I mean at the end of the day...the producers DO want conflict, as much as they claim they don't. What do people talk about and what makes people watch? Sure, people loved the nostalgic feel of the NY Homecoming, but it seemed like more people talked about LA Homecoming because it was such a mess.
Melissa and Danny said they had many conversations with the producers beforehand where they were assured by the producers that they were trying to making "nostalgic" or "feel good" TV. But what did they end up focusing on in the end? Julie's antics. And I bet the producers were actually loving that Julie was being unhinged haha. It makes their job easier in a way, because then they don't have to focus on long complicated conversations on difficult topics like race etc.
So with Boston, while it was a solid season and there are plenty issues/discussion to explore, without Sean there probably would not be much conflict. He is the one outlier and the rest of the cast gets along for the most part. If he did do it, the conflict would be intense and that's what Bunim Murray wants.
With Hawaii, I think it's the same. There really wouldn't be much conflict if it's just Amaya, Teck, Ruthie and Justin. It would be mostly a love fest. But throw Colin, Matt or Kaia in there and now you have a show. They are definitely instigators and would probably still clash with the others.
Miami I think again is the most realistic chance of an entertaining show for all involved. I think while they are all in touch and seem to have matured a bit, they are all strong and unique personalities who will still butt heads a little. Dan and Flora and even Melissa, Cynthia and Joe I think would definitely provide conflict. You could tell in Joe's Mike Lewis interview that even though he tries to act like the chill nice guy, he has alot of opinions and would not back down easy. And if Sarah is still the same, she was always willing to speak her mind.
You can't reunite a show that no one talks about anymore on a dying platform. They could have done GOAT seasons and this still would likely get cancelled.
