Re: The Challenge: Battle of the Exes - Spoiler Discussion
I laughed out loud, when they were showing Johnny criticizing Wes, and talking about how alliances won't work in this game. Johnny probably had his alliance set up before the cast-members even got to the set. No need for him to walk around the house setting up his alliance, he's already planned ahead with his allies.
Wes has a real job and probably is focusing on that outside the show.
Paula's comments to the camera in the preview were Evan Starkman/Kenny Santucci-esque. Their confessional comments always come off as rehearsed. It's almost like she stood in front of the mirror practicing pre-planned lines.
Re: The Challenge: Battle of the Exes - Spoiler Discussion
If Naomi was a decent player they would of made it past the 4th elimination or whatever it was when they got sent home becuase Leroy is well liked and could probaly stick around to the final based just on how he gets along with everyone
Re: The Challenge: Battle of the Exes - Spoiler Discussion
How does everyone already know that Naomi is this horrible competitor? Did i miss something?
Leroy has said it on ustream and afterbuzztv on numerous occasions. Alot folks have asked him what girl would he want to be his partner on a challenge from his Vegas season. It always went Cooke(on the Philippines womens soccer national team), Nany(ran track in high school and pretty quick Leroy has said), Heather(a decent athlete), and Naomi dead last. He's said Naomi doesn't have an athletic bone in her body. He's also stated on afterbuzz that she "would be sent off home right off the plane", do to her lack of athleticism. It turns out I guess he was right. Well sort of.....
Re: The Challenge: Battle of the Exes - Spoiler Discussion
So was this mysterious maroon team a trick of the light or is there some funny business going on? Dustin and Heather are definitely gray.
Also $290,000? That's an interesting amount.

That still doesn't prove how she was bad on this challenge. Sure they said she's un-athletic on their season but it's been almost a year since then. I think people are just giving an excuse to why their favorite (Leroy) was sent home so early. Mike didn't seem to be athletic but they made it to the end on Rivals because the power alliance pretty much let them. Now, there are more eliminations to try to dodge and the challenges look harder and more intense than Rivals. And no one was saving them this time. So if Leroy and Naomi got last on a challenge (I can't see anyone voting them in so early) then that's probably because they sucked as a team. And in the promos it looks like Naomi is giving Mandi a run for her money. I am interested in seeing who eliminated them though.

Naomi is extemely unathletic, Nany has said so, Naomi has said so, LeRoy has said so. Naomi even said in the 15 preview she would rather not do challenges and just stay at the house. She says on twitter all the time about how she was surprised she even did a challenge. Its not an excuse as to why LeRoy was sent home but its a huge factor as to why he probably lost. LeRoy is an athlete and Naomi is not, in a team situation you are only as strong as your weakest player. Mike may not have been the biggest stud ever but he had some capabailities and from what I hear about Naomi she has none. And in the 1.2 second screen shot of Naomi vs Mandi, Mandi is on top of Naomi with control of whatever they are holding, I would hardly say that is giving her a run for her money.
Naomi isnt an athlete, whether you like or her not or want her to be something big or not, she is is just not an athlete and will probably never do well at challenges....heck by the way she talks on twitter I would probably bank on her not even doing another challenge.
i really wish it was Johnny/Casey just to see how they would have done with Johnny's politics and Casey not being able to do anything.
It is kind of sad to see it this way but on Johnny's twitter what appears to be his ex gf's sister was calling him out for lying to her sister after she saw the hookup interview from the past show(S). Johnny blamed editing and said he didn't lie.
Either way a weak Rival he had last season and a weak "ex" this season. But if he won again on what appears to be an intense final, very impressive and that can't be taken away from him I give him props. But on both shows that were supposed to be based on working with someone you have a bad past with, it appears he won't have to go through any of the issues it is for most of the teams to work with their partners.
I would give Tyler and Camila a bit more credit than what your giving them. I do agree Tyler is weaker than Johnny, on his first 2 challenges, he was garbage and came out of nowhere on Cutthroat and Rivals and became the 5th person in challenge history to win back-to-back challenges.
And Camila is one of the strongest girls showing up on challenges nowadays. She performed well on Cutthroat, and Camila & Theresa were the top 2 girl teams on the 2nd and 3rd challenge they competed in on Rivals.

