Also, considering The Challenge is a steady check, the younger and newer reality crowd SHOULD flock to this show.
Production has not handled the branding properly. I don't think the show, at least not in the decade I've watched, has ever been the most mainstream reality show. But, I feel like had they done things right the show could have breathed a lot of new life into it. Even if they doubled down on a feeder show I think it'd do wonders.

I know that season left a lot to be desired, but I really think the issues with the season were the cast and the skulls. The format outside of that was pretty interesting, and it's the only modern format that was somewhat preventative in having the rookies get targeted from the jump. I'd prefer a non-pairs season, but if they're gonna do pairs I'd rather this than the stretched pre-determined ones that we saw on Ride or Dies.
