shes always had these type of jobs in positions of authoritiy where it was requird to maintain some type of public image that served as role models for kids and she still came onto the challenges without hesitiation.
in fact she said in this very episode while being confronted by nia in the hotel room, that she was an elementary art school teacher but that obviously didnt keep her from coming to exes 2.
so all we are left with is her fiance and the criticism and implicit threats from bananas. im not convinced that getting a fiance means she turns into some demure gender traditional stepford house wife since doing things for or because of men goes entirely against her feminist philosophy. its either she wants to leave on top if she ends up winning or she knows whats coming if she returns. i personally think its both but more of the latter.
I think you're reading too much into it. I think the way she played -- which was the plan the whole time -- was indicative of the fact that she was planning on leaving well before this whole thing went down. If she does win, this could easily be her "drop the mic" moment. Paula, who was on almost every challenge for a long time, did the same thing Sarah is doing. I get why you think that way, but I don't believe it to be the case.
Exactly. Her whole attitude this season came across to me as Sarah KNOWING this is her last challenge.
just curious Johnny fans, do any of you agree with the way he reacted? I saw Mark say he doesnt like what sarah did but lets get real, anyone would have done the same thing, johnny was basically saying what sarah was saying rigt untill she sent him in, I cant see anyway how he can seriosly be mad
like holy crap I just watched the aftershow and johnny threw the elephant thing at jordan and almost hit sarah with it, never seen such cry babyness, hes worse than paula, and paula had it happen to her over and over. When everyone turned on Wes he didnt start crying like that, he just accepted it. Johnny needs to learn to accept shit and grow up, hes such an entitled brat, sarah even said theyre are not and never were bffs so get over it
And Nia needs to learn how to act like a human being, she prob wont admit it but she does think gay ppl are less of men than straight men, calling someone a ****** is being hateful, its like being gay is derogatory, ok rant over. Oh and Leroy needs to ****, hes all up johnnys *** calling sarah cold, leroy is usually pretty chill so he needs to stop acting like johnny is god and all his actions are always justifiable (if thats even a word)

* Why are we supposed to forgive Nia for her words and actions, but Sarah's actions (which are a part of the game) are totally unforgiveable?
* Sarah gives herself the best chance of winning by turning against an 11-time participant and 5-time champion and is told her actions are unforgiveable and that she is the modern day Judas, the devil, lacks a conscience, and has the mentality of a serial killer. Meanwhile, Nia says the most vile things and sexually assaults Jordan, and all should be forgiven and forgotten.
* What loyalty does Sarah owe Bananas? They're not even real friends. They're Challenge "friends". I get that. We all have those kinds of relationships... whether they're people from work or the guys you play Tuesday night hockey with. You're friendly and spend time together, but they're not close friends. They're certainly not friends you'd risk missing out on $100,000 for (by finishing 2nd or 3rd).
* I am so disappointed in Leroy. I always consider him to be the voice of reason, of sorts, and he just sounds like he's been drinking the Bananas Kool-aid. I get that loyalty is important to him, but to refer to Sarah as the devil while ignoring Nia's behaviour? C'mon. Would he be so willing to forget Nia's behaviour if Teresa didn't show up in her place and instead he joined Nia on the plane home?
* Bananas behaved like a petulant child. He's an egotistical, loudmouth know-it-all who always thinks he's right. When he throws the elephant, does he apologize to the host for nearly hitting her? No. He rationalizes his behaviour by saying he was trying to hit Jordan (so that makes the behaviour okay?!) I really don't understand how this guy has "fans". He's a grade A loser.
Speaking of Darrell, he seems to have a wonderful life with his wife and two kids as I see on his instagram. I'm happy to see he's doing okay and hasn't let reality TV taint his life, unlike some of these people.
Wow. Funny because I just heard him say "When was the last time Darrell did a relationship???"

