Ruthie & Trishelle. I'd also like to say Coral but thats more because of The Challenges she did. Are their any others?
I wouldn't consider Flora or Ruthie household names. Danny and Melinda and maybe Paula could be added.
I'd say Ruthie is definitely a household name although to current viewers she's obviously not as relevant. Hawaii was Ruthie for half of the season. I remember some magazines at the time had her story on it and her story was on VH1/E! specials for reality tv moments.
Random little note, during Wednesday's episode of WWE Main Event on Ion, The Miz was wrestling and one of the commentators, Michael Cole, mentioned to the other commentator, JBL, that JBL used to really hate The Miz and for some reason doesn't hate the guy anymore. JBL responded that the kid worked hard and that "You don't see Johnny Bananas or any of his Real World partners ending up in a wrestling ring and being successful!"
JEK in the WWE would involve them throwing in their friends to fight for them as they shout out one liners from the ref's microphone about how ridiculous they all look fighting in underwear.
I wouldn't consider Flora or Ruthie household names. Danny and Melinda and maybe Paula could be added.
I meant at the time, not now. Danny, Melinda and Paula, no, never. Just to give an example of a household name now; I'd consider Snooki to be the only household name in the Jersey Shore cast.

You are trying to turn your opinions/what you want into facts now.

Wouldn't the Situation still count from Jersey Shore? As to Ruthie from Hawaii, her alcoholism on her season was well-known but most kids today don't have any idea what has happened on seasons prior to Back To NY or even prior to the Fresh Meat on Challenges. I doubt many kids today have any idea who Pedro Zamora is, the effect he had on the US, the changes he brought about or his battles with Puck. All of which is **** shame in my opinion. I would not consider Flora a household name but Dan from Miami I would. As for JBL mentioning the other guys, the one thing that no one doubted with the Miz was his commitment to the wrestling business and he has been a goldmine for the WWE. Vince McMahon wants people are committed to the business and if they are not they'll fall by the wayside. JBL was basically making the statement the Miz committed himself to it and Bananas and the others would never make that kind of commitment to something.
From recent seasons I'd say Dustin, Heather, Frank
I definitely think Teck can be considers a household name. He hosted a buncha stuff after his season & appeared in many movies& such.
I remember during the Hawaii/Semester At Sea casting special, they had a big debate on if they wanted veronica on Real World or Road Rules. Had she been on RW, I think she wouldn't been even more of a household name . Add Joey, Coral, and Aneesa to the list. (I remember during Exes "Aneesas Booty" was a nationwide trending topic on twitter lol)

I think an argument could even be made for Joey Kovar.
I know Sean Duffy and Rachel are trying to distance themselves from Real World and MTV since 2008, especially now that he is in Congress. Joey went on to do Celebrity Rehab so he got a bit of fame boost from that.
So I know that RW was only going until season 28. Is Portland the last season?
28 seasons, 20 years and still no asian male, huh? haha.
^My thoughts as well. Shallow much?
I wonder why. In ALL 28 seasons they can't say that they haven't found one who was unique enough because I find that hard to believe. It also makes me kinda upset that they jumped the minimum age to 20 because it leads prospective room mates to believe you need to be turning 21 close to or during filming. Some of the best room mates were 19 or 20 when they were on the show. Wes, Nehemiah, Annesa, Jonna, Svet..
I've posted this before, but it's still relevant to the Asian cast member topic Only 2 Races in the US - YouTube

Not saying that this is definite but merely a theory.
***** too funny. It's true though. Out of the 30,000 kids at my university only 1,000 are AA though. Then again, it's West Texas. The Real World has no problem casting Asians, though. Women anyways. Even Joi from this season is Asian, but I just really want to know why they haven't cast one asian guy yet. there has to be a logical, non-racist answer right?
Like seriously, this guy is more interesting than anyone from St. Thomas Real World 27 (Home Submission Tape): Benjamin "Ben10" Phan - YouTube He said he made it to round 3, so at least they're considering Asian males.
