Big, big jump. THE CHALLENGE - 1.162 0.7 A 18-49
Big, big jump. THE CHALLENGE - 1.162 0.7 A 18-49
Yep, finally moving in the right direction--very good sign and yesterday was probably the best episode of the season so it could be good for the future of this season
Can only go up next week, after last nights episode.

Great that the ratings were high this episode and they showed what I thought was a real good mid season teaser trailer...hopefully that means good things.
Yay! Hopefully it will atleast hit 1.5M. I wonder what demo BOTS needs? Like Nikkita on CW I read an interesting ratings report that that show averages .4 gets only 25,000 dollars for a 30 second tv spot when BOTS averages .7.. And Nikkita isn't cheap! I hope this still means there's potential for the challenges to get renewed!
Well at least it's doing very well, I mean with Whitney Houston's family reality show airing that time and Nashville doing great. I'm happy that it's doing great in the ratings.
That's good....but sucks that the show wont be back for another 2 weeks.
Awesome news. I wonder why this went up? Anyway, great to hear.
So glad the ratings went up!!!!! I hope people stay interested and don't drop off because of the break. This season has been pretty amazing, so far.
Wow, that's great to hear! As long as this continues is all I'm hoping for. Looks like they're doing the right thing, not airing an episode next week on Halloween, I guess they got the hint last time with Fourth of July?
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the only reason more people tuned in was because they wanted to see the Frank&Zach/Alton&Zito beef.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the only reason more people tuned in was because they wanted to see the Frank&Zach/Alton&Zito beef.
Yeah that's actually kind of a sad thing to point out for those of us who want to see strong competition and not a whole lot of blah blah blah lovefest that Frank seems to have with his housemates.
Just realized there's no episode this week!!! How annoying.
Just realized there's no episode this week!!! How annoying.
Actually, it makes sense as it is a bad TV night for the demo. No reason to throw away an episode. On the other side of the coin, it would have been nice to see some value added content fill in the slot - such as a canned special possibly reviewing what we have seen thus far. At least an attempt to shuttle viewer engagement to next week.

Has The Challenge been renewed already? On Ridiculousness, TJ Lavin said something about "officially going to be hosting his 14th season" and the crowd applauded. This season is only his 13th. I'm just pointing this out because maybe we don't have to worry about renewal *just* yet, lol. But I'm still glad the ratings jumped.

I think someone inferred this before, but it seems like this season completely set up another Veterans vs Rookies kind of season, or old school vs new school. i wouldn't be surprised if that is case, especially since they seem to putting a lot of emphasis on the fact there are many rookies and almost no vets. For all we know MTV really just planned this season for a more dramatic and competitive next season.

He did mention he would be hosting his 14th season soon. Weird.
Ratings for this week: THE CHALLENGE 1.103 0.7 A 18-49
Ratings for this week: THE CHALLENGE 1.103 0.7 A 18-49
Would have been nice if have of New Jersey had power to watch this.
I'm thinking the ratings will drop next episode with the preview of the stupid Fear Factor eating challenge and no more Knight & Jemmye.
Fear Factor was actually a great show, IMO. Whether or not the rating for the show were good, i liked it. Plus the fact that it resembles OLD challenges might bring in more people. And Jemmye and Knight didnt have that much influence on this season anyway. What exactly did they do that would have brought tons of people in to watch other than just being there. Thats like saying "oh well i guess since lacey got out first i just wont watch anymore" like, thats a stupid argument i think.
The week break killed any chance of an increase.
It seems like folks are going to have excuses for the low ratings this entire season.
It seems like folks are going to have excuses for the low ratings this entire season.
Fans and network executives alike always have excuses for poor ratings. Unfortunately the only thing that stockholders and advertisers care about are bottom line profits that require good ratings.
Fans and network executives alike always have excuses for poor ratings. Unfortunately the only thing that stockholders and advertisers care about are bottom line profits that require good ratings.
Is the fact that they are producing at least two more episodes this season then they have in the past a good indication that the network feels positively about the series. (There will be at least 12 episodes compared to all other series having 9 or 10 in the hour era).
...which again requires a very different cast...
This show requires a very different cast. Everyone I know watches this show on five TVs at once, so the ratings are wrong. MTV doesn't play enough repeats and when they do I'm engaged in World of Warcraft (which they need to schedule around). Everyone watches the show online so those ratings should count, especially the viewers that watch the show illegally without commercials. The break last week killed ratings momentum. They should have taken a break this week as everyone watches Animal Planet on Hug Your Cat Day. It's on Wednesdays which is horrible for ratings. It's on at the wrong time of day. It's on in the wrong time of year. Nielsen is an antiquated system, especially because it is not counting me and all my friends that watch on five TVs. It airs against a ratings juggernaut Hoveround infomercial/BasketFootballSimpsonsReruns. They need to bring back the cast of Real World Pangaea because they will bring the show back to its roots! Why won't they give this series a chance! Why? Why? Haha.