* Sarah looked great!
Why there is any kind of talk about Sarah's move being less-than-great ****** me off.
It was a great move and that's all there it to it. No need to factor in Johnny's feelings.

Exactly. Her whole attitude this season came across to me as Sarah KNOWING this is her last challenge.
because she was desperate for a win? She's been desperate for years now.
she indicated no notion of wanting to stop until after she cried and now all the sudden she does because a feminist has a fiancé and now has some amazing job that as I already pointed out, apparently didn't keep her from coming back this challenge and the others!
i think people are just trying to justify her decision as having no repercussions because they don't want bananas to be right about the lasting effects of her actions. She did what she had to win but if it's scared her off from coming back then it's not worth it and from what I can see, no one has shown an argument otherwise just their wishful desire to claim bananas was erroneous in thinking that he got the last laugh.
i don't even like bananas but even I can see how people brains are totally clogged with emotion when making an argument withnhim as a variable
But her decision will forever taint her credibility in the game because she lied. Flat out lied. She made the decision, she feels horrible about it, but she only feels horrible because she betrayed her previous alliance. Especially at a critical point when everything was on the line.
What makes it even worse is that she tries to justify her decision by saying Bananas & Nany would’ve voted them in. Bananas & Sarah aren’t the best of friends (he apparently doesn’t call her on her birthday), but they were working together the entire game. I completely agree with Bananas for being outraged, because she didn’t live up to her word.
It also looks bad because she keeps referencing the money as opposed to the win, it looks money hungry. Like you would screw over your friends for money.
I'm not going to push back much because none of this is outlandish, but did Sarah actually agree to never throw him in or take him to the Finals or something explicit? Because the whole 'we're working together' thing on it's own doesn't seem that compelling. Like he was out half the game, he wasn't saving her all over the place. It doesn't seem like they are best buds outside the game unless I missed something big. She is "money hungry" probably, but so are most of them. All we have to go on for Bananas not throwing in Sarah is his word after the fact, not having to have made the call. I guess all I'm saying is I'm not sure I'm convinced she did "flat out lie", to me that requires some sort of explicit agreement being made. Not 'let's work together'.
I think the general strategy in this game have been alliances and who are your #1. In episode 2 or 3, Sarah and Jordan created a list as they were deliberating because they went around and asked everyone (or assumed), who were their number ones. On that logic, Bananas/Nany and Jordan/Sarah were each other's number ones, because of Bananas/Nany didn't come back -- they might've gone in. With that said, (I think) Bananas would've taken Sarah to the final because he was confident enough in him & Nany that he would've beaten Sarah, if not, at least he would've made some money.
I wouldn't be able to trust her. Bananas & Sarah aren't great friends out the game, I understand that, but they haven't been at odds in the game either. Every time she's gone home, he's felt sympathy and said only nice things about her. He allowed her to win a Challenge on the original Battle of the Exes. I think everyone respected Sarah for being a strong competitor and being relatively positive about it, but it's gone out the window. And not just from Bananas either, Nany, Nia, and Leroy don't respect the decision as well. She lied and flat out betrayed someone, for money.
And? The point of going on these shows is to make money. She made a great game move. She doesn't owe Bananas a single thing, nor does he her. This is a competition for money, not a neighborhood game of bridge. Honestly, everything you're talking about is colored bubbles. This is the best move for her. Who cares if other people have their feelings hurt? If you don't want to go in, don't put yourself in a position to go in.

