Reality Television: Generic Thread

I don't know why I still use this website since no one watches the shows they're hyped about pre-filming and my commentary is consistently ignored nowadays so I'll leave my reviews and disappear instead of creating a thread to hype each show that came out this month.

Netflix's Million Dollar Secret - 5 Stars. This show is everything that The Mole and The Traitors lacked. A strong consistent format and if you love those shows you will love this EVEN more. I'm telling you THIS IS BETTER THAN THE TRAITORS. STAY MAD! Hint about the winner, but this show produced one of the best strategic winners we've seen in a LONG time on any show.

Format: 1 person is secretly given a million dollars. The house every round has to vote out who they think has the million. Person with the most votes goes home. Clues are given about the millionaire via winning challenges. To make it harder for the millionaire, they also have to do Moleish stunts or else they are punished by receiving extra votes at the elimination ceremony.  One of the stunts a millionaire had to do was to convince 2 people to SCREAM. It was so badly attempted I couldn't breathe.

Hulu's Got To Get Out - 4 1/2 Stars. This is probably the funniest reality competition show I've watched in over a decade. If you miss the silly vh1 shows this is the show for you. Don't be fooled by the repetitive format and lack of scenery and competition. The trailer DOES NOT REFLECT HOW GREAT THIS SHOW IS. You will be cackling at every episode. The episodes aren't dragged out like other shows, it's quick, cute, and to the point! You can turn this one while you're doing laundry and still be able to follow along without too much focus. Doodles for The Challenge! I took off half a star because with a large cast, a lot of people were ignored. Non-reality stars/non-production favorites were invisible and it was CLEARLY rigged to favor certain contestants. But the show was so hilariously dumb that I didn't even care.

Format: 20 people live in a house for 10 days. There is a tv with a cash prize that counts up every second of the day and will eventually reach 1 million dollars. If no one escapes, the entire house splits 1 million. However if someone successfully escapes the house they take home all the money that is on the tv screen at that time. The only way to escape is to receive an escape plan. The doors/windows unlock at a specific time and that's the only time you can attempt to leave the house.

Netflix's Battle Camp - Unrated. I just finished episode 1. This show is WAY better than expected so far. Do not let the lackluster (and lack of racial diversity smh) fool you! This show is Survivor + The Challenge USA 2. The cast is playing hard from the start, no one is an annoying try-hard, the competitions keep me entertained, and surprisingly the wheel is NOT rigged. I always question shows that use a spinning wheel; I assume they have a magnet at the back to stop at the desired location. The wheel on this show is legit and you can tell because of the stopper on the top making a consistent knocking noise as it hits each piece to naturally slow down the wheel. I'm already invested and can't wait to finish it!

Format: 3 teams. Winning team is immune from being eliminated. The last place team gets their name on the board automatically. The winning team then gets to send any 3 people from the 2 losing teams into a punishment challenge. The 2 losers of that challenge get their name on the board. Then the entire cast votes for any individual (besides the winning team) to go on the board. The host spins the wheel and whoevers name it lands on goes home. In the end only one person takes home 250k.

I just watched got to get out, it was very fun but the "random" exit codes were so transparent lol

I feel so bad for the people that didn't get a chance to exit. But at least they went home with something. The 2 girls that quit are so dumb. Apparently one of them is one of the biggest villains ever. I read up on her show she's evil!

See I went in blind for the contestants, I only vaguely knew who Spencer and omarosa are

I was just thinking about how I missed Traitors the other day, thank you Timster!

Battle camp was great. Needs a format tweak and more episodes since the end was pretty rushed but I really enjoyed it. Netflix has a truckload of good young personalities at this point and I hope we keep getting to see them

Got to Get Out was okay. Definitely something missing format wise as it got pretty repetitive

Glad to hear such high praise for Million Dollar Secret. I skipped it, but now I may have to check it out.

I was bored of Battle Camp half way through the first episode, but it sounds like I need to give it a fair shake and stick with it a little longer.

In regards to other shows; The new season of Temptation Island on Netflix is good if you like Temptation Island. It's pretty clear from the introductions that three of the boyfriends are shitty and all the girlfriends are fine. I haven't finished it yet, but everything's playing out exactly as I expected it to.

Cheat is coming to Netflix in a few days. I'll check it out but it seems to be a little bit too self serious to hold my interest. The tone reminds me of Love is Blind or The Ultimatum, just based on the trailer.

Sneaky Links, stupid name that they repeat ad nauseum, but it looks like a standard hot people in their 20s dating show like Perfect Match or Too Hot to Handle. I'll check it out. The format seems to be Ex on the Beach.

When the gworls finish these shows you better come back with your full review! I have no one to talk to about this stuff anymore since I don't tweet. It feels lonely not having people to commentate with
