Surprisingly, a significant amount of MAGATS support AOC. It makes no sense to me since thats two opposite sides of the spectrum. But I remember when he won, she had asked his supporters why they voted for him, and ALOT of them said they wouldve voted for her because both her and Trump are "real". Absolutely wild.

the general public will always gravitate torwards who's the best at appealing to populism, even if it means supporting two contradictory groups. anything establishment = bad, which while that's a very oversimplicated and naive way at looking at things, i'd understand to a certain extent if i was an uneducated, poor, working class rural person who has been struggling for decades whether or not a republican or dem has been in power. republicans are popular because they're 1000x better at lying and appealing to the same workers that they go out of their way to keep uneducated.
THAT being said that's just a certain sector of conservatives, most of the conservatives I know still absolutely despise Bernie and AOC, especially AOC. They ******* hate that woman down..

you know, I never thought of it that way but youre completely right.
and youre not wrong with how some of them feel about AOC, thats why I was shocked when she was reposting so many magats saying complimentary things, but how you explained, it makes perfect sense. Id love to see studies on these supporters and how they think, because this is the most massive cult I have ever experienced. The way some of these people refuse to see the truth to anything and swallow up all the bull the current administration is spouting is terrifying, especially when you realize these people are raising children with these beliefs. I think its pretty blatant but I believe hate crimes and sexual assaults will skyrocket in the upcoming future. This isnt just politics, their beliefs are rooted in hate, and IMO alot stems from mental illness and/or lack of mental capacity.

agreed. in the grand scheme of the political sphere, even though to a younger person it feels like they may have been around forever, AOC and Trump are both very new, and people like novelty. Bernie has been an outspoken critic of his own party in a similar way Trump represented this 'new era' of republicanism in more of a shiny, charismatic way that made it 'cool' to be a conservative, things people like Bush and and Sarah Palin could never do. Because the average American basically hates their lives they're always gonna wanna elect the most promise for change. And they'll believe anything as we have seen.
Conversely, there are people however that do like establishment politicians because it feels safe. Hence why Biden won.
Did Trump promise change though? I feel like people voted for Trump because the right (very successfully) gave their base a phantom villian in undocumented people and transgender people (and to an extent dei). It's kind of unbelievable how very little Trump actually talks about helping lower/middle-class, but people are willing to vote against their own economic interests if it means hurting another group.
People, mainly white, align with race over class even if it means disregarding themselves. They don't realize it until it's too late, and continue to do the same thing.
But, feeling a level of racial superiority matters more than aligning based on class, which would benefit their lifestyles. Most minorities that "make it" align with class.

Lots of people are simple minded and saw the election this way.
Biden = bad
Kamala = biden
trump = at least he's going to actually go do something in office instead of being sleepy joe! My Indian boss was raving about Trump making so many changes (signing executive orders). And sure it's refreshing to see a president so active but all change isn't progressive change. He's just gutting everything from inside out with little to no thoughts or reprecussions from *** kissing republican congress and judges. People won't care until his orders directly affect them. The accountant at my job had to drag my boss when he said that he was like "my 401k is down 25% you think he's actually doing the economy any good?"

and white worshipping minorities (especially 1st gen immigrants) can be added to this too.