You misinterpreted what i meant. I meant that their "rivalry" was weak to pair them up, and this "exes" coupling is pretty weak since it was off camera, it's like they just wanted Johnny there for this one. But I get it, they want to keep the show going, he is a boost to ratings i figure?
My post was in no way a dig at Tyler or Camila. I was saying he got these awesome partners who he has no beef with on either of the last two shows, so it's a lot easier to work well together. But I have to give Johnny props if he won these last two in a row, I will not take anything away from it if he did, and with CT in this final, seeing as they all feared him in a final so bad. Ultimately have to credit Johnny, just meant the pairing with Casey had she said yes would have been very interesting how different the power would have been or if Johnny still could have somehow pulled it off to at least make the final with her, that is basically all i meant.
Re: The Challenge: Battle of the Exes - Spoiler Discussion
Holy crap, can MTV not key out the green or what. and isn't Johnny being hypocritical about the alliance thing. Even though a lot of people think Johnny won, I have yet to believe it until confirmed.

and in the SS, it does look like Camila because it's gray (bright colors are usually gray) but hopefully that isn't the finish place.

Is this the end of the final? Do we usually see TJ with his horn in the end? Either way, I can't tell which team this is:

The girl in that shot has a light colored jacket and only one of the three girls has a light one. It's definitely not Emily, and looking at the other shots, it appears to be Camila.

Johnny wasn't wearing a light colored jacket though. He was wearing a dark jacket I believe. What you can't see is that a female in a light colored jacket, probably Camila, was right in front of him before he fell though.

It is probably just a gate that has to be gone through. I don't see TJ standing on that frozen mountain ridge for hours waiting on them LOL. I wouldn't be shocked if all that sled/mountain stuff is just one leg and not the final leg in the championship.

TJ wasn't at the top of the Rivals mountain though and them falling down makes it look like they finally can stop and rest after winning.
TJ wasn't at the top of the Rivals mountain though and them falling down makes it look like they finally can stop and rest after winning.
Yeah but that destination is just a flag and its not even at the top of a mountain, there isnt even a box to open or anything to tell them they won, that cannot be the end point. I mean I remember when Landon/Carley and Kenny/Laurel were climbing a cold mountain like that TJ was at the top, and they were basically crawling, so they easily could have just fallen down.
Also do we even know what Diem is wearing? or Camila for that matter? Everybody is just jumping to too many conclusions about who won...I doubt they would dead give away who won the first 5 minutes like that, BMP/MTV arent that dumb.
and FYI Nightwolf even if you get 2nd or 3rd and you finish you will probably stop and rest, it doesnt necessarily mean that you win if you stop and rest.
I refuse to believe that Johnny/Camila could beat CT/Diem. And if they did I would imagine that CT/Diem would be literally on their tail.

The previews have them moving across a ridgeline that looks like that one. Here they are racing toward a ridgeline. I am guessing that this comes before the movement along the ridge. Could be wrong, but still just seems like some sort of gate (plus no camera guy in the shot and that would be a pretty fair distance to have to call a photo finish accurately).

I have something that meke me believe that Camila and Jonhhy won!!! I'm Brazilian, and Facebook friends with Camila! One day Camila posted the pregame link and I found a way to watch from here, and her friend from Brazil also wanted to see, and then I posted there that I found a way to watch, and Camila's mom sent me a inbox message asking for help!! It's the 3rd season of Camila (4th if we count Sping Break) and is the first time that her family and friends from Brazil wanna watch the show!! I could be overanalyzing but I think she won!!!

Is a possibility! But my point is that she also marked a lot of her brazillian friends in the link!!! I don't know, I really like Camila, but I'd rather see Diem & CT winning this one!!! Also in the 15 minutes preview you can hear Emily voices screaming: "Come on!!!!"
Re: The Challenge: Battle of the Exes - Spoiler Discussion
Cara says on her formspring that Diem broke up with her boyfriend right before the challenge. Very interesting, and they had a nice moment in the 15 min preview when CT showed her the old pic of them, but i doubt anything comes of it. I was just letting you all know she was single during the challenge. Priscilla also said CT needed to treat her better so it sounds like it was rocky/awkward, but Priscilla was also probably there 2-3 days only so who knows in the other month how they got along. Since they never talked at all since the breakup/Duel 2 it's no shock it was awkward at first. Hopefully they are at least friends at the end of it all.
Just found that interesting, i thought Diem was in a 2 year long term relationship, so that is sad they broke up. Maybe they just took a break during the challenge, who knows.