If she wins $125,000, it's plenty worth it. How is it not worth it? I don't get that particular part of your argument at all.
that amiunt wasn't guaranteed to her and its not even that much after taxes.
doesnt she have a rich fiance?
so for maybe 125k before taxes she's now forced to resign to her tepid suburban life that she's always been eager to escape for the challenges at the drop of a dime
Youth > money especially since she was never a bum in the first place. Her win came at a high price

It's more guaranteed if she gets rid of the 5-time champion. It's simple logic -- would you rather go against a guy that has won these more than anyone else or against a team of rookies and a team of competitors that have never finished a final? I'm just going to have to agree to disagree with you, but the prospect of doing more challenges (especially when you've already done eight of them) is not greater than maximizing your chance at a big payday and riding off into the sunset of your next adventure. It's not even close.
I mean, Bananas and CT keep doing them because they make enough in winnings, appearance fees and celebrity incidentals that they've been able to make a psuedo-career out of it and make more doing it than they would at a 9-to-5 job. But someone like Sarah who doesn't have that marketability and hasn't had that success? Get paid (which doing this increases the odds of), leave on a high note, move on to the next adventure. Seems logical to me. I'd throw Bananas in every day of the week and twice on Sunday if I were in her situation. And if I were Bananas, I'd be upset at first, but I'd grow the **** up, realize that it was the correct game move, and move on. Him continuing to whine and cry about it says more about him than her.

Right. I fail to see much of a loss here. So Bananas and his cronies think she's a meanie? Oh well. I'm guessing that in two weeks once the reunion has aired she'll barely think about it again.

the price is being harrassed, bullied, stressed out by nia or bananas or even nany/leroy should she decide to return.
sarah is mushy and obsessed with being accepted. she wouldnt survive one season of being made fun by either seeing as she almost broke down in one episode and thats with jordan backing her up. shes no wes, kelly anne, beth.
nobody is technically "stopping" her from coming back but she wont enjoy it. no point in coming to a challenge if its just stressing you out and making you paranoid if you already have the title or arent desperate for money

these guys...along with sarah.... actually enjoy the challenges and impulsiveness of the entire experience. they know what an unremarkable, couch potato, cubicle middle class american life is about and they know how the challenges compare. its not just about money its about not growing up and the challenges provide these "kids" an environment where they can relive their youth in a way where its kind of acceptable until they get shackled down with kids or something. youre overestimating how much money they make from the challenges and the emphasis on it. you can match this type of silly money with an engineering degree and actually have a source of income with permanence and prestige. wes allegedly makes quite a bit of money and won one of the biggest cash prizes on the duel and hes been coming back for years. theres more to it then just being an extraction source of money, because if thats really all there is to it then they should just stay home and go in the STEM field where they can do repetitive, autistic crap that only robot brains with ridiculously high attention spans could stomache

This is true to a degree but if Sarah wants to return she will....people have done far worse then came back. And, in all honesty, if she comes back and Johnny isn't there none of this matters.
I think this is being made to more than what it is. I mean yes if Sarah returns she's going to have a tough road ahead of her but she's not coming back so it really doesn't matter.
The fact that a move like this cause so much controversy just shows how there's so little gameplay and good moves made on this show. If this were any other show this would NOT be a big *** deal. What Sarah did should be common place on this show really when you think about it.
And Nia..What she said was ****** up and I personally think she should apologize and work on herself and it seems like she's going to do that so kudos on her.

I don't think it really matters even if he is there. I would bet there are challengers that are getting a kick out of this whole thing, even ones that have nothing against Bananas. I mean, Wes will probably buy Sarah all the drinks she wants from here on out.
As for v123's point, plenty of veterans who were fixtures on these shows walked away. Life changes, people find new interests, new hobbies, new passions. It's part of the process.

As much as I rag on Johnny (and to a lesser extent CT) all of this is true. Who wants to have a normal, boring life when you have the chance to do this? It's moreso how unlikeable & annoying Johnny is, plus the fact that Wes & Darrell seem to be the only two that really did something solid with their winnings. They set themselves up to where they could come on as many as they want & still have good income at home in spite of the show.

