The key word is "yet". There is a difference between not getting gear cleared "yet" and not getting gear cleared, period. Clearing it with the university is not the issue: people wear gear "representing" a certain team all the time out in public. She had to clear it with production, and that was it. But if she said "yet", that makes a lot more sense. For all we know, her going to the gym could have been mere hours after entering the house (I don't remember the conversation she had with Leroy at the gym).
I get what you're saying (about it not being cleared "yet"), and I admit I have no knowledge about the production of this show. If you're saying that you know for sure that she did not have to clear it with anyone else, I will take your word for it (although I'm not sure whether that's what you meant). What I was trying to say is this: Student athletes sign contracts with their universities with clauses forbidding them to do any endorsements, receive any pay for their athletic skills, etc. A sample policy can be found here There has also been some recent controversy over who should be able to profit from current and former student athletes' images. When I used the word "represent," I meant that athletes wearing their team colors/name might be seen as representatives of the school and the team in a more official capacity than other students or people not affiliated with the school who do the same. I was simply trying to suggest that a former student athlete wearing her school's logo on a reality show (where perhaps she could be considered to be profiting in some way, or endorsing something) might have had to clear that with the university or NCAA first. Cooke didn't say this was the case, but it came to my mind as a possible explanation.
I understand exactly what you're saying as well, but as far as I know, student athletes are forbidden to do any endorsements while they are a student. She graduated in 2010 and would have no longer been under that clause.
It seems odd still to me. Zito said they went through his stuff as soon as he arrived so I am not sure why they didn't do that with Cooke. I was under the impression that whole thing went down before a week after she was there (plus what would she have worn for that whole week if all her clothes were not yet cleared). I don't think it is a big deal, nor should it have been, but sometimes it seems like cast members throw out whatever answer works for them for the interview so I am wondering if this was the case.

Maybe it was a matter of getting lost at the airport. Who knows.
Very strange that "Loyola" was not cleared to wear, yet Leroy and Mike are almost constantly wearing Michigan and Maryland clothing.
Michigan and Maryland are both public universities. Loyola is a Jesuit Private University. The former are probably getting as many applications as possible. Loyola probably didn't want to be represented by someone on the real world...it's not the most...appealing resume bullet.
If I remember correctly, when Cooke first entered the house she mentioned something about having another bag. Maybe it was a matter of getting lost at the airport. Who knows.
I think they have the cast members walk with one suitcase and they bring the rest to the house later. Someone from the DC cast hinted at this when someone asked them about only having one bag finding the house. It'd be a pain for them to lug everything. Also, I was surprised Adam wore a Nike hoodie earlier this season that was blurred out. You'd think they wouldn't have let him have it on so they wouldn't have to blur.
I'm wondering if production decided not to blur her Loyola shirts on purpose. and when she asked "What am I supposed to do about work out shirts?" They probably suggested that she just borrow one from the guys, knowing that would stir up trouble. With the whole girls thing, I think all of them are a bunch of *********, except Heather. Cooke came in with a catty attitude and her remark about Zito was just a ******* thing to say. I get they were only dating for a few weeks, but really, you want to put yourself in that position and stir up that much trouble in the house?? No matter what the outcome would be, it would cause a huge house blowout. I just don't think that Cooke is that stupid. I think she knew exactly what she was doing as soon as she walked in the door. The other two girls were just acting like childish morons. & I agree with the previous poster who said they should have done a bullying public service announcement (they also should have done one during RW Sydney. The only girl I like so far is Heather~she seems genuine and mature.
I was annoyed by the way Naomi and Nany treated Cooke until I watched the dailies of her going in on Heather for no reason.. she seems very insecure and immature and very jealous of Heather off the bat. It's almost like she wanted the girls to hate her to look like the bigger person and when they didn't she became the catty one. If Naomi and Nany had made confessionals like "I hate soccer players" like Cooke did with "I hate blondes" people would be ripping them a new one.

They then go through all items to see if it has been cleared for wearing. Major name brands are either blurred or taped over depending on clearance or competition from sponsors. Shampoo, make-up etc..is all taped. For example Colie's camp and soccer team and Tulane had signed their releases. If I remember correctly her sorority was late sending back the forms. Production keeps everything until filming is complete. Then they return it ( minus a few missing cellphones) My point was that Heather had a last minute call. She probably just brought 2 suitcases.

Things like how do they handle mail since the mail/delivery man never comes and do the cast pay for their own groceries are oddly interesting to me.

It was where we were told to ship everything, the local UPS store....

Don't know if you can say or not, but how do they deliver it in the house? Do they have production mailboxes or does someone toss it on the respective beds or a mailcall or what? I have just wondered about that since they have a not-so secret production phone, if they have inboxes we don't see or notice.
