Rivals 2 did have drama, and pretty much every episode, but the quality of storylines weren't the best. It seemed that the storylines in Rivals 2 were provided just drama, which is why every episode there was like one storyline with CT/Diem's and Cara being hated were ones that dragged all season long. It was still fun to watch, but I much rather prefer Rivals 1.
Part of me wishes CT/Adam and CT/Diem would've won Rivals and Exes respectively because those two seasons seemed to be designed as a road to redemption for CT after his Duel 2 stint. It also could have saved us from churning more Diem/CT storylines for Rivals 2.
Rivals 2 had relevant drama.
Knight vs Marlon wasn't drunken drama as u can tell Marlon still struggles with that.
Diem and CT was still an interesting storyline, and provided real catty drama. And as much as y'all hate this Rivals 2 brought entertainment in EVERY episode. There was not one episode where things were dull or expected. As I said be the only bad thing about Rivals 2 was the stretched pairs. Rivals 2 brought the ratings.
I would have preferred no drama over them trying to make Knight vs. Jemmye and the latter's fear of ketchup a storyline. Also, idk why that season bringing ratings means anything? So did Exes 1 and we all know how good that season is.

Rivals 2 was good drama wise but I HATED the final and I really HATED the reunion. That final was easy compared to BOTS2, Exes1, Rivals1, Cutthroat & FM2.
Drama/Fights we had Trashelle vs. Aneesa, Knight vs. Marlon, Jordan vs. Frank, Diem vs. Camila/Jemmye/Cooke, Jemmye/Camila vs. Bananas/Knight, Theresa's voting error, Anastasia vs. CT and CT vs. Diem (Which is the only part I thought was overdone)
Rivals 2 was tougher than Cutthroat though.
I disagree. Yes Cutthroat didn't have a swimming portion but I would rather do Rivals 2 final than Cutthroat. Rivals 1 was almost similar to Ruins and I thought Ruins was a tame final. Rivals 1 had 2 easy puzzles, an eating, a strength (moving the bodies) and digging. Cutthroat you had to push tires, carry a body on a stretcher, move wood up and down a hill, memorize the direction and words on a sign while crawling under barb wire. Cutthroat was more of an intense final than Rivals 2
Really the only 2 things that were bad about Rivals 2 were that 1) it was Rivals 2, and 2) Cooke got a replacement partner but Sarah didn't. It should have been a different theme; otherwise the challenge was ok.
Who would have been Sarah's partner though? The only one I can think of on the spot would have been Shavoun. Maybe Kellyanne but that's a huge stretch.
Sarah and Cara would have made much more sense than Cooke & Cara tbh.
replacements don't have to be a real rivalry look at Leroy & Mike they were close

Rivals 2 there was the hot sun. so imagine eating all those disgusting foods, trying to complete two puzzles, moving 20 bodies, digging through a lot of dirt, and running five laps in 100+ degree weather. oh and before this you had to swim to the island.
i would say mentally Cutthroat may be harder due to the memorization, but the Rivals 2 Final would tear your body down.

True. Good ratings doesn't always mean good show. Several seasons of this very show proves that.
And Rivlas 2 was decent/average just like Rivals 1 was.

I don't think it really matters because they brought in Cara for Cooke and I don't even remember if they had any previous "rivalry". And on Rivals 1 they brought in Mike who wasn't even a rival for Leroy anyways, so Sarah should have gotten one. Any of the alternates would have been fine.

Sarah & Cara would make more sense than Cooke and her. Since they had a real hatred of each other.
Imagine if Rivals 2 ended up being Duel 3 like supposedly production planned for? The guys would have been good with Frank, Bananas, Zach, CT, Leroy and Jordan but the girls would have been so interesting with Cooke, Emily, Sarah, Camila, Aneesa, Diem, Theresa, Nany and Paula.
Rookies vs Veterans would have been cool though with Frank, Zach, Jordan vs Bananas, CT, Leroy. They would just need better rookie girls because all they would have had is Cooke and Nany vs Emily, Sarah, Camila, Aneesa, Theresa and Paula
I feel like Rivals II received good ratings because MTV promoted the **** out of that season. It was a smart move for them to air an hour long special of the best moments in Challenge history. I also like how they aired a marathon of Rivals 1 to get fans excited for Rivals II. MTV need to go back to doing things like that. Free Agents and Exes II barely received any promotion. For the next season, they should air a marathon of Exes II since that was a really great season and go back to doing specials. During the golden era, MTV always aired specials to get fans excited for the upcoming season.

i once said the same thing and than Pinkey Rosey debunked my theory.

