They have a special on at 8 where they are dancing without any threat of elimination.
The top 20 dance (choreographed by Waaaaaaaaaaade) was on fire, and the hip hoppers just did a dance by Tabitha and Napoleon that was high energy and awesome. They've got some skills!!

Whaaa? It's on tonight?! I thought it was on Wednesdays....

I actually think this intro show is a good idea. I think it will help even out the dancers popularity a little bit by letting everyone get to know them. A big problem with the voting process is that it really is a popularity contest based on who the show featured during auditions. Maybe this way people will like the dancers for their talent more than their "personality" so some people ::cough::Evan::cough:: won't go as far as they did before.

They start on Wednesday. Tonight is a special night which showcases all of their talents. The tappers are tapping, the hip hoppers are doing hip hop, they had a contemporary routine...etc etc.

And the schnozzberries are...oh nevermind. Sweet!!
I really liked tonight's episode (they start tomorrow by the way. 2 people go home by the end of the night.)
I already have my least favorites (Billy and Ashley) and my favorites (Molly, Nathan).
Billy is going to be screwed if he can't lift up a girl. The other guy (I can't remember his name, Facob maybe?) in their contemp routine killed him when it came to the lifts. He was having some issues.
Ashley just seems to be extremely possessive of her husband and the kind of person that's going to completely break down when either one of them leaves. And the other ballroom dancer girl (Karen) looked way better.
Going in before the show my least fav was that crying girl. My goodness she was annoying!
I got the same feeling about Ashley as you and was kind of hoping she wouldn't make it through.
I'm semi looking forward to Molly now that she is a fav of yours. Before she was way too cutesy and young for me but it will be interesting to see how she adapts to new styles and takes on more mature roles.
I'm excited for tonight!
I thought the 2nd contemporary routine (with Mandy Moore) was my least favorite but the judges raved over it. Maybe it's just because it was my least favorite song. I really liked the top 20 dance, the hip hop dance, and Tyce's dance. The others were ok, but all of the dancers looked really good. It's going to be tough...I definitely think they are better than last season.
They brought in a new choreographer for the tap routine, and some of the regulars are back (Tyce, Sonya, Wade, Mandy, T&N) but no Mia Michaels in sight...
They also have a seat saved for Paula Abdul "in case she decides to show up" and they confirmed that Adam is indeed a regular judge now.

I'm already pretty sad about that...

So two people are going home tomorrow but they danced tonight without the fear of going home? Strange format. Oh well it'll be on here in 30 min so hopefully I'll get it by then lol. :p
I'm bummed too that Mia Michaels is leaving, her dances were always some of my favorites.
And P.S...please God do not let Paula Abdul come to this show...please....
Oh my gosh if Paula and Mary share a stage I think my head and Joel McHale's would literally explode! lol!
OPD, I think tonight is just a showcase and then tomorrow they actually dance with their partners and get voted off by the end of the show, which is interesting because that means that the west coast doesn't get to vote? That's the only part I am confused about. How can you have live voting when only half the audience is watching? Maybe it's just the judges that vote them off, that would be an interesting twist. Skip the whole audience vote in the beginning and just let the judges weed people out to maybe try and avoid having certain people make it through...

That's what I think they're doing. It's an interesting strategy, but maybe they've FINALLY learned their lesson after last season.

Yeah it's the only thing I could see working out. I don't mind it that much, there usually aren't too many upsets the first week.
How do you guys like the new stage? I'm not sure if I like it better. It may just be that it was all group dances tonight so they couldn't really focus on single people that much, but the camera work just felt too far away and not personal. I like the curved front stage much better, more of the theater in the round instead of the typical straight stage. I'll wait until tomorrow though to see how they handle just partners and give the audience there and at home the connection that I liked from the other stage.
I think Ellenore is so cute. I think she looks a lot like Melissa from RW: New Orleans.
She is adorable and I can see the resemblance with Melissa. It's those big lips ;)
So my last roommate just told me she knows Phillip and Kathryn! I told her that as long as Kathryn doesn't start with the crying again I'll vote for her ;)

Gosh no kidding!! That was horrible! But the Soup clip was great. :D
Gosh no kidding!! That was horrible! But the Soup clip was great. :D
Hahaha, yeah it was great! And truthfully if something got me on The Soup I would be kinda psyched about it ;)
Hmm, definitely the opening Top 20 dance by Wade that was fab. A nice mix of Fosse and Michael Jackson type moves.
After that I think I liked them all besides really the second contemporary and the jazz by Sonya which we just so-so. Some great talent this season that's for sure.
I actually liked the Sonya dance with the girls in the tutu's! Other than that, I watched a little more passively than usual. I would look up and watch for a few minutes, then turn to Vevmo or Twitter. I know...
Oh yeah, and Latin ballroom girl, possessive much!! Keep flashing that ring girl...I bet she comments about her "husband dancing with someone else" EVERY week.
They said that because there are baseball playoffs, there's no results show this week so the judges are cutting 1 guy and 1 girl tonight.
I don't like this stage. They seem very cramped.
2 who won't be dancing tonight due to illness/injuries...

I was juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust about to post that!!! Haha.
Do you guys care if I play-by-play?
First up: Channing (contemporary) and Phillip (tap): Jason Gilkison choreographed jive. I liked it.
Ashleigh (ballroom) and Jakob (contemporary): a Tyce Diorio broadway. Jakob dances very femininely, but his lines are great. He'd be good in Cats. I liked the choreography, but I didn't really like them dancing it. The judges really liked both of them. Nigel said he was one of the best dancers they've ever had.
Ariana (contemporary) and Peter (tap): a Tabitha and Napoleon hip-hop. It could've been good...but it wasn't amazing. They were a little off.
Russell (krump) and Noelle (contemporary): Tony & Meredith foxtrot. Russell danced it with Melanie. I was really hoping that dancing with the co-choreographer would make him look good...and oh man. For a krumper? ****. He did really well.
Bianca (tap) and Victor (contemporary): Travis Wall contemporary. Oh Travis...I love you. They had some technical critiques, but the actual choreography was good.
Karen (ballroom) and Kevin (hip-hop): Tony & Meredith cha cha. It was raunchy. It was decent. She did really well (as she should, it's her forte) but I thought Kevin needed a little bit of work technically...but he did well compared to her. Karen got put on the hot tamale train.
Ryan (ballroom) and Ellenore (jazz): Sonya contemporary jazz routine. I think it's fairly obvious that Ryan tweezes/waxes his eyebrows. I could see her being really good at hip-hop. I really liked it for some odd reason. The twitches and stuff were really good. Ryan looked possessed.
Pauline (jazz) and [strike]Billy (contemporary)[/strike] Brandon (hip-hop): Jason Gilkison smooth waltz. For having such a short time together (a day and a half!!), I thought they did really well. I don't remember Brandon at all though. He made it look effortless when he picked her up. They got meh remarks from the judges.
Kathryn (contemporary) and Legacy (b-boy): Dave Scott hip hop. I missed it, but the judges seemed to like it.
Mollee (jazz) and Nathan (contemporary): Dorianna Sanchez disco. The lifts were crazy!! It was high energy. I think Nathan is going to be one of the favorites, and I love those two together. I thought they killed it.
Bottom 4: Arianna, Russell, Pauline, Brandon.
I thought both of the boys solos were awful. Brandon just kind of rolled around on the floor. Russell just kind of crowd pleased.