Difference is Nia is up there apologizing while Sarah has been constantly going on how it was just a game and then resorting to saying that they weren't really good friends in the first place. Thats when Leroy stepped in and called bs on her saying that. Clearly we don't see everything that goes on during the shows but Leroy seemed to think that JB and Sarah were friends. Maybe thats what JB told him and he believes it or maybe he's seen it for himself in their interactions. Either way Sarah got really quiet during that exchange so there seemed to be a hint of truth in there.

these guys...along with sarah.... actually enjoy the challenges and impulsiveness of the entire experience. they know what an unremarkable, couch potato, cubicle middle class american life is about and they know how the challenges compare. its not just about money its about not growing up and the challenges provide these "kids" an environment where they can relive their youth in a way where its kind of acceptable until they get shackled down with kids or something. youre overestimating how much money they make from the challenges and the emphasis on it. you can match this type of silly money with an engineering degree and actually have a source of income with permanence and prestige. wes allegedly makes quite a bit of money and won one of the biggest cash prizes on the duel and hes been coming back for years. theres more to it then just being an extraction source of money, because if thats really all there is to it then they should just stay home and go in the STEM field where they can do repetitive, autistic crap that only robot brains with ridiculously high attention spans could stomache
I agree too. I mean not many people get to really do challenges so why not take advantage of it? So I don't fault Backpack for doing challenges. It's really just the fact that Backpack is so unlikable and nobody really challenges him. Only Last season and this season is where Backpack has really had to fight like so many others have had to on this show. And on top of that he is on EVERY DAMN SEASON. Like I said before I get why he does them so much but at the same time it gets so tiring seeing the same ******* every season controlling the game and winning. I mean they can stand to shuffle him(and several other people) around on this show and let other people get a shot. I get that he's a fan favorite but there's no need for him to be on 11 challenges straight. It's like if Bostong Rob was on Every season of Survivior or Dr.Will or Dan(BB10) on every season of Big Brother. It gets annoying and tiring. That's all it is in my mind.
Yes......
I just watched the After Show. A few things...
* Sarah looked great!
Wow. Funny because I just heard him say "When was the last time Darrell did a relationship???"
Preach. Hallelujah, someone has a ******* brain.
Why there is any kind of talk about Sarah's move being less-than-great ****** me off.
It was a great move and that's all there it to it. No need to factor in Johnny's feelings.
because she was desperate for a win?
If you don't want to go in, don't put yourself in a position to go in.
Correct--I'd never be mad at anyone for voting me in when I had an opportunity to win the mission AND (when I failed) win an elimination
A big "if"
that amiunt wasn't guaranteed to her and its not even that much after taxes.
doesnt she have a rich fiance?
so for maybe 125k before taxes she's now forced to resign to her tepid suburban life that she's always been eager to escape for the challenges at the drop of a dime
Youth > money especially since she was never a bum in the first place. Her win came at a high price
In your opinion...I don't think there was any price
All of this
the price is being harrassed, bullied, stressed out by nia or bananas or even nany/leroy should she decide to return.
sarah is mushy and obsessed with being accepted. she wouldnt survive one season of being made fun by either seeing as she almost broke down in one episode and thats with jordan backing her up. shes no wes, kelly anne, beth.
nobody is technically "stopping" her from coming back but she wont enjoy it. no point in coming to a challenge if its just stressing you out and making you paranoid if you already have the title or arent desperate for money
I don't understand how any of this is considered a "price"...but if you say so
these guys...along with sarah.... actually enjoy the challenges and impulsiveness of the entire experience. they know what an unremarkable, couch potato, cubicle middle class american life is about and they know how the challenges compare. its not just about money its about not growing up and the challenges provide these "kids" an environment where they can relive their youth in a way where its kind of acceptable until they get shackled down with kids or something. youre overestimating how much money they make from the challenges and the emphasis on it. you can match this type of silly money with an engineering degree and actually have a source of income with permanence and prestige. wes allegedly makes quite a bit of money and won one of the biggest cash prizes on the duel and hes been coming back for years. theres more to it then just being an extraction source of money, because if thats really all there is to it then they should just stay home and go in the STEM field where they can do repetitive, autistic crap that only robot brains with ridiculously high attention spans could stomache
All of this...especially the bolded.