and because each episode was thoroughly entertaining. sure it didn't have a thorough storyline but you can't deny every episode was fresh and new, unlike Free Agents.
Former romantic partners are paired up to compete for the cash, but some of the teams are comprised of players who have barely even kissed. Dustin Zito makes his challenge entrance. Mark resurfaces after a 4 year break to be paired up with Robin. The Miz returns to the show after a seven year absence & hosts the reunion show. Dustin injures himself & ejects himself & girlfriend Heather from the Dominican Republic. Vinny rips off Mandi’s top in a club & is forced to leave the game with partner Sarah in tow. Emily & Ty put aside their differences & manage to get 3rd place while CT & Diem rekindle their dalliance & come in 2nd place to Johnny & Camila. While it’s always great to see a new format introduced, the partner challenge seems to have been done to death lately. A good old fashioned team-on-team game is sorely missed. High Point-It’s only been 3 years, I’ll come up with something eventually. Low Point-Johnny winning for the 4th time, & tying Darrell's record, is simply horrifying. Historical Moment-Rachel, Robin, Abram & Mark break up with the challenges & make Exes their MTV finale. The series says goodbye to four of its most notorious competitors. B-
Exes 1 was a boring, forgettable season. Nothing interesting or eventful happened. I also felt like there were way too many old scohoolers there too.
And on top of that all of the new challengers went early and Backpack winning yet again...yep. It really was a ****** challenge IMO.
Zach, Frank, Knight, Jemmye, Nany, Trey, Marie & Devyn are among the new additions to the show as the series attempts to get back to its roots with an old school challenge. It’s a bit of a smack in the face to the older fans that they ignore the fact that this should technically be considered a sequel. Eric & Devyn began a surprising courtship. Jonna dumps her boyfriend back home for a fling with the Fabio-like Zach. Knight tosses Nany’s clothes into the pool, just because he can, in perhaps an homage to the Tonya/Beth incident from The Inferno. Alton is back, but seems to have lost his love of the game. The San Diego faction claims a victory in the final challenge. The overabundance of fresh (non-Fresh Meat) faces makes this a fun, unexpected ride. It’s goodbye to former couple Danny & Melinda as they make their last appearance. High Point-CJ nearly defeats the hulking Zach in a thrilling round of hall brawl, but is ultimately bested. Wes’ loving friendship with Austin cast mate Lacey is unexpectedly sweet & he steps in to battle it out in the arena alongside her for the first elimination. Frank unleashes **** on Nany in a verbal spat that ends with Dustin shoving Frank’s face. Marie also gets in on the fun when she stands up for boyfriend Robb & pushes Derek who sends poor Sam flying into a potted plant. Low Point-A Fresh Meat team assembled last minute, punishes the viewers with Big Easy, Camila, Brandon & Cara Maria when a classic Road Rules team would have been such a tastier treat. Big Easy quits in the arena, leading Camila to lay waste to his self esteem with a quite justified reaming. He never made a return again. Zach & Frank’s bullying of Sam is hard to watch at times. Historical Moment-Tris****e makes a very welcome & shocking return after an unprecedented 14 season absence to join Team Vegas. She ends up placing 2nd along with Dustin. A-
Battle of the Seasons 2 is one of my favorite challenges. I loved seeing the new generation of Real Worlders interract with each other. It was great seeing most of the rookies get the spotlight. The Dustin/Nany vs. Frank fight is one of my all time favorites. So much crazy stuff went down that night. The only thing I hated was the outcome. I would've rather seen Team Brooklyn or Team Las Vegas win.
Oh Seasons 2...A **** good challenge. The cast was fresh and new among the likes that we(Sadly) will never get again. The format of having 4 people from a specific season represent them is awesome. The way the eliminations were picked was awesome. The drama was actually fun and interesting to watch and that hadn't been the case in years at that point. And Dustin really got to shine and show what he really can do for this franchise.
But I think Eric screwing Camilla out of a win should be a high point. It ensrued that actual Real World castmembers would control and win the game.
The only issues with it is winners. I didn't mind San Diego but I wasn't exactly rooting for them and they were given way too much power in the beginning I think. And the gamelplay was a bit off as well. I feel like with such a new cast they should've really tried to play the game their way and establish some new rules but that really didn't seem to happen. Other than that It's a fine challenge.
This is one of my favorite challenges of all time. Top 10 for me.
And I liked that you did the write up right after my post. Awesome.
Another low point would be Team Sydney getting sent home before filming began and we had to have that horrible Fresh Meat team. I love Cara Maria but didn't care much for the other three. I would've rather just seen the cast compete as 7 teams instead.

I personally didn't & still don't care for either of the Rivals seasons.
I agree, Graphik. They both had a few decent moments, but otherwise sucked.

then why give Rivals 1 a B?
Its tied with Darrell for 4 wins not breaking the record yet
Because a few decent moments, but mostly sucking = a B
Mostly sucking with no good moments would be a C. As I 've said before, even when the challenges suck, they're still pretty good.
Exes 1 was a boring, forgettable season. Nothing interesting or eventful happened. I also felt like there were way too many old scohoolers there too.

Marie needs to make her comeback asap. She was TV gold on Seasons 2. Imagine her on a challenge with girls like KellyAnne, Nany, Nia and Violetta.
Well she was on Seasons 2 with Nany....
I know I meant I want to see her back with her and the other girls together lol I loved Marie sticking up for Nany when Frank was coming at her.
If the series ends without one more appearance from Marie, it would be tragic.
And yes, Easy screwing Camila out of a win was glorious. I guess I put it as a low point because of how pathetic Eric was.

Battle of the seasons was overrated there were way to many weak links. Every team had one