I’m not saying Cara Maria is lying but I just don’t think this is true. It’s hard to tell with Diem since she mentions everything about her personal life except for her boyfriend. He has a public facebook and almost all of his profile pictures are of the two of them. Even while they were filming this challenge, he had a picture up with Diem so it’s weird that Cara Maria would say that.
I don’t think production asked CT and Diem to downplay their relationships because someone just tag CT and his girlfriend in some photos and his aunt asked him if they were going to the family Christmas party on facebook. CT has had the same “in relationship” status before, during and after this challenge.
From what Molds and Vman have said here, Diem didn't break up with her boyfriend. It’s just strange that Diem isn’t forthcoming. What’s even stranger is Cara Maria deleted this on her formspring. Luckily, I save a screen shot. What is Diem up to????

Re: The Challenge: Battle of the Exes - Spoiler Discussion
Eggs, good find before it was deleted! Even if she was single, doesn't mean they would reunite or either wanted to. I just could have sworn V1 and others like you said mentioned Diem was in fact in a relationship during the challenge. Just interesting because Cara said she loved Diem so they probably were close, so interesting she would say that unless its specifically mentioned on an episode and it's not a secret. But it does make it a bit more interesting being paired together if she did. Maybe they were in fact just on a break during the challenge and Diem and her boyfriend got right back together after she returned. Who knows?
Re: The Challenge: Battle of the Exes - Spoiler Discussion
Molds, you usually have the best eye for this stuff. What are your thoughts on the blue jacket/black flag shot in the intro? Final challenge spoiler or over-analyzation?

I did notice this too and was quite confused.
Anyway, I at least liked that it started off on the right page instead of Rivals, aka showing people's reactions to how horrible this will be and not just "Hey this is Rivals, here are the teams, k now go home"

I swear, if Google takes me to one more Wikipedia page today...
I've seen versions of it before, but this just seems extremely bad. The audio didn't even seem to be from the same interview, as Nightwolf said.
Re: The Challenge: Battle of the Exes - Spoiler Discussion
I noticed the messed up audio as well. I was extremely disappointed that my brand new laptop was streaming videos poorly, but it seems as though everyone had to deal with it.
On another note, I don't think we can automatically assume Johnny and Camila won the Final just from a few 1-second snips of it. I wouldn't count out Ty and Emily, either.

Yes, I noted that as well. I think with either Johnny or maybe Dunbar, the voice didn't even seem to correspond with the lips at all so I don't think it was all just a synching issue. I don't read lips well but it was as if the video was them talking about something totally different than what was being said in the audio.

I guess it all hinges on your conception of what constitutes fair competition... Was microsoft a savvy "competitor" when they used their operating system monopoly to bundle microsoft internet explorer in windows PCs, and drive netscape navigator from the market. Or were these practices in fact "anticompetitive?"
Tyler and Camilla have shown themselves to be great head to head competitors. Johnny is lucky to have them as partners
In fair head to head competition Johnny has a mixed record. He lost that watermelon lifting challenge to Tyler on an older season and was eliminated. He lost the elimination challenge to Tyler on Cutthroat. He was eliminated in a head to head challenge by Evan on Gauntlet III. Did he win any challenges on the Island? He sure intimidated a lot of people with his menacing behavior...
What Johnny excels at, is using intimidation, manipulation, and alliances to avoid having to face fair head to head competition in elimination rounds. In my book this is "anticompetitive." When it comes to fair head to head competitions, he's won some and he's lost some. He is merely mediocre in head to head competition. Remember, in the Rivals finale Kenny and Wes beat him and Tyler in the actually finale. What Johnny won was the 15 minute crap shoot that was tacked onto the end of the finale.
Johnny excels at using politics and intimidation to avoid fair competition, and to game the system in his favor. In my book this is "anticompetitive."
