I mean, Bananas and CT keep doing them because they make enough in winnings, appearance fees and celebrity incidentals that they've been able to make a psuedo-career out of it and make more doing it than they would at a 9-to-5 job. But someone like Sarah who doesn't have that marketability and hasn't had that success?
these guys...along with sarah.... actually enjoy the challenges and impulsiveness of the entire experience. they know what an unremarkable, couch potato, cubicle middle class american life is about and they know how the challenges compare. its not just about money its about not growing up and the challenges provide these "kids" an environment where they can relive their youth in a way where its kind of acceptable until they get shackled down with kids or something. youre overestimating how much money they make from the challenges and the emphasis on it. you can match this type of silly money with an engineering degree and actually have a source of income with permanence and prestige. wes allegedly makes quite a bit of money and won one of the biggest cash prizes on the duel and hes been coming back for years. theres more to it then just being an extraction source of money, because if thats really all there is to it then they should just stay home and go in the STEM field where they can do repetitive, autistic crap that only robot brains with ridiculously high attention spans could stomache
As much as I rag on Johnny (and to a lesser extent CT) all of this is true. Who wants to have a normal, boring life when you have the chance to do this? It's moreso how unlikeable & annoying Johnny is, plus the fact that Wes & Darrell seem to be the only two that really did something solid with their winnings. They set themselves up to where they could come on as many as they want & still have good income at home in spite of the show.
I agree too. I mean not many people get to really do challenges so why not take advantage of it? So I don't fault Backpack for doing challenges. It's really just the fact that Backpack is so unlikable and nobody really challenges him. Only Last season and this season is where Backpack has really had to fight like so many others have had to on this show. And on top of that he is on EVERY DAMN SEASON. Like I said before I get why he does them so much but at the same time it gets so tiring seeing the same ******* every season controlling the game and winning. I mean they can stand to shuffle him(and several other people) around on this show and let other people get a shot. I get that he's a fan favorite but there's no need for him to be on 11 challenges straight. It's like if Bostong Rob was on Every season of Survivior or Dr.Will or Dan(BB10) on every season of Big Brother. It gets annoying and tiring. That's all it is in my mind.
Exactly. I can't really fault him for taking advantage of the show but at the same time the producers should know that having the same people on challenge after challenge is ridiculous & really doesn't make more people want to watch.
It isn't fair to comparing casting on Survivor or Big Brother to The Challenge as those shows have a much larger pool of people...that said, there's no question the challenge has done an awful job casting for a very, very long time

What I learned about the last episode is....Bananas is a b****, and I'm glad Jay atleast said something. Johnny threw Paula under the bus on the island, so you got played stop being a b**** about it. Who would want to face Johnny in a final? He manipulates everyone to make the final. Nia is a piece of shit, who cant keep their cool 1 challenge before the final? What an idiot. Im glad Jordan and Jay defended her. If i was in the house i would have been yelling back " Get ready cry baby b****** yall are going to elimination and deal with it!!". Zack, Nia, Bananas = Biggest ********** ever on a challenge.

That may be true but they have reused people more than they should. Boston Rob and Rupert has been on 4 seasons, Parvati/Russell/Coach/Ozzy all have done 3 seasons so has Jerri and Tyson. Janelle from Big Brother has been on 3 seasons and Boogie has too. These shows do have bigger pools but they're not above recycling people either.
Team Wes here but have to feel Johnnys pain. People are BSing with his past to justify what Sara did. She planned on using those two against each other to make it to the end and win.... Ok, well own that! She had NO integrity in this game, while Johnny takes his friends to the end as promised. On the Island, Paula was already in the final and Johnny had no choice but to do what he did! NOT EVEN THE SAME AS THIS SHADY MOVE. It annoying to me that she is jumping around in her justifications and I do believe she knows what she did was NOT justifiable here.....THUS her bowing out. She would never make it to another final again IMO because she cannot be trusted obviously. Had to put reason into this because everyone is rewriting history just because they do not like johnny!
What Bananas lacks is actountability. Which is strange, since he expects everyone else to have it when he's on the hurting end.
I don't understand why everyone is looking into why Sarah is done. Why is it so hard to believe that she's done with the challenges because she wants to move onto something different. Yeah, she loved the challenges, and it's something I'd have a hard time letting go, but she wants to make a life outside reality TV. It's not that unfathomable that people change over time and their preference and priorities change. Yeah, being on the Challenge might be surreal, but it comes with a cost (a two month hiatus on your life back home). For someone that wants to be a school teacher or has family, that doesn't come as easily to others like CT or Bananas, who have no real commitments at home (I'm assuming here). Yes, many have had families and children and jobs and school and still have participated, but where are they now? They left, because their priorities shifted into focusing on that. I'm not hating on anyone that have been doing this for 11+ years, its fun, but I question, what will they do once it's all done?
Wes has his 74 companies (he probably got another 74 after Rivals 2) and Darrell and Emily opened up their gym. Jamie Chung got into hollywood and one guy go into Politics. Veronica and Rachel tried starting their t-shirts thing a while back. I guess Johnny has his t-shirt line too...mmm...
On that note, how much is his bananas shirt? and does anyone know if it's good quality?

