In the latest TV ratings, CBS’ Big Brother opened Season 24 with 3.7 million total viewers and a 0.8 demo rating, down 12 and 27 percent from last summer’s premiere but still leading Wednesday on both counts.
Leading out of BB, The Challenge: USA debuted to 2.2 mil and a 0.4, up 18 percent in audience from Love Island‘s year-ago season opener on CBS and up 233 percent from The Challenge‘s comparable MTV premiere last summer
It performed just below my benchmark of 60% of Big Brother ratings.
Thank you for posting this. I guess it's solid. It did better than love island. I'm curious to see how episode 2 does. I think a lot of people were interested in coming back for the next episode.
For further comparison Amazing Race, the show that never dies, premieredpremiered this January with 4.40, lowest episode was 2.97, finale was 3.97
2.2 million ain't that terrible but it only did 18 more percent than love island when it has all these "allstars" from all these cbs shows. Let's see how these next couple episodes do as the premiere usually gets the highest numbers
Remember when dirty 30 hit 1 million and it was such a big deal to the cast. Now they can't even get half of that :(. Whoever pitched the idea to go to CBS deserves a raise.
These ratings will probably drop under 2 million in a few episodes. CBS thought this racist anti-CO storyline would bring the viewers, but it clearly didn't. The racist CBS viewers probably thinks there too many black cast members anyways regardless of the CO.

Once again you can't compare a cbs to mtv shows when cbs is available to more people. Cbs should always have higher ratings... in my opinion it should have done way more than it did but it's ok it will probably drop tho
Those aren't great numbers for cbs beyond the edge got better ratings for its premiere and I know from a source they weren't happy with that show ratings

yikes not the ugly stepsister the amazing race blowing this out the water. That's not a good sign. I had no clue amazing race was doing cute numbers like that still

Yes but Beyond The Edge got Survivor as their lead in, which is much better than BB

They had a really flop era a few years ago and almost got cancelled but bounced back and have been whooping that *** Camila ever since. I can't watch that show it's too much going on

But this show got cast members from survivor and big brother that they assummed will be their lead in to have better rating than this.
Anywho can someone please make a thread for the ratings
PINKROSE did you watch the episode? Please bring positivity to this thread. I get the vibe you want this cancelled and are laughing at us for watching this.

& the demo (the most important one) is lower than the mtv one yikes
Help me out... what does that number mean...
Idk how y'all are all ratings experts!
The demo stands for demographic which is the most important thing not number of viewers. The demographic is who they push commericials on which is how they make money. If the demo is low its not good because thats who they want watching the show

I did watch! I like the fact that the rookies bring pre existing connections with each other like the older challenge seasons. It wasn't bad but I don't think I will finish this I sound repetitive but the challenge formula is way to repetitive to do this many seasons in a row

Ratings are separated by age groups and sex. Right now we were just discussing total viewership but what gets a show cancelled/renewed is based on the demo 18-49 year old viewers. Idk why this has always seemed ageist to me but I guess younger people are more important to please than old folks who are actually more loyal to the shows they watch. Also Nielsen ratings are high-key ghetto and inaccurate. There are about 42,000 homes randomly selected to have a Nielsen box. This box tracks what shoes you're watching and needs to know the ages of the people watching so they can calculate how many viewers watched. You get paid to own a Nielsen box and encouraged to watch TV accurately and not just leave the TV on. Idk why in 2022 there isn't a system to track all viewers from cable providers and streaming. I guess privacy issues?

Demo is the key demographic that bring them the most money if that's low then you should be worried. Hence a show like siesta key stay getting renew because overall ratings aren't good but the demo is decent enough for mtv.

Now days networks look at live +3 too which is the total number their show get once it air plus the 3 days after on other platforms.

I feel your retirement era coming. I'm sad. I'd somewhat agree but Allstars and this keep me entertained. It's the main show I can't stand. They somehow still come up with new formats every time so that keeps me interested. Also this version clearly has so many brand new daily challenges so I'm also amped for that.
I'm not sure if its a fair comparision given that one is a broadcast channel and the other is cable, but that did make me laugh

Beyond the Edge outsold :/ but Survivor did better than BB so that plays a factor too
it did a .4 in demo ? That isn't good assuming ratings go down not up
I SAID WHAT I ******* SAID

WELL WHAT U SAID WAS SOME BULLSHIT
THIS IS BIG SISTER'S FAULT. IF THIS AIRED AFTER SURVIVOR THEY'D PREMIERE WITH 5 MILLION AND WE'D ALL BE SCREAMING. END OF DISCUSSION
Doesn't the cbs challenge have an ensemble cast of like 30 people who a lot of them are fan favorites nvm scratch that it did terrible

This shit won't get a second season and here I thought this was gonna take over all stars on mtv yikes!

I thought this would do better and then go down but it started off not great
