The Challenge: Battle of the Exes 2 - Ratings

I just wish they would start showing marathon of The Challenge. That would help ratings as well. Like when this challenge ends they need to do a marathon of The Challenge and The Real World once a month. Not nessecarily show the whole season in one day. You know break it up into 2 or 3 days. It'll keep the show in peoples mind and build fans.

Agreed. They never replay the RW or the Challenge but they will replay ridiculousness all ******* day long.

The challenge has to continue, the demo is pretty impressive compared to their  other ****

You know, maybe if MTV wanted a series to do well they wouldn't have premiered it at the same time as the college football championship (among other things).  That alone did 33 million people, of course all the other shows (with the exception of WWE Raw which surprisingly did okay on Monday) did worse than usual.  It just looks dumb.

I still say they should switch RW and The Challenge's timeslots

I remember they did a rivals marathon to promote rivals 2, I was so shocked

And I totally think it helped ratings! They should have done the same this season.

They played the orginial Las Vegas season to promote the RW and so many people were tweeting about it. I don't understand why they don't do it more often.

Eye candy flopped exactly how I thought it was going to too ****. Idk why some had high expectations. The editing in the trailers they showed was > the storyline and cast combined.

Agreed. I am mad Brian got killed off in episode one no less. Wow...Mtv, really now?

**** with your comment above this one,  I totally agree. Idk who Brian since I didn't see the episode but I've heard complaints about it to verify that I shouldn't even bother.

That was for real world Portland right?

Either that or did they do it for Back to Vegas because they would make sense? lol I can't remember.

It was for portland, If I am not wrong they did a weekend marathon of RW: NY/San Francisco and Las Vegas 1.

Isn't it funny how we cracked on seasons San Diego-Portland  / Battle of the Seasons but when we look at the most recent seasons now and how ratings are on the decline on MTV in general we should really appreciate it lol

Same here. Also Rivals 2 lol.

I dont necessarily think it's The Challenge fault for the ratings, nowadays people don't really watch MTV that often. (well my friends and coworkers)

This is true. I also think that with the nearly 20 year run of The Challenge, they've managed to establish their own audience of people who are willing to tune in. No matter where they push the show, whether it's on Thursday at 10 or Tuesday at 11 -- they've got a fan base. It also helps the names that are on this season. Bananas, CT, Diem (and maybe Nany) are some of the show's biggest draws. The new concepts for other MTV shows just plain aren't working.

I don't get MTV even though Exes 2 and Real WOrld are their 2 highest rated shows right now, they are not showing any re-run for either. The next airing are both new epsiodes on Tuesday. While they are showing like 3 ridiculousness Marathons and showing eye Candy every day until Monday.

I don't get that either. They really should be showing RW/Challenges episodes alot more than they do. I'm sure they can give up an hour or two of rediculousness.

More complaints! Even Bananas retweeted this!

MTV needs to do better! The Challenge is shitting on EVERYTHING!

However, I will say this, if you watch MTV for a few hours they actually show a commercial for Exes 2 like every commercial. Or when a show ends. But they could do more. Like re-runs etc.

I'm starting to sense though that BMP agrees with us too. In that interview Jonathan Murray did I remember him saying something about wanting MTV to do a fantasy bracket but they wouldn't do it. They probably wish MTV would do more for the challenge too.

I'm loving the fact that despite there being a commercial for eye candy every five minutes and it having a big star for teens that the challenge did way better. Why did they think putting the premier on the same night as the college football championship was a good idea?

The show wouldn't have done good regardless of that.

I doubt they have the same target audience but, like everything else they do, it was stupid

True but it does take away a bunch of viewers from other shows.

Well, a show like Gotham didn't show a new episode that week because they have the same target audience (men 18-34) but, and I could be wrong, I doubt Eye Candy's ratings were drastically impacted...maybe slightly.  I was watching football, as I'm doing now, but I'd never even consider Eye Candy

Yeah I'm not saying that they were impacted majorly but it doesn't help that it was on the same time.

MTV is ran by a bunch of retards.

Yay for the challenge doing well and lol @ victoria justice flopping, that's pretty much the story of her career lately.

Mtv's so garbage now if it wasn't for RW and the challenge. RIP to their network if they ever get rid of it.

V1MAN, what was that idea presented to the level below Daniels you speak about?

My business partners would not take kindly to revealing any details since the show concept is alive and well at another newtork.  About all I can say is that it is a reality show about people with conflicted gender identity as well as those who outwardly have convincingly professed to be either gay or straight.  It would have played to the historic strengths of MTV but have more of the interesting flavor of some shows from 51 Minds Entertainment.

Ratings for Tuesday:

843k viewers with 0.50 in the 18-49 demographic.

Kudos to Real World for breaking a million. When was the last time a MTV show reached a million?

Not sure how I feel about The Challenge though. Was hoping it would break a million as well. But it's still good compared to other MTV shows.

They both still beat Eye Candy, which is a win for me.