And we've seen that several times on this show. How many people have stopped doing challenges to do other things with their lives? Several. Not everyone is going to be Backpack and CT and do these shows until the day they die. That's why part of me doesn't get why so many people want all these old-schoolers back. Alot of them have moved on and/or just don't want to do them anymore. We can't expect these people to be on TV forever.
At the end, both Paula's and Sarah's situation is, "Do I want to win?". The game is played to win (for many at least). Sarah wanted to win and she did what was best for her self. BaNany is stronger than Sarah/Jordan in a final. She knew that.

i think Sarah's decision was a great and smart choice for her because her chances of winning become greater. I just think the Paula and Sarah situations are different. That's why I disagreed.
If the victim was anyone but Johnny Bananas I feel like everyone would be signing a different tune. Great move but Sarah was wrong and shady. Her own partner didn't even truly agree with her decision in that moment.

You realize that most have expressed an interest in returning for a season or two--no one is saying they need to do every season
Someone like Darrell would be more than happy to come back once every 3 seasons or so...lots of others as well. You still have a life outside the challenge when you spend, at most, 3 months over 30+ months doing challenges

Exactly. Regardless if she made it to the final or not, I'm sure this would've been her last season. C'mon, 8 Challenges in and she's been doing this since what? 2008? 2009? Why not leave on top? Evelyn did it. Emily did it. Paula did it. Susie did it. Tori did it. Carley did it. Aviv did it. Laurel did it. That's what people do. They make their money and go start their lives. To say she's being a punk or scared is ridiculous at this point.

Most of the people you listed would come back--at least half. And the reason the others quit and little to do with "going out on top"....Aviv is the only person I think that took that attitude. Evelyn was too far into law, Susie (who might still consider coming back) got married & had a kid and did Tori. Paula also had a kid (might be married)
And Sarah only spent 5.5 years of her 20s doing challenges--that's not a big deal at all. She could easily go from a regular to a person that shows up once and a while IF she wanted to. And, if the challenge lasts that long--she may want to come back at some point

I have a hard time believing that she will stay away but we'll see!

You seem like you are on the same PR run Sara is.... the ultimate sara apoligist. We get it, you dont like johnny and like Sara. Its obvious sara wanted this to be her final run on this show and she was willing to use her supposed friendship with Johnny plus many other factors to win. She chose more money over any morals (She never has really had those in this game) or friendships she may have had. She should just cut the "nice girl" act and boouncing from one made up justification to another! OWN YOUR BACKSTABBING!

Whom besides Darrell(whom is pointless to bring back IMO) Is willing to return?

Really? You know this for certain that they would come back? You're a mind reader? Brad & Tori made it clear on Cutthroat it was their last challenge. Paula & Susie went and had a kid and settled down (which obviously means they moved on). Regardless, this has nothing to do with anything. One day they can decide they'd comeback and tomorrow say nevermind. But all those people I listed went out on top, whether it was their intention or not. Don't be another one of these posters looking to knit pick everything i say as if I'm just making blatant generalizations and making up false info.

Agree to disagree. The Challenge is pretty much high school, ask yourself how many friends you still have from high school and if you would "backstab" them for 125k? Friendships come and go, opportunities to make 6 figures in one instance doesn't. I'm sure Sarah's crying all the way to the bank.

Agree with you on this point. You actually shoot pretty straight in your posts so at least you admitted what she did here. Just wish she would do the same.... I think a problem is sara still strives to be well liked. Now it is more about how "the fans" feel than her fellow challenge players becuase she is done with the show.

Darrell isn't pointless no matter how many times you make that ridiculous point. Rachel Robinson is, Tina is, Mallory is, Elka is, Arissa is/was, Cameran is/was, Randy is/was, Robin would be back in a second, Veronica would come back if conditions change...**** if conditions change pretty much everyone is willing to come back...Brad, Landon, Christena P, Mark obviously...
Why in the world do you think people aren't willing? When the old schoolers got calls many were very excited but then MTV got involved.
Frank, Nehemiah, Danny, Melinda...I could probably go on all day
i actually thought that was a really great interview. I think bananas was hurt that she didnt consider him a true friend...and i think both mark and johnny think she was very conflicted with that decision....you can tell how bothered and hurt he is...which you rarely see from him.
Okay so does anyone want to set the record straight with the whole paula island situation, I was under the impression Paula was in on it and got a portion of the winnings. I remmeber reading that somewhere here on vevmo. But people here are acting like she truly did get screwed over , so whats the deal? Was that ever proven to be true or was it just a rumor ?

When did Susie do Tori?
I heard this too when I did a reunion show (rivals) years ago. It's been awhile, but I think you are right.
